So this issue has been discussed in the past but not clearly in my opinion.
The issue is simple, being in a corporation with many other people and trying to do industry
operations with 10+ of my alts is a bit of a chore. To start producing things I have to delegate jobs between my toons and to do that I have to keep contracting hangar containers between them.
I think I read somewhere that it’s mainly old code issue. With new Python being implemented into EVE in coming years this issue might be resolved, but that’s my wild guess.
Does anybody know if that’s the issue with having shared space or if EVE devs already said somewhere they cant or wont do it? And what do you think about this issue in terms of doing industry?
That’s only an issue in player citadels. Hangar sharing works just fine in NPC stations. As the CEO, I can drag and drop whatever I need into other member’s hangars without having to contract.
If it works for NPC stations then why is it so hard to implement to POSes? Damn, this issue is so needlessly convoluted and resolving this would help everyone who do industry, hell, everyone with multiple alts. I don’t see it being discussed a lot so probably nobody cares which is baffling to me.
Access Control Lists are a thing, shared channels are a thing, shared bookmarks are a thing, sharing hangars are a thing (corp & sections).
I don’t see why ACL hangars aren’t a thing, other than self-imposed technical limitations.
This feature has been asked since the dawn of time, CCP not acting on it in anyway is disappointing.
Lowering the industry friction would probably help the economy too, I hope we can see this feature one day. But I have little hope, seeing how poorly the PI reset button was implemented.
As far as I can find out, we have actually lost this. With a PoS the old timers could anchor containers in space to access by password, if I understand this functionality correctly, we have no similar mechanic today.
