they are not worth running at the lower levels and this event certainly doesn’t change this.
now the task that contains enough points to realistically complete the event is not resetting at downtime, so without doing L5 abyssals makes that totally impossible. the other half reasonable task (that I understand gives the ancillary mutaplasmids, resets every 24 hours letting you gain a few minimal points unless you have a few hundred million to buy and risk the advanced mutaplasmids, and bling modules, just on the chance that rumour is true.
so day 2 (day one was wasted when all progress and rewards was reset) and no possible way to actually achieve event completion, (as I am NOT going to risk a multibillion isk ship and pod, on l5 when the connection may drop at any moment killing me).
This is the worst thought out event conceived to date and takes ABSOLUTELY no account of how severe and intense abyssal play is or can be. It simply doubles down on proving that no one on the team has ANY idea of what playing with the abyss involves. This is without pointing out that ten seconds of testing would have shown how broken the event mechanics and display was, one can forgive and understand mistakes, lack of care, interest, and thought is less forgivable.
I know people are at the other end of our posts, and I regret pointing out the bleeding obvious. Hopefully it will encourage someone to try just a little harder next time to avoid a total clusterfuck.

Although the whole abyssal site thing needs probably some fine tuning, I like the event and the sites. Especially for an older dude like me who isn’t playing very often anymore, it is quite good for 2 reasons:

Very challenging sites. Not like a Level 4 where can just sit in a marauder or so and shoot things without any
risk. -
PvE on demand. If you don’t want to wait around for “sandbox content” and don’t have much time: Open an
abyssal site with the push of a button. No scanning around, no nothing.

I like abyssals because they remind me of the mapping system in Path of Exile, but that’s like comparing a toddler with a professional athlete in every aspect of this implementation.
The fact that abyssals can kill my 10b Gila when I get a disconnect, that’s totally out of my control, is not intelligent game design, it’s just a bad ISK sink that’s ruining my experience and is shitting on my time and effort. Every time I have an abyssal session, I play with a carrot up my ass because It’s a russian roulette with my Gila. It’s stressing me out. I’m trying to figure out at what times of day I’m less likely to disconnect. If Path of Exile had such a crappy “feature” implemented in their mapping system, they would go out of business. Luckily you can choose to do something else in EVE.
At the moment, the NET profit you make from T5 abyssals, after calculating expenses, is very low compared to how it was before the removal of the suspect flag. So why should I run abyssals? To be threatened by involuntary deaths? lmao

Just a noob question…do I have to buy these filaments always at the market for access to abyssal event ?
Or is there access available for free during the event?
No you have to buy them or get them by hacking data sites

dumb question I was waiting until today to check, but will the challenges ever be reset during event? I know multiple people that don’t want to risk it in t5’s and 1 of them has 3 chaotic challenges and I personally have 2. Most have said if it doesn’t reset they’ll just move on instead of doing the event.
obviously not everyone is that way but from quite a few people in the events channel have agreed on what I mentioned above.

I’ll contract you 5 Gamma lvl 1 filaments. They should will give you enough lvl 2 and lvl 3 filaments to go on (or to sell 'em) . Gamma sites do have bonus for shield strength so any shield-tanked cruiser should be able to run lvl 1

Has anyone got something out of the Triglavian cache besides the Triglavian Cache Data when you put the survey sheets in? I have run T4s and T5s of various types and gotten over 200 cache data but that is it.
- Looks like the worst event so far. Starting from the annoying and completely unnecesary buttons for finishing tasks in the agency, then non-resetting on donwtime tasks. Also to note that Abyss is far more risky then previous event-related content and yet this event is quite less rewarding.
- Yet it did make me to undock and run few sites on different ships, so not completely useless event.

I am afraid not. there are rumours that the mutaplasmids for the ancillary mods are hidden in the mutaplasmid chain, but I am not going to risk quarter of a billion isk to buy the starting mutaplasmid, and a faction module to find out, and risk losing it all, just for a few points, especially as the ancillary mutaplasmids awarded have a price in Jita wouldn’t even go anywhere near covering the costs. somehow, I cannot make up their mind if they considered this, and simply didn’t take it into account, or they really don’t have a clue about the game? It’s hard to tell, but after resource wars and a couple of the last event decisions, It is concerning.

They never claimed to have removed empty caches, just reduced their potential. I would sometimes have 4-5 empties while running 3 sites (9 total loot cans), now I seldom have more than 1 empty per every… 10 sites? (30 total loot cans) %age chance of empty has gone way, way down, mostly by red loot chance going way up per can.
Yeah, I do wonder if the rat kills carry over or not. I suspect they do not, which means we have to click the rewards thingie WHILE we’re running the abyss site, which is just bonkers.
Depends on what you want from them. Your other replies, I suspect, are comparing them to nullsec ratting, Rorqual mining, incursion running, or even mission running… sure, it isn’t profitable compared to that. Usually neither are event sites beyond the first day or two, on that note.
I made my fortune from years of incursioning, I’m running the abyss since mid-June because it’s something new, for fun, and because I wanted to get all the new ships “for free”… and I’ve now built 3 frigs, 3 cruisers, and 3 battleships and trained into the skills for them on 3 characters all with the skillbooks and blueprints I got from doing the abyss sites myself.
If that doesn’t appeal to you? Well, there’s the plasmids. Which personally don’t appeal to me, I just let them pile up. The first time I used them was yesterday to get some agency points from using decayed plasmids during this event. And now it wants me to use my precious gravids… hah…
Once you start doing t1/t2 sites, you will be getting enough extra filaments as loot from the sites to keep running sites. I usually end up with more filaments at the end of a night of running the abyss than I started with. I bought a few + did some data exploration at the very start, haven’t had to buy any since June.

This is a huge opportunity for Tier 5 runners. For every new round these 5 tasks, the people who run Tier 5 rake in Accelerators en masse. 
And the rest of players… well. They’re kind of getting the rake.
