Suicide ganking and current state of the game

I have played in and out from 2006 and lately have gotten the ich again. having been away from the game i dont know its current state in particular about some mechanics. So I ask for information or resources to bring me up to speed.

1- Suicide ganking: Im not particularly risk averse, but the state of ganking combined with multiboxing was ridiculous in 2022 or so with catalists and such. Being wormholer forced me to use the routes avalilable so it was the reason i quit last time as was not possible to do simple traveling in expensive ships.

2- Botting: Some key mechanics of eve make botting a unavoidable reality. I remember the glorious blackout and how it decimated bots, but also how the nullseccers failed to grow some balls and failed to adapt. Did CCP do something about the mechanics that allow them?. Anomalies and such. Also, the system bounty thing. Some comprehensive resource would be appreciated.

3- Whats going on in low sec, i know that there was some change in minerals or something, and there are things i low that make it worth to live there, but i dont really know what, again some reference to a guide of current state would be appreciated.

4- 3Āŗ party Programs to be used, for mapping, fitting and such, which are the must haves?

5- Did CCP do some recap of the changes sin 2020 and so on?

Jrasias de antebrazo.

If you wanted to know about where the game is generally, then why did you put ā€œsuicide gankingā€ in the title.

This will turn into yet another toxicity fest.

its my main concern. I used to need to travel 5-10 jumps in marauder from a wormhole to a trade hub, and suicide ganking made it imposible. I know that there have been changes, but not sure what they are about.

Sorry, i may not be aware of whats going on latetly.

Game’s in a good state, lowsec is fine.

There have been changes, but mostly for the better.

I’d recommend finding a corp/alliance which suits you and diving back in. You’ll soon pick it back up.

Suicide ganking is still fun, and you can do it with mates, you don’t need to multibox.

Oh yeah you wanted resources.

still probably the best

Im not a pvper, or a ganker. I do fully support it though because in the long run as ships are blowing up, that means i have an isk train.

From my very small perpective, the ganking hasnt changed much since 2022. There are still folks running around with many cat alts blowing ships up on a regular basis. That will never change.

If youre quitting because you think ganking is too severe then you may never enjoy this game again. In the last few months, theres been a plethora of threads about this. The biggest part of all those discussions are the way to keep from getting ganked. I wont explain those to you, im pretty certain you already know what those safeguards are. Use them and use them wisely.

Im pretty sure he was asking about the status of it from the other side…or at least it sounded that way through typed discussion.

Hey, thank you for the real answer.

My gameplay involves marauders, and they where kill on sight for the guys multi boxing 20 catalysts, even with empty cargo. This made every stop in high sec a tedious multi day ferrying affair or just suicidal. In two words, not worth.

I think they made suicide ganking not available for alfa clones, and I hoped that amounted to something.

I don’t think is neither a good mechanic or that is necessary for the game at all, As there is no limit to ships you can have in inventory. It should have been changed a decade ago to a proper mechanic the needed destruction to happen, but that is a discussion for another time and place.

having been high sec pirate myself (not ganking, proper piracy). I know that there are no workarounds, a remote sensor booster tackler can catch everything bigger than a shuttle, so there is no point

Paranoia.

I fly Marauders in HS in all four Empires for YEARS. Blitzing L4 Missions and running the Epic Arcs every 3 months. I wasn’t ganked a single time.

This fearmongering is hilarious.

I’m sorry that happened to you.

lucky you I guess.

If something works continuously it isn’t luck.

Because it’s obviously repeatable.

On the other hand, if someone fails often where others succeed, it’s most likely a personal problem with either mindset or skill.

Just stay gone. That’s all these nitwits are going to encourage you to do, just like they run off everyone else. There’s a reason the pop continues to drop. Save your money and your time.

Have you tried refitting the Marauder to a cheap max buffer fit for travel? And bring the real fit along in another ship like a BR?

How did that go, did it get ganked?

I don’t play much in HS and haven’t moved Marauders there, but that’s what I would try.

Now if gankers consistently kill your T2-fit buffer Marauder for no payout I would agree with you that ganking is a threat and that another approach is needed.

However it reads like ā€œI have tried nothing and I’m all out of ideasā€.

I did the math, the catalyst still would have done the job. Its not just the marauder, your basic run of the mill C5 marauder had a repairer/booster that usually cost 1B alone. (no idea now)

Plus there are reason why this is impractical. I did many roles in the game, but last time i played I enjoyed running escalations on nullsec, true solo, without stantings. Get 50 filaments, and hop from null to null for a full month, that involved cargos full of ammo and several fits on the belly, yet another fit was very inconvenient.

I had no problems doing up to 40 jumps of null scoutless for a escalation, but 10 jumps of high… nah.

Have you considered transporting the 1B fit in a separate ship instead of in the slow battleship?

Refit the Marauder with a cheap T2 buffer fit, make it an unattractive target. Haul the Marauder’s expensive active fit in a different ship.

I did,

give some mind to the amount of hassle it takes to go back and forth carrying fits, its not worth the hassle. Go fetch the blockade runner 3 regions away, go to the system you have the marauder in, go to the hub and back 2-3 times, etc. it took a best part day for say 10 highsec jumps. And they may still go for the blockade runner.

Plus sometimes you just need to dock on the hub to test things.

its not that its not possible, its just very time consuming for a mechanic very ridiculously bad, and they still would get you.

Go back and watch the Meta show. Big Red Boat with the Super Umbrella. They were doing fine, too fine, hence why CCP implemented the changes limiting what ships could be used to light a cyno.

Everyone else did adapt, well, no, they did exactly what one did during a high security war. They docked up, did not log in, and player something else until the war was over.

The way to win, was to not play the game. It is very effective, even CCP posted about the number of people cancelling their subs ā€˜en mass’ with some highly suspicious it was one of the reasons for shorter term subscription prices to increase while 12 month/24month subscriptions stayed the same.

Too repeatable, which is the problem.

DPS scales with protagonists, EHP/tank does not.
