I’m not interested in your non-sequitur trolling. I no longer have either the time or the patience to read the rubbish you post.
But that “aspiration goal” is not “Everyone go pew pew all the time”. It’s that every aspect of EVE is PvP, whether that’s piracy, mining, or whatever. If the core of EVE is just shooting each other then we can just get rid off all PvE, all industry and the player run market, right? Because none of that is core if the only core principle of EVE is a free for all deathmatch.
I think you’re oversimplifying to support a playstyle you like.
@Altara_Zemara
Why keep replying then?
Where is your proof that it will?
Because its Fri nite!
It has to be cocaine, there’s no logical explanation… or maybe even coca lavada!!
Just livin’ la vida loca.
Every time I smell a fresh C-note…
Why is the onus for proof always on everyone else?
I don’t know for sure if it would get a lot of players engaged but EVE is a sneeze away from a death rattle and I don’t think that appealing to a wider market could do much worse than it’s currently doing.
Remember those words please.
I see a difference between “Expect you might get shot at any time” and “Everyone must go pew pew all the time”. The former is about what could happen to you, the latter is what you would (or, I guess, “have to” with the way you phrased it?) do to others.
Eve has never mandated that I shoot anyone, and I never did kill anyone (Unless you count a single mobile warp disruptor in null), so anything I like about the gaming style would have to be derived from other people doing it.
They’re making the game your way, anyway, so whatever I say it makes no difference. I already did what I could in protest. I quit, an I’m not giving CCP any more of my money. Everyone else can tolerate it, and that’s fine, but I think that infinite tolerance paired with the thin skins of those who quit a PvP game when they lose a ship worth nearly nothing is what makes CCP’s choice to cater to the latter possible. They can have their cake and eat it too.
You could not prove to a child that eating vegetables instead of cookies was for their own good. They can eat a cookie today and show you it did no harm. You would not be able to proove that cookies rot their teeth and give them diabetes until they had rotten teeth and diabetes. Players want all the sugar and none of the healthy adversity that shapes them into healthy players, and I don’t blame them for that. I do not blame the developers, either, because kids these days will get their candy somewhere else since everyone’s offering and CCP still wants to get paid.
Watering down the game will only produce a short term rise in players…and not those who see Eve as a long term commitment. You’ll get a lot of players who will be bored within 6 months. And then player numbers will be even lower than before, because CCP will have cheesed off a lot of the longer term players and bored to death all the new players. See…that’s what happens when a company with a niche product tries to please all the people all the time but ends up cheesing off everyone. The goose that lays the golden egg ends up dying.
That is why I say, people such as yourself are not ‘saving’ Eve. You are the ones responsible for its demise.
Jeez are the ultrapacifist extremists still at protest trying to “make the Eve universe a ‘better’ place?”
Is it never enough that the New Eden universe seems good now? How much floor wax are these ultrapacifist extremist people buying up to polish their slope to a slip-hazard degree?
UO
I notice how you dodged the question.
I know why you did
You made the claim bruv, so the onus is on you.
Learn how to argue kthx.
Oh? It could be worse. Dying a pale weak imitation of itself is worse than going out as it was meant to be.
Sadly its happened before.
They have bettered the game to point of where we have today’s numbers.
Sure it is. Why wouldn’t it be? There are no character levels in EVE.
The FAQ outlines more than just the fundamental principles of the game (and even then, not all of them). In most cases it outlines the state of the mechanics as they existed at the time the guide was written.
However, where there are fundamental/core principles of the game design, those haven’t changed since 2003.
This might be relevant:
Are any of these players still playing?
Probably not the ones in Doomheim. Two or three of them look familiar. Oddly enough, it doesn’t look like any Lucas alts commented on that thread.
One of them is
