The point is as soon as an Alpha is in high sec, their safety is either green or yellow. So that when someone loses a billion isk in their T1 hauler, they can take solace knowing that the ganker is Omega and not Alpha, and I am sure there will be no further complaints from the victim that would replace this would-be “but they’re an Alpha” complaint in its stead. /s
Gankers are omega. There are no alpha ganker fleets, this is a legend. In addition alpha gunnery skills suck when ganking.
Alpha gankers are mainly people who is curious about ganking and want to try the art before comiting with an omega.
Multibox gankers will remain.
The hunt of challenging targets will decrease.
Ganking fleets comprised by several players will disapear.
“rookie griefing” will become the rule because the new rules encourage easy target ganking instead pf marauders, orthus, gilas or stratios. I can just undock in an atron and dunk a noob venture 100% sure.
Is it what Mike Azariah was really advicing CCP to stop “rookie griefing”? this guy is 100% disconected from the game.
And that is griefing? But ok lets say it is.
- How does these changes prevent this?
- Anyone doing this will sooner or later be given an ultimate from GM to stop doing it or he risks ban. (Speaking from my experience, when I hot 6th month in EVE I was doing this in Clellion with brand new alt and did this in order to learn pvp, but despite I used <30day alt and t1 stuff bought in the systems and was even losing sometimes GMs didn’t like it anyway)
btw can you link these players klllboard? I was doing career agents on several chars recently in Uitra and Deepari and didn’t see anyone doing this.
I don’t see how this is really going to end high value ganking.
-10 pod docks up with their buds
They all ship to a catalsyt
They all insta-undock fleet warp to SS off station
Fleet warp to target
Blap
It’s what I would do.
Sure, it’s not as convenient as hanging off a teather, but it seems doable.
Crybears think that these nerfs protect them. But really all it does is make gankers craftier, and more resilient as they become more soft, and lazy.
This was my anecdotal experience, too. I have alphas, but only use them for drudgery low-skill stuff.
I agree with the remainder of your post. When the dust settles, there will be a shift in the environment for larger operators and, as Destiny pointed out, it will affect the fleets. Lowsec, too.
Until CCP gives us a sure-fire way of identifying genuinely new players, ganks of all sorts will continue.
It isn’t correct to equate the ganking of ‘low value targets’ with griefing when a low-value ship might be carrying a high-value cargo, and piloted by an apparently new player who just happens to be the alt of a Nullsec veteran.
In other words, it’s still a muddle.
Docking restrictions or outlaws in high security space
In addition to being attacked by Empire faction police (and unable to cloak or tether) players with security status -5.0 and below (outlaws) will no longer be allowed to dock in any structure or station in high security space while piloting a ship.
They really just hate lowsec people. I stationed out of Jita when I was full flashy (-10) doing my solo frigate thing.
Logistics is going to be annoying for lowsec solo players, since we can’t stage out of highsec systems anymore. I guess, it’s great that there’re so little solo PvP’ers left.
Because when you fail to engage a high value orthus, stratios, marauder, you lose your nado/talos/coercer. you are not able to dock and FacPo dunks your ship if you eject . You can only dock in pods.
The “for profit” ganking is the affected area. I can just undock in an atron and dunk any rookie because I know i will dunk him almost 100% sure.
In addition the tethering is useful for multiplayer ganking fleets. A single big multoboxer can just undock and dunk anything, but it is way difficult when coordinating several players.
Then this measure encourages multibox gankers and it is against a more social way of ganking.
It is exactly the oposite of “rookie griefing” protection.
It’s not like tether has been in the game forever.
For profit ganking was possible and effective pre-Upwell structures and it still will be. Just requires returning to the use of insta-undocks and lots of bookmarks. It’ll be possible and effective still, post this change.
Ya, you’re right.
Thanks for the explanation.
I think, I’m gunna do a bit low value ganking in high sec for the giggles now.
This was a brilliant move to protect the noobs.
1)Well time is the issue, it takes time to farm those npc’s ship setup etc and can’t just be quickly done even the Transporter npc’s can be a issue when not fully fitted for the task.
RISK VS Reward is the reason for the low cost fit as the tags currently sell for less than 20M
2)Re; level 4 missions with the ALT Not only time is at hand but running level needs that 2nd Omega to help repair the Ganker alt so it goes against the normal gameplay.
Capsuleers need a 3rd option or at least increase the spawn or drop frequency or like mentioned above tag prices are going to skyrocket changing the gameplay for many.
That was a test on live too, did some homework on how to obtain a few tags days ago.
And bumping. The irony being that there will now be less chance of bumpers being ganked…lol. I mean, ganking is really the only recourse for highsec bumping. So all the bumpers gonna have a field day now.
Also, just a random thought…
As part of the Uprising expansion, we are making some important changes that will largely affect players in Highsec. The goal of these designs is to address the following issues:
- Griefing of new players and low value targets
- Risk vs Reward dynamic of Abyssal Deadspace filaments
- Shortage of legitimate player targets in high security space
How did these changes address “Shortage of legitimate player targets in high security space” by decreasing what is considered a legitimate target? Or am I reading this wrong?
What this change DOES mean is that miners will no longer be able to use alphas to pull CONCORD into their belts. What a shame. /s
I think it means the negative security status will be seen as the legitimate player target in highsec space!
But outlaws have always been free to fire upon. So it’s the same?
While tethered yes, but removing tether would make them a target from both player and faction police.
/
See I am pushing for either a 3rd option to repair status or increase tag frequency ie qty of tags dropped or double npc spawns where also then requires a better fit ship to tackle or fleet gameplay to handle two npc on one at the same time (risk vs reward)
Yes, this nerf protects rich haulers, te tether was for killing big expensive stuff
It changes nothing for tiny ganks
A few days ago Draclav commented about disabling tether and I remembered the first time I heard such talk… it was among ultra rich haulers
It was the ultra rich haulers who wanted the tether disabled, they also have bots all around
The miners were ok already with their buffs, you don’t need tether to gank an Orca because in most cases they die in shotgun fleets anyway
I disagree, because now you’re taking money out of MY wallet. Those tags are going to go up in price. Don’t you go touching my wallet.
Yeah, this week I gated a bomber through highsec with a -9 alt and I had to dock because I had a house emergency, then I undocked, finished my trip and went back to low sec
Now this won’t be possible anymore
CCP did this changes that just helps rich haulers, everybody else will lose or won’t matter
