Security status effects tethering

I agree. It’s exciting to think someone(s) could be hunting me while I’m exploring or missioning. Gets me head spinning and weak at the knees.

Yea. It’s the official name for it. Try as you might to disguise it under a slang word, Griefing is the correct and internationally accepted term for the more crude and rude word “Ganking”. That sounds awful and doesn’t belong to the English family of words.

The Griefers take it more seriously than that with an extensive network of spies throughout the galaxy, a presence on the CSM and unlimited Null resources.

You’re right, we do.

No, we just want blood-crazed berserker pilots to be a little more civilized and monitored then sent to a security space where it’s okay to go nuts and grief on capsuleers and that’s Nullsec.

I don’t think I’m the only one who considers themselves to be an amateur low-sec “rabbit” for fun. There’s real joy in bugs-bunny vibe.

That’s interesting. You are saying that it depends on both your own sec status and the sec status of your target.

And the security of the system, yes. Pirating in a 0.4 is 4x the penalty of pirating in a 0.1.

No ?

You can grief without gank, eg using scams or stealing people’s loot. That grief is the reason CCP made missions specific items drop in cargo.

You can also gank without grief, typically counter ganking in NS. Or killing the gankers’ ships in HS before they can kill your friend.

The fact that in HS many gankers are also griefers, is because the game encourages multiple accounts. So people who enjoy griefing can do it easier with multiple accounts - it’s “Pay 2 Grief”.

But you can’t gank without grief. They’re inseparable.
That’s why the game should either be 100% PvP or 100% PvE. Mixing both on the same server is ♤#@◇□~

Yes you can  . I literally gave example .

What’s griefing is spouting this kind of :poop: on the forums without making it entertaining by writing some decent original content.

0/10 troll bait, neither original nor entertaining to read.

You just want no risk, and thats the bottom line.

What about if you gank someone who is griefing you? Does that now make you the griefer?

Which, translated into English, is ‘people playing the actual game’.

Quite how someone gets to be a ‘griefer’ for shooting someone up in a space shoot-em-up game is mystifying. The whole idea of the game is to shoot stuff. The entire economy is a huge pyramid in which the apex is stuff being shot. It is somewhat surreal having to even argue this point with people.

If anything is ‘psychologically traumatising’ it is having to keep pointing out that there’s space shoot-em-ups in a space shoot-em-up game. Having to argue over whether 2 + 2 = 4 is pretty damned near the epitome of griefing.

There is nothing mystifying about this.
It’s a sock puppet alt forum account trying to:

  1. validate and make their main more creditable, while
  2. saying inflammatory things to get other people banned, simultaneously
  3. trying to shut down threads and silence people.

Best course of action: Don’t engage.

I love how @Scipio_Artelius just pops up at random intervals with the actual facts.

Thats simply untrue, nobody needs an “army of neutral alts” there. I lived in LowSec for like 5 years as a -10 before it became Hotdropland and the only alt you need for supply is a Hauler who can fly a T2 Transporter. Everything else is pure luxury and especially if you are part of a corp that lives there, absolutely not needed because you will have some kind of corp logistic you can use and well filled corp hangars for ammo, paste, modules, boosters etc. pp. If not, your corp sucks.

Maybe rethink your way of life in Lowsec then.

You can be a RESIDENT there for the better financial options you have (gas, exploration, ore, anos/sigs, reactions) then you don’t need to actively attack anyone you can lock. It is not mandatory to shoot everyone on sight, especially not if you are in the far superior ship/gang, killing and podding travelers. Which is what the highest sec status penalties give.

But if you choose to, you are a PIRATE and should give a **** on your SecStatus. When I lived in lowsec, we don’t even had tags to easily undo our actions. And in this case you dont “farm tags for yourself” because you can’t repair your sec status anyway if you are good at killing stuff. At least I would laugh at anyone trying to “farm tags” each time he has killed a few ships to “reair sec”. Thats a ridiculously stupid waste of time.

Maybe you take a closer look. From my roughly 2000 kills on this char, 1750 were done in LowSec as a -10. I left Lowsec when it became a HotDropPark, first with Caps, later with Titanbridges and now with BlackOps. Smallscale PvP basically ran dry and WH Space offered way better fights and I don’t regret it. Recently I focused on other aspects of the game (mainly Industry), only using this PvP Char for some public fleets now and then. So your “first look” might have mislead you quite a bit. You can rest assured I have lived in Low for years and know pretty well how to behave, fight, and supply myself there. Even when there weren’t any tags to quickly boost SecStatus. There is a simple solution for your problem: Don’t attack everyone at first sight, especially not the “easy targets”. You don’t get any hit when being attacked first, you don’t get any hit when shooting outlaws and suspects and you get significant less hits when you stop podding. If you cannot do that because you are in fact a triggerhappy PIRATE then for gods sake live with the -10 badge and stop wasting your time collecting tag to repair.

I love the way that you put words in my mouth, did I ever suggest that active PvP’rs love PVE? Can’t see that anywhere in any of my posts, you just made it up and then went off on it as if it meant something. PvP players do PvE as a means to an end, in any case with a logistics alt you don’t need to move your main PvP alt into hisec do you?

I said real lowsec PvP player, omitting the lowsec part meant that you could go off on some irrelevant bullshite again.

What a dreadful troll you are.

Tag are easy to get, I have farmed them myself in the past, though I did give them away to AG players ganking ganker scouts…

Thanks! That’s 2209 belts in some 200 systems. I have no idea the spawn rate of clone soldiers, but let’s assume it’s a generous 10% over the course of an hour, all belts can be perfectly ratted in a system at perfect tick time intervals, everything min/maxed. That’s 221 of the top two kinds of tags an hour, or 5,304 per day. It takes 4 of each so 8 tags total for a capsuleer with really bad sec status, so that’s 663 people a day.

That’s a super optimistic upper bound, but I actually think a lower true number is still reasonable given the estimated population size of today.

“Man who didn’t give a crap about tags and boasts about how his lowsec playstyle is the correct one, craps on other people who do care about tags and have a different playstyle. News at 11.”

If I want to go on a murder-hobo rampage sliding in on FW plexes and not be -10, that’s my perogative. I don’t care if you laugh, I’m having fun.

You can do that all the time, but please don’t complain then if your actions lead to harsh sec hits. I just explained why it is in no way a desaster for Lowsec players. All those who don’t need the tags for themselves because they are there to burn stuff as much as they can will be Outlaw quickly and will just benefit from higher Tag prices when they sell them and more Targets from people who want to farm them. All those who are there for the better financial options and don’t shoot anyone on sight will benefit from the higher tag prices as well when they find them while ratting.

If it is a downside for your specific style of play that involves lots of kills while still wanting to have a high sec status (like having a cake and eating it too), then sorry to hear that. But please don’t try to make it look like it affects basically everyone in Low, because it doesnt. The most part of the population will benefit from it.
