Solution to suicide gankers?

The biggest bafflement to me is why people mine in places like 0.6 Isanamo, with 14 seconds Concord response time, when there’s no end of 0.8 systems with 7 seconds Concord response time and good asteroid belts. I used to regularly mine in 0.8 Mirilene…and never once saw Safety there. In fact it is probably one of the safest systems in Eve.

The issue we have here…

Is that was said about wardecs…
Everyone that used them for various reasons told the carebears ganking would increase by default…

Wardec mechanic changes did not bring in new players, did not help retain players…
and guess what? Ganking increased…cause we can no longer use Decs to force political or resource control.

I had never associated that with Vonnegut.

"It was then that Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General, came into the
studio with a double-barreled ten-gauge shotgun. She fired twice, and the
Emperor and the Empress were dead before they hit the floor. "

I see what you’re saying here. But this is also a bit of an example of being ganked when you fly bling.

No, what won it for him is when he provided his argument for you (on your demand) and your counter was…

“I’m not going to read it! Don’t bury me in a wall of text because I’m to lazy and self absorbed in my own logical fallacies to read that trite! How dare you! It might just broaden my narrow point of view and I can’t have that!”

“Reeeeeeee!”

“But I’m logical! Logical dammit! All of you are the illogical plebs! Stop attacking my character and focus on my logic!”

That’s the kind of emotional terrorism that really hurts your credibility.

I have suggested before a kind of ADCU.

??? https://www.adcu.org.uk/

Assault Damage Control Unit

Would that be a 100% save in a Highsec gank though?

hence why I said “a kind of…”

I am not sure how to modify it exactly but the idea is a cool down that if hit at exactly the right time, will help you.

Can gankers also get a button to hit at the right time and help them?

How about it were to act simular to the Capital Emergency Hull Energizer where it lasts 14 seconds or this case a lot less say 3 seconds for highsec and that module also can not be repeated.

This would curb ganking in 1.0 systems if the module was activated in time.

Could this be a solution? Or would it upset the current balance?

right

I have thought about how far the play/counterplay would work. I imagine there are ways to make it so that both sides feel like they have something to do. They would have to have exact timing (which means they cannot be AFK) AND perhaps it could still be compensated for by the ganker in one way or another.

The problem, if there is one, is the perception of absence of counterplay by the victim. Giving them something to do, even if it isn’t always effective, or could be anticipated, would make them feel empowered, and most likely many of them will fail to activate it correctly.

I am personally of the opinion that the counterplay by the victim largely ends once the situation is realized, not when the gank is complete. However, I also agree that feeling like there is NOTHING you can do from here on out is discouraging enough to make people not want to continue doing the activity, rather than face the challenge.

The question is where does the play and counterplay end?

Right, something like this

Yeah something like that. Restricting time, or damage type, or resistance level given would all allow some reasonable option.

A good way of thinking about it is the new warp core stab. It will defeat those not prepared for it, but if someone is, it can countered.

The Death Rattle of Eve.

No just balance it by increasing Concords actual response times to cater for the a new panic module.

Then eveybody would be happy!

EVE was better when it was a nitch game.

So, in other words, you have no experience on what you’re posting on?

There is already loads a potential victim can do…to not become a victim in the first place. Adding ganker groups to bad standing so they show in Local. Sending a scout in advance. Being aware of ‘ships destroyed in the past hour’ on the map. And so on. A few hours ago I had 5 Tornados follow me to a station and wait outside…something I checked using my scout. I just logged off and went mining in an alt toon for half an hour, and they were gone when I logged in again. Being aware is the best prevention of ganking. A lot of miners don’t seem to even look at zkillboard before deciding where to mine. Isanamo, for example, is the last place I’d go mining.

5 hours ago I ate pizza, it was amazing!

Thats about as relevant as any other post.

We all got what we asked for.

Give the gankers another option and it would end. But that was then, and this is now.

I could support this, as long as you have a 50% chance of blowing up on your next gate jump.
