It is so confusing to see EVE Online categorized as a ‘harder than usual’ game to play and read so many people not get what it is that is being asked here.
For anyone who is contesting why this is needed, reset all the UI prompts for entering low sec, trig space, edencom space, undocking with offline modules, clone swapping and automatic jump bridge payment.
Yikes, if there was an option for ‘when I swap ships do not tell me there is a session timer, just queue the action for when it goes away’ I hate to think there would be a single person contesting this would be a bad idea.
There would be no prompt that explains you drop your fleet and your cloak when you want to log off.
Currently these requirements are explained, but with this suggestion to automatically drop those things we will get questions from people who wonder why they got caught and why their cloak dropped when they ‘only tried to log off’.
Maybe there should be a prompt added:
Do you wish to drop fleet, decycle modules and wait for safe log off to start?
To stop the game telling them what needs to be done instead of just doing it.
I mean, if you jumped into Jita, the grid loads and you want to dock at a station, what does the game do?
Does it tell you “You cannot do that because you are still cloaked from the jump!”?
So you decloak.
Does it tell you then “You cannot warp because you are not aligned towards your target location!”?
So you align.
Does it tell you then “You cannot warp because your speed isn’t sufficient to enter warp!”?
So you accelerate and then need to click warp again.
Does it tell you then “You cannot dock because you are still in warp!”?
Once you land and you happen to land out of dockrange, does it tell you “You cannot dock because you need to be within docking range!”?
So you need again to approach the station manually and click “dock” again?
No. What happens is:
You click “dock” and the game does:
break your cloak
align to the station
accelerate to warpspeed
enters warp
drops out of warp and checks if it is in docking range
if not, break the after-warp invul and align to the station again
accelerate to max speed
dock once in rage
Uhh. What a “AUTOMATION”.
Same if you are 12 km from a wreck or a containter. Click “open” and instead of doing nothing and saying “you cant open blabla because you are too far away” your ships AUTOMATICALLY aligns towards the container and once in range, opens it. Evil black magic…
Nothing else is asked for the Safe Logoff. If there are any circumstances preventing safe logoff the game simply solves them and THEN (not a second earlier!) begins the logoff timer.
If you are still in a fleet, the game should leave the fleet. If you have modules running, the game should decycle them (and wait until they are fully turned off!). If you are still aligned, the game breaks this alignment. If you are still under cloak or any other invulnerability timer, the game either breaks them or let them wear off until the logout timer begins.
There is absolutely no intention to “shorten any timers” or “override things to be more safe” or “avoid combat”.
Nothing of what is asked isn’t already in the game in other scenarios. The OP simply don’t want to be bothererd with “I cannot do this!!!”. Just do it and if preparation steps are nessessary to get to the result the player ordered, for gods sake take them.
Could you imagine if every time a ganker fired their weapon on red saftety there was a dialog prompt to ask ‘are you sure you want to do this’ and gankers were told anything other than having to click it each time was gasp asking for AUTOMATION?
Man, i really get the impression you try to troll. Because if you don’t, I seriously have to assume worse…
FC “wants” absolutely nothing, I really would have you link an official source for that claim. You can go safe-log in the middle of a fleet battle if you want, with 200 opponents left and right. The game only does a couple of status checks: Fleet? Modules? Alignment? Invultimers? Combat Timers? And it wants those things to be gone before the safe logoff begins. Where exactly you are absolutely doesn’t matter. You also can still give commands, for example using the Dscan while the timer is already counting.
What the OP requests would not save a single second. You would still have to “wait out” all those things. It “bypasses” absolutely nothing. It just saves some manual clicks after getting annoying messages. It is absolutely the same like the examples I have been given (warping, jumping, docking, looting).
wanna shoot somebody ?? Screw automation and click per shot every single launcher individually, because damn automation. Jump gate cloaked??? No f…in way— decloak, approach manually and then click jump again please!!! XDD
I for one never have issue with a log off timer. It only takes 30 seconds. I only do this when mining in systems that don’t have stations available. However I think you must be talking about the 15 minute combat timers. Those prevent people from yanking the router from the wall plug and leaving combat too early.
Sometimes I get bothered by popups too. The solution in most cases, would be to have confirmation settings ( opt out ) on all popups. I suggest you attempt to calmly explain your position in the thread, assuming any developer actually reads here. I assume it is an area to rant about things outside our control and Fenris uses as a file nine bin.
That is the kind of answer that precipitated the infinite gun. There is a fair amount of daylight between ‘by design’ and ‘as intended’ especially in EVE online.
Not even counting that most "GM"s have very very limited knowledge about actual game mechanics (and even less about dev’s intentions… which are often pure speculation anyway). I had issues in the past where I had contact to 3 different GMs, getting 3 different answers and 2 of them revealed on first glance they didn’t even know how the stuff I was talking about works.
