I agree. I once made a jesty playful banter style of comment to a CEO of a prominent FW corp, who was making a complaint in local after a fight didn’t go as planned. What followed was schoolboy level of insults flung at me, I just tried to defuse and when that didn’t happen, simply left to let him stew in his own verbal sewage.
Generally, people need to re-learn how to take a game as fun. It doesn’t matter if they are a “carebear” or “hardcore PvPer”: ships will explode and things not go as desired.
Wast Majority of the agressors can handle it. But why should they? Why do you keep trying to justify toxic behavior? Even if the game itself evokes it somehow, and I don’t agree with that, it is still clearly anti-social behavior and if you don’t punish those players they will only spread the toxicity further and it escalates.
I took my lesson ignoring the toxicity against myself and my game server on a discord. End result for doing that was more toxicity to the point it made me completely lose motivation to work on it anymore. In the end I had to ban not just 1 toxic player who started that crap, but 3 more who saw that he is getting away with it and started doing it too.
Seriously Io, either stay on the “Mad as a March Hare” list where I had you, or move to the “Intelligent Life May Exist Here” list, but please stop hopping back and forth. It’s distracting.

Yep I get spotted occasionally as well, often followed by “Hold still while I come shoot you”. The rarity of seeing or being seen by someone else active on the forums drives home just what a tiny segment of EVE’s player base we are. Which puts “the madness of the forums” in perfect perspective.

If you doing that in high security the people there don’t want to play ball with you ,
in low sec is consensual
PVP is allowed in Highsec, it comes with rules of engagement and penalties for infringement that are swift and decisive. for example, you can duel someone and shoot their ship out from under them with zero consequences by engaging in a duel (if they accept).
Or you can sucker them in to attacking you, and force them to eat Concord cutting lasers.
Or you can draw them out to Lowsec or Nullsec where there is less of a penalty to unsanctioned pew pew.
Or you can make yourself suspect by stealing a can or some other thing that turns you yellow blinky, allow someone you know you can tank to shoot you hence engage in limited combat where you can then turn their pretty little spaceship into glitter, again with zero consequences.
Or you can simply go out in a cheap gank tank destroyer, blow up a hauler, fly in an alt in another hauler and loot the wreck (and your concorded wreck) and make dank ISK. When you’ve sold the loot for that dank ISK you buy tags and turn them in for standings. Rinse and repeat.
PVP is legal. PVP is encouraged. The mechanisms for many types of Highsec PVP are there ready to be utilised, and every one of them is legitimate gameplay. If you don’t like that idea, there are mechanisms to avoid Highsec PVP that are every bit as involved in their learning curve as the art of the gank itself. Moaning at the devs on a public forum to change the game mechanics in favour of someone who can’t be bothered to learn how to play the game is just… laughable if it wasn’t so pathetically whiney.
