I chose it completely and one hundred percent deliberately, let’s not even pretend otherwise. The moniker makes me laugh, makes me smile and brings joy to the world around it, planting a dirty thought in your head in the process. But it also spites convention and fear of alienation, it is a rebel’s warcry to stiffling and entrenched dogmas and practices, it is wearing the flag of freedom and personal expression proudly on it’s chin, it screams at you “Yes, I know what the name implies, and I chose it anyway!”
Also, I just think it’s funny, and that’s the most important reason.
Yeah makes sense, and I guess most people will take it that way, however as am from Europe where one is exposed to many surrounding languages and names it never even occurred to me until now that it might be used in such a way and not in its “original” meaning (as in the German version of “fox” and well known surname).
Let’s go one step further by requesting a new link to be developed that would allow a pilot to target the stargate and link to that gate for a small amount of time forcing the gate to go offline.
This will also flag the pilot as suspect “flashy yellow “ though could introduce a new interesting form of control for systems that don’t see a high frequency of pilots and by being able to offline a gate introduces the need to online the gate via the same mechanism.
In my personal opinion, Lancer Dreads are a special use case. Anyone can lance someone coming out of cloak on a gate, but for those who are able to lance someone landing on a gate? Yeah, you deserve the kill…
