Suggestion: Remove Highsec from EVE Online

The term “high security” had never meant as a safe space. I dont see an issue with the term. People come up with their own definitions to basically make themselves feel good if they think it means they are safe from pvp until a gank, or bait happens and they are shot by another player.

As been mentioned multiple times, the amount of NPCs that attack other players on behalf of the empire determine how “safe” each part of space is. CONCORD has never been defined as a mechanic to keep players safe, they are to punish those who do wrong, thats why they arent present in losec.

Before you request to remove “High Security”

have you looked at current character saturations?

I dont think the amount of people in this game will be the same, if this Ever happened.

So why speculate.

this is not the place for your rambling about my person, thank you very much.

I am simply trying to understand your ideas whithin my personal understanding of the situation.

The word hisec not the space itself

I believe that the term “highsec” implies a certain level of safety, which builts an unrealistic expectation. When that expectation turns out to not be true, emotional outbursts ensue, which does not make the community an enjoyable and productive environment.

Oh, so all you want to do is have a name change?

I would rather CCP work on something more productive.

Also with CCP’s track record. You may not like what you wish for.

Not me, thats what OP wants lol

this is not a pleas to CCP. This is a suggestion to the eve community that we all work to build and maintain.

ahh, yea.

Well good luck with that

Thats on the player to learn what each definition means. And you can use eve uni for that

Concord makes it easy to survive if you know what you’re doing. Tanking your ships, maximizing defensive skills, etc… and just coming up with ways to escape or avoid a dangerous situation allows you to survive, but it is not a 100% safety measure.

“Perfectly safe” does not apply. I drive to work every day and I drive defensively, but I don’t feel perfectly safe. The man or woman in the car next to me could do something stupid and cause me to crash and die at any moment. So no- no one is perfectly safe on the road and the same applies to High Sec.

You seem to think that this game is black or white.

I don’t know why, but you do. It seems like all you want to do is win an argument. I said that I feel safe and to you, that absolutely must mean that I’m 100% perfectly safe even though that is NOT what I said.

Life isn’t black or white. I don’t know why you insist that it is.

Is it not the responsibility of a mature community to assist with defining situations for individuals coming into this community? I do not believe it is up to 1 corporation or alliance to do that.

I have never stated this. Please keep your specualtions about my person to yourself, or perhaps message me in-game to discuss that.

What I am suggesting for this wonderful community is to reshape our language just slightly, so that we are not unintentionally building expectations that are not realistic in terms of how this game works or is designed.

I do not seek any arguments, I am open to debate so that we can fully flush out the concepts. At the very least, this could be something that newer players are directed to so that they can also come to the same understanding that veteran players have.

Then why did you accuse me of saying that I felt perfectly safe?

I’ve lost quite a few ships in High Sec. Not to ganks, but to other dangers.

I do feel that certain structures are safe in highsec, like unconquerable NPC stations.

In wormholes your structures can be shot (or you get lost if your scan probes get killed or you forget them and can only exit using the pod express). In lowsec it depends what structure it is. Some can be shot, some are conquerable, some are not.

So in addition to that, highsec provides retaliation features as you describe it. And you have more intel than in a wormhole for example.

Also in highsec i don’t need to care for warp bubbles, warp scamblers, carrier and titan hot drops and the like.

So yes, i feel highsec is safer. Also the name is right for me. It is not called Absolute or Total Security space after all. You could name it “Safer Sec” if you wished, but that sounds stupid to me, so i’d like to stick with highsec.

Empire Space is a whole lot of different can of worms. For some it even only includes Amarr Empire space, high and low, since that would be the only Empire in EVE - others are a federation, a republic and a state.

Sir, i did not accuse you of anything. Please refrain from thinking this is an attack back and forth situation. I am simply trying to understand and fully flush out terminology and concepts. I believe an open debate about this subject at the very least, could be a point that newer people can be pointed to so that they can also come to the same understanding as veteran players.

I am doing this with love and positivity towards this community!

I agree, it is time for Highsec to go. Too many bots and AFK miners hide in Highsec, ruining the game for everyone else. Everyone who agrees is invited to my channel: Why Was I Ganked? where you will find a like minded community dedicated to the permanent removal of Highsec.

But then we’d just all camp the new arrivals all day. The ones joining the game in Corvettes fresh out of the tutorial with zero skill points.

lowsec counts as empire space too btw

I could very well be wrong, but isn’t there some sort of mechanic that prohibis ganking or combat in “starter” systems?
