Lol…you really think that losing an amount of ISK on par with about 3p in real life is even gonna pay for that pork chop ? I’m in other virtual worlds where I pay the equivalent of 3bn ISK a month just for a house to live in. Thus far Eve is peanuts to me…which…is precisely why I can laugh at it all, and some of the overly pretentious people in it.
Heck, the half eaten biscuit the dog left outside has been ‘slaughtered’ more.

Also, you sure have put in a lot of words on the topic for someone not at all upset about their loss (don’t get me wrong, I know all of this is a ruse, but it is what it is).

I’m far from being the only person who finds the entire dynamic of what is laughably called ‘high security’ utterly bizarre and even bordering on insane. ‘Security’ managed by a police force that effectively PROTECTS blatantly suspicious criminals sitting right under their nose. WE all know the people sitting at that gate are gankers…but apparently the police force in 23341 is SO advanced and AI recognition so well developed that the police don’t.
The entire dynamic is on par with the local rl police giving burglars a police escort to your door and standing outside to protect them in case you proactively thump one of them to prevent your car being stolen. Because, of course, the fantastically advanced 23341 police, circling around in their 23341 BMW X8s in this ‘highly secure’ area, would make YOU the criminal for even thinking about doing that. One can only hope the REAL 23341 is not implemented by people who’ve escaped from the same padded cell those who designed this functionality in Eve clearly escaped from.

Friend, this is a video game, not real life. The police “protecting criminals” makes about as much sense as asteroid belts replenishing their rocks every 24 hours. If you start bringing RL into this, you’re just going to get the thread locked.
Of course its a video game…but even in a video game I’m entitled to laugh at the physics defying antics of Skyrim dragons, wonder why people on a planet on the other side of the galaxy are dressed up as Romans, laugh at an emperor called Martin while everyone else has fancy names, and so on. Violating the 4th wall of virtual worlds often provides some of the funniest moments.
By the same token I laugh at ‘high security’ in Eve.

Miners def don’t pay attention every second. You keep using the excuse of going AFK and how miners can’t and supposedly gankers can. Yet that is very false. Going AFK brings risks for all playstyles. Hence why if you go AFK, you should safe or dock.
If you don’t, you accept the risks.
And mining in a cata? LOL no one mines in a cata.
Local is the best tool. Literally no skill can defend against it. And uh how hard is to press V? Seriously?
