Other players also can choose fits that will make ganking them unprofitable (non-blingy Skiff, freighters with 3x Reinforced Bulkheads and light cargo, etc.). Some of them don’t. They get what they asked for.
Location is obviously chosen by the victim (except the holiday filaments, but they expired).
I disagree. It is absolutely hilarious and fun to gank. There is nothing in this game that comes even close to the entertainment value of suicide ganking.
That’s obviously not true, since gankers have no possibility to teleport you into the place chosen by them. They gank you in a place you chose for your operations, whatever you do.
I’m talking about the gameplay. There is far more to a gank than the F1 pressing you see as the victim. There is trade for minerals and components, production, logistics, scouting, scanning, bookmarking, the actual gank, the looting, dealing with disgruntled dead miners, dealing with disgruntled miners friends, hauling the loot, reprocessing, selling.
As you see, it is quite the process to run a gank setup. I guess you never actually ran a gank operation or even where part of one.
In any case, it is quite fun and involves a lot of different stuff. If you want to make something more interesting and more risky there are a lot of other activities in EVE that deserve it far more.
Well, I never counted the production of a ship or the buying of fittings in jira market as part of the actual gank activity.
I mean with that argument you could even make mining sound like a super fun activity (ever thought about the logistics in choosing the right asteroid? The things involved in buying all your mining lasers and then the awesome dragging and dropping and all that?)
Mining is just an activity, the playstyle is industry, logistics, supply chains and market trading, which is totally absorbing to me. I love it. But I wouldn’t do it without Karak and his buds providing the risk element.
Oh you thought that stack of ships I burn trough on a given day of ganking just spawns in my hangar? BTW I forgot invention since I obviously need t2 guns.
Our ships are basically consumables and yes the logistic and production around supplying them for the activity is indeed a big part of ganking.
I don’t think you should suggest changes for an activity you have no clue about. Maybe make some suggestion about your own domain of expertise, how about make mining a bit more risky (and profitable) for the miner for example.
