Safeties to Green. Or else

Other players also can choose fits that will make ganking them unprofitable (non-blingy Skiff, freighters with 3x Reinforced Bulkheads and light cargo, etc.). Some of them don’t. They get what they asked for.

Location is obviously chosen by the victim (except the holiday filaments, but they expired).

And that’s exactly the problem. Ganking right now is a super boring completely risk free activity.

And the “scouting” you seem to try to make out as some super thorough activity just consists of pressing one button a few hundred times

Have you ever conducted a gank before? The ganker chooses the location of course.

I disagree. It is absolutely hilarious and fun to gank. There is nothing in this game that comes even close to the entertainment value of suicide ganking.

I am talking about the gameplay here, not the tears you sometimes get from often clearly mentally challenged victims

That is his gameplay. We all play eve but everyone’s eve is different.

That’s obviously not true, since gankers have no possibility to teleport you into the place chosen by them. They gank you in a place you chose for your operations, whatever you do.

Are you knew to eve? I don’t know how to answer to that. Let’s take this example:

Let’s say alliance a chooses to attack alliance b with a roaming gang in 0.0, they catch let’s say a ratting drake on a gate in alliance b space

Who has chosen time and place of the engagement? Was it the drake that chose to rat in the alliances’ space or the roaming gang?

And that’s completely fine. I am just saying it should net be completely risk and consequence free.

I’m talking about the gameplay. There is far more to a gank than the F1 pressing you see as the victim. There is trade for minerals and components, production, logistics, scouting, scanning, bookmarking, the actual gank, the looting, dealing with disgruntled dead miners, dealing with disgruntled miners friends, hauling the loot, reprocessing, selling.

As you see, it is quite the process to run a gank setup. I guess you never actually ran a gank operation or even where part of one.

In any case, it is quite fun and involves a lot of different stuff. If you want to make something more interesting and more risky there are a lot of other activities in EVE that deserve it far more.

Would the answer change if “a ratting drake” was a citadel instead?

What? Do you mean if the citadel decided to roam and gank the drake? Or do you mean the citadel chose the place of the engagement by being there? No?

Fixed.

Well, I never counted the production of a ship or the buying of fittings in jira market as part of the actual gank activity.

I mean with that argument you could even make mining sound like a super fun activity (ever thought about the logistics in choosing the right asteroid? The things involved in buying all your mining lasers and then the awesome dragging and dropping and all that?)

Mining is just an activity, the playstyle is industry, logistics, supply chains and market trading, which is totally absorbing to me. I love it. But I wouldn’t do it without Karak and his buds providing the risk element.

Oh you thought that stack of ships I burn trough on a given day of ganking just spawns in my hangar? BTW I forgot invention since I obviously need t2 guns.

Our ships are basically consumables and yes the logistic and production around supplying them for the activity is indeed a big part of ganking.

Well in that case I guess you are totally with me to make ganking gameplay a bit more risky (and profitable) for the ganker.

This would be fine if you also increased the risks to miners/haulers.

I don’t think you should suggest changes for an activity you have no clue about. Maybe make some suggestion about your own domain of expertise, how about make mining a bit more risky (and profitable) for the miner for example.

You propose to add a chance that CONCORD would not incinerate the criminal?
