Say it with one sentence why EVE is bad

This is several sentences of absolute rubbish and not worth an more comment than that it is in fact just pure nonsense.

As i mentioned elsewhere, when mediocrity is your only choice (since i wish to play a space based mmo and EVE’s ranking as mediocre unfortunately tops the pile of current offerings of the sort i wish to play) then mediocrity is what i must accept.

This is a very bad example hahaha xD a rorqual can definitely defend itself, and goes against your argument because as a pve vessel its VERY good at defending itself.

no ingame browser

My point is not that starcraft has no balance or variety compared to instanced arena games, I have not played enough to have any opinion on the mater. I can guarantee however that the complexity of balancing a game and the amount of activities possible on stracraft are orders of magnitute smaller than ANY mmo due to the simple fact that the game world is continuous and not a discrete match, any action in a starcraft match will at most affect all the players on the current match for the extent of the match itself, so maybe 6 people and ~40 mins(?), a decision in eve can last until the servers close and potentially affect all players. It’s not a criticism of starcraft but a simple observation that comparing the two is silly.

Eve is a game known for it’s diplomatic opportunities, for the depth of it’s market mechanics, for the player made propaganda it spawns and encourages and many other things. How you got the impression that it’s more based on ship destruction than any of the other things is beyond me. I do agree that not giving options to mod your freighter is a stupid design decision, but not because you couldn’t fit guns into it but it did not allow for choice such as making him lighter and faster or heavier with more cargo etc etc.

I don’t get this complaint, if you don’t have at least the same amount of manpower to defend your rorq than the attacking force and they were able to catch ya you SHOULD lose the ship, what do you even expect to happen short of giving the ship invulnerability ? Capitals as far as I know are not supposed to be self sufficient, that’s why the FAXs are there. No you won’t be able to solo mine in a rorq, but that’s hardly a negative.

lolk

That has to be bait, it’s not possible.

If you’re going to mine some place without a group covering your mining do please tell me where you are mining so i can get the ‘boys’ and come show you just how poorly your rorqual can defend itself without backup.

I got that impression because all the things you mention ultimately require things to go boom or the entire games economy grinds to a halt and so do all those things you mentioned and a 100 more things you didnt.

Again, would you go out into an environment as hostile as EVE in a ship that has no real ability to defend itself, i certainly would not and this is one of the core problems with EVEs design. A problem you have become so accustomed to that you defend this outrageous game design flaw, which is your right, but it doesnt change the fact that defenseless ships in an ultra hostile game is just poor game design from the beginning.

You claimed earlier that you dont need a nullsec corp or alliance to fly a rorqual im im stating that you, in fact, do if you wish to not die in said rorqual.

When i state that all the current offerings for space based MMO’s are sub-mediocre, the word mediocre is a qualitative and subjective piece of terminology or to put it more simply it is my opinion. While it is my option to provide support for any opinion I hold, none is required under proper debate principals.

So, while you might disagree with my assessment, which is both your opinion and your right, telling me that my own opinion isnt possible is saying in essence that you know more how i feel about other space based MMOs better than i do myself, which is in itself the impossible thing to do.

Heh not big into mining but we did run into a few while shooting our way through null that you might be interest in, although that could get quite rough (D-scan) :] My guess is that is someones alt’s…

Also
EVE is bad because of the lag everywhere: when you undock, when you jump gate, indy window, deactivate/reactivate a module (this one is the worst), engage drone, and the stupdly boring TIDI.

Eve is a great game and I’ve been playing it since 2003.

Ain’t none of you ever been in small gang pvp where both fleet commanders know what they doing? I HAD THE MOST EPIC GAMING EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE. I typed it in caps so that you would be able to see my enthusiasm for the game.

(Tries to sound like Benjamin Sisko) Furthermore, I’m sick of these threads written by people who have started playing eve, done a few missions, been ganked a few times, and then thinking they know all about Eve. You don’t.

folks love small gang warfare, yet ccp continues to force big blob battles down our throats because they need that kind of drama unfolding which provides them free marketing…

eve is nothing like it used to be, I think many folks agree on this, and as time changed so has eve with it… its a insta-win game now depending how deep your wallet is… that being said I must agree with many commenters as they have chimed in on many of the bad’s…

at this point in my life I don’t know what good there is left…

Too large highsec and carebears not punished enough for being carebears.

Very interesting.

but that is a lot of rorquals and so close to goons i dont think that is an option for us.

While Eve has it’s problems, it’s the lazy and incompetent people that play it that make it bad.

Eve is bad because of posts like these and the OP which aim to dilute the game into a generic wow clone, set in space, aimed at the same player age segment of teen/young adults who don’t have the necessary buying power for subs and/or plex that some eve players have.

(Struggled to make that one sentence - I hope it’s clear)

Also Dark Engraver, the death penalty is lighter in Eve than the previous MMO I used to play where you’d lose your items AND experience, and you had to grind up, no training offline making it a much more intense time commitment. Clue: it wasn’t Wow or clone.

I remember one.
