Security status effects tethering

Just took this picture.

Police is unnaceptable, can’t use even a stealth bomber in peace.

This is for the low sec players, you do know it’s not compulsory to be -10 to live there.

Low sec was once filled with player with high standings, we had pockets of pirate groups and non pirate groups. The attitude of kill anything that moves in low was not there unless you was from said pirate group. We would roam around looking for these pirate groups who would do the same to us.

But if you want to be a pirate from low you can you just need one alt to run to high for your ships and equipment

I remember one day logging in, we had about 10 corps living in a small area together, when these pirate blocker our gate in and out our area with a mom and two dreads, we battled for hours in the end they lost the 2 dreads at an npc station, we couldn’t shift the mom but lucky they pulled it out, it was a great battle,

we never had tether, couldn’t survive in high sec for long with low standing and I don’t think we even had wars, but we did have, Cavalry Ravens and mines.

Unbiased reply thanks.

Even as a highsec ganker I agree that docking *at NPC stations in highsec while being criminal or having very low security status is not logical and I don’t mind that to be restricted. They can’t really stop me staging directly from Jita 4-4 anyway though, I just gank a pod, fly to safespot and self-destruct there to teleport back to 4-4. Tornado gankers doesn’t use implants either and mostly get podded by AG anyway, so it won’t stop them either.

I agree that commiting a crime should have a consequences so I don’t really get the problem of the low-seccers. They can easily avoid losing security status if they only attack “legal” targets, they can buy tags - that is what they are for, not just highsec gankers and they can use alt to buy stuff at jita and bring it themselves with that alt to low or use courier contract. In fact this can be done without alt, you just fly to first system in The Forge region, buy the stuff you need, remote courier it and go back to lowsec. It will also give an opportunity to make low-sec trading hubs and supply them. Some players are already doing this with hulls and it is great.

I don’t understand why you aren’t upset of the alpha clone safety restriction though, that is not a good at all imo. It also restricts alphas from using smartbombs for PVE. It doesn’t really changes anything for a gankers besides me, as to my knowledge I am the only one using more than 1 alpha clone for ganking. (Other usages are pulling concord, but with 1 character that is pretty pointless, and spawning concord where you want it - which is a nerf for carebears, they will have to dedicaed an omega slot to do that now). So the only one who this impacts are casual or new players in alpha like you.

You are absolutely right about clone soldier tags. The currently supply won’t be able to meet the new demand and their price is way too high too. I regularly spend 2b monthly to keep my main character above -2.5 sec status and this cost lately risen to 3b as I fix sec status of several alts now. However I don’t think the spawn can be adjusted, that would make them far too frequent on the belts etc. etc. So instead, what needs to happen, and I suggested this already in another thread, is that:

  • recruiter tag to be up to -4
  • at least transporter and negotiator tags to give double their security rating bonus right now ie +1.0

I noticed something like this too, like do corps even vent their members? It’s like this faction war won’t work unless there is some form of trust. Like who will fight along your side? It is Free for all and even that becomes tiresome. Only ever had a few 1v1 fights and those were fun even that long ago time when I had the privilege of 1v1 vs the Judge Sarn right before it becomes a 2v1 then well I can’t 3v1 like how I seen The Judge 3v1 or even 4v1.

It is just something feels missing with Eve Online pvp.

Gank characters only require a very limited skill set. So you can drain them every month and sell the injectors to get at least some PLEX back to lower the cost. No idea how much that saves you at the moment, but there was a time when you could get basically free omega alts that way.

I don’t think they change anything about docking actually. It says in the right column it’s for criminal status, so that is just the current behavior, maybe just better explained.

The tethering changes may impact some gankers, but they can just revert back to insta-undock bookmarks they used before tethering was a thing.

I explored this possibility but it is not so cheap and easy as peoples make it sound.

You need +5 implants for this to be effective therefore you don’t want to train the skills on the gank alt and must first train gank alt and then skill farm alt who won’t undock.

Then you need to train 5million SP first as you cannot extract skills if you have less than 5.5mil. That takes time, plenty of time if you don’t sub first and train this with alpha clone status.

And right now, extractor is ± 500mil, injector is ± 900mil, minus taxes lets say the raw profit will be 350mil per injector. I don’t know how many SP you can train up in one month I haven’t test that yet, but I doubt it will be 3.500.000 that you would need to buy 500 PLEX at current prices.

Right, it probably won’t be restricted, but in case it would have, that is a nerf I agree with.

Loss of tether is quite huge nerf to ganking. It makes a lot of ganking nearly impossible completely without subbing another multibox alt (for example ganking autopiloting capsules, shuttles, frigates - without tether, it will require a scout one system ahead as otherwise there is not enough time) and overall makes ganking much more annoying than it is. It will still be possible, but very annoying to deal with and prone to errors. As if pulling concord wasn’t enough they want to make it even more unfun by this…

Last time I did this, and that was completely unoptimized, without implants or farm alt or anything, I could get 3-4 injectors per char per month. But yeah, with that PLEX prices and that low yield it’s just a fraction of what it shaved off the bill.

Oh well, probably not coming back anytime soon anyway

I kinda expected them to go further than that a long time ago, close the gates and don’t even allow pods to dock with low sec status. I already prepped for that occasion

Not really, they kill also newbros, keep in mind that there are a lot of 4 billion gilas there and 5+ billion freighters, there are few T2 fitted paladins from what I saw as well, so something has to drag that value down. For every 5 billion isk worth kill, there is 9 more which are super low value.

That is fair point, but how many people do that before they get ganked. Sure, you might do it so that gankers go and find easier value, but somebody else might not do it and then we are again back to the bottom of my post, is ganking detracting CCP’s profits or not? And again, as said, debatable to infinity.

I mean I am fine with ganking existing, but not in current form. There needs to be more involved gameplay, maybe ship id spoofer which you can only have active on one ship at the time and you need to manufacture it or something along those lines that you need to have as item to enter high security space, which might fail if NPC police or other players scan you randomly on gates, etc… You usually don’t see known criminals just walking around and killing people around. As it stands, just undocking certain ships is already enough for somebody to end the night on your kill just to buffer up his killboard value, even if he gets nothing out of it with very little consequences (loosing catalyst to concord is not enough of consequence)

Thanks for the thoughtful response.

In terms of not being bothered about setting my stoplight to red as an alpha, it just doesn’t seem like something I need. I can go to LS or NS if I want to avoid the police, so doing crime is super low on the list of things I’m limited by. I’d trade it for a prototype cloak, or more than one contract, any day!

In terms of how to make fixing sec status with tags your idea makes sense too. Whether it’s adding more clone soldier spawns, adding those tags elsewhere (explo), or making them stronger, the point is there’s lots of dynamic ways CCP can balance that equation on the fly once the new rules are in place. IMO it would be fun for them to do it without telling anyone too.

Good luck to all the gankers. I hope this offers you exciting new challenges that shake up the meta and bring new thinking to the game o7

You don’t have to, but you are sure going to hear more of my opinion if you continue to promote your degenerative passivity.

EDIT: Please complete your censorship of the word degenerate on the linked and all other threads, thank you.

You’ve fallen into the classic trap of a numerate economy when you should be thinking in terms of natural ecology.

The amount of damage done is irrelevant. It is the predator pressure and perhaps irrational fear of predator pressure that keeps the poor dears moving else they would sit in place and “eat the trees” causing whole ecology to collapse.

I agree it is challenging to match practicality to immersive role-play, but that is what makes it fun to attempt.

If this comes to pass, it is the Cloister Bells ringing, and you won’t even know it sadly.

You’ve fallen into the classic trap of missing the big picture. If the deer had to pay 20 euros per month to eat in the park with predators, deer might choose to pay different amount to eat in another park… then the predator can sit in place and “eat the trees”, causing even more damage.

This worked https://www.yellowstonepark.com/things-to-do/wildlife/wolf-reintroduction-changes-ecosystem/, because they introduced 14 wolves, which rose to about 300-400, their population is tracked and if there are to many wolves, causing more problems than benefits, there will be thinning of the herd (pack in this case) with an update.

Who cares if people play another game. This whole “people are playing other games instead of Eve Online and it’s bad” mentality is awful. Let people play the games that they want, and if Eve Online’s niche is not suited for people that want to farm in peace and don’t want to change their mentality to deal with a dangerous universe, tough. People will still be out in space shooting each other without those soft folks and the players still playing Eve will deal accordingly, just like the past 19 years of “eve is dying”.

There is no other park. This is the only game with a living ecosystem.
If the oh-dears don’t like living they should go extinct.
