Complete silence from the part of CCP. Just like world sounds.
Same here (WINE client on 2015 Macbook Pro running macOS 10.15.5). Been doing without sound for weeks now.
I never realized how much I rely on audio for certain cues, like someone warping onto grid, or weapons cycling. And combat just isn’t as much fun without the brrrrrrrrt of my (t)rusty autocannons.
@Wadiest_Yong is right — sometimes, when zooming in or out, or rotating the view, I do hear those missing sounds for a cycle, almost as if they are being generated correctly but the client confines them to the wrong locations…
Cleaning cache & settings, redownloading & -installing, all has been tried on my end.
While this is not a gamebreaker and I get that the affected operating systems are not a top priority, a little progress update from CCP every now and then would really, really help keep frustrations in check…
In the meantime I guess I’ll have to get my fix by freeing up some space for EVE on my Win10 partition…
trying to spread the word.
I run Win7, this worked for me. Completely.
I just installed the game again a few days ago, the only sound i am missing the the music.
But will try the work-around from CCP, i just find it very odd that you have to use several year old windows, to hear the different sounds ingame…
Forgot to add, running win10 and it does not help change compatibility.
thx a lot! it work for me!
Worked for me too.
Windows 7
It works - thank you!!!
I use Windows 7, I put only the launcher executable on win 7 compatibilty and got my sounds back, including music and everything!
The game does seem to suffer in performance quite a bit though, I’m going to do some more testing tomorrow. Thanks again for posting!
Agreed, I noticed the slow down immediately, typically my CPU usage for a single eve client on max settings is ~10% +2-5%, yesterday after doing this it was near 20-25% on average. Quite a performance hit, but for the meantime, I’d rather have the sound so…
I wish I could say the same. It’s great to have the sounds back, but my game now borders on being unplayable. First undocking after login takes over 1 minute to complete, and is not even registered properly in-game (i.e. there is no log message saying “undocking from station X to solar system Y”). Overall the game is really slow and choppy, especially when warping in on gates and stations.
I tried putting the main executable on Win7-compatibilty mode as well (along with the launcher), but that doesn’t make any difference.
I’m going back to my smooth game with no sound.
UPDATE: I was expecting no sound, but get this - I turned off the Win7 compatibility mode, my game is running smoothly again … and the sound is still working properly! I am confused but happy enough.
Hi all
A patch was deployed yesterday that should have fixed the sound issues.
If you’re still having any issues, it’s likely unrelated to this defect. Please create a ticket so we can take a closer look.
Many thanks
Thanks so much for the fixed sound. It seems to me perhaps, but after that, Eve began to slow down more. I do not have a top-end computer, but nevertheless I didn’t have any drawbacks on medium characteristics, but immediately when I enter the gate or when approaching from a warp to some place, the FPS drops.
I’d be curious to know if you get the same issue with the sound disabled?
I’m not aware of anything new in the fix which would cause a drop in performance, but sound in general is a bit expensive.
Hello
Thx for fixing the sound
Same for me: it is much slower since sound is ok again
I will try without sounds as suggested
Is it a way to decrease the sound quality instead of putting it off completely?
Same for me. Massive drop in performance/frame rates since sound fix. I checked compatibility settings, computer sound settings, and other relevant settings but could not detect anything on my end that would affect the performance in that way. Never had any issues with performance prior to the 26 May Invasion patch, nor did I have any issues in the period after the patch except of course the audio blackout.
I tried to put off sounds.
Same slows
Hi Guys,
I have Win 10 and have no music at all. I just started playing recently, looked everywhere for a fix.
I can hear the UI and world sounds (not all), but no music at all.
Is there a fix for Win 10 users too?
Thanks for the feedback, I’ll get some internal tests run and see if we can replicate the performance drop.
For those that have replied above: How does the performance drop show? Is it a loss of FPS or something else?
Could you confirm if the drop happens if you disable audio in the client (and restart it)? This would really help us identify where the issue may be happening.
Hi
We have found a defect where new installs fail to have music working correctly. A fix is in the works.
Once deployed, you may need to verify your cache from within the launcher.
Firstly, the loading of the game itself became longer, the exit from the dock itself became long. At the time of approaching the object (gate, lighthouse of fractional wars), at the exit from the gate. That is, in those moments when the game needs to load more sounds than when you are in the warp, the FPS drops sharply to 5-20. I can also confirm that before the May update there were no such problems.
Hi
It is that the game have some « waves » of slowing down. Then goes normally, then slow again. And again and again
Something like that.
It can be fixed for a few seconds if i look somewhere else with the camera. But then slow again.
If i put graphics less higher it is better but still not fluid.
Thx for ur messages
