Not at all, the new player gaines 5x his old income and looses half of it to gangs still a net gain. Except that new player will now have friends to come help him when he gets ganged and maybe gets to enjoy pvp in the process.
In high sec you cant help someone getting ganged it happens way to fast.
I wish Permaband was still a thing. They made some great songs and imagine how many new songs you could make nowadays. I’d bet $20 they’d have a quality song about the triglavians screwing people over, lol.
I have literally never whined about a nerf, to ganking or otherwise. Newsflash: I don’t gank. You didn’t even bother looking at my posting history before accusing me of being a whiner or a ganker.
The whole more ships are lost in hi sec thing is a red herring, I mean you do understand that the gankers ships are in that number? I have been attacked in Odin recently, mostly because I was a lazy ***** and didn’t want to run more than one trip in my orca, now I managed to survive 17 ships trying to kill me, but they didn’t, so that was 17 ships destroyed in hi sec, all gankers.
It’s funny, I’ve never once been ganked in high sec - very possibly due to an early experience with being wardecced into oblivion and losing everything I owned. But it’s not difficult to do - set known gankers to terrible standings. Keep an eye on local for spikes. Don’t autopilot blingy ships or freighters. These are all solid lessons to learn about how game mechanics in Eve work.
Oddly enough, when I moved to null sec, I never lost a capital (or indeed any ship) to roamers without knowing I was fighting as I’d learned the lessons in high sec on paying attention to local, so it took me next to no time to adjust to the more lawless areas of space.
As callous as it sounds from an experienced player to say to a newer one HTFU, in many cases this truly is the best approach - there are simple things you can do to avoid getting ganked, and they will stand you in good stead for thewhole of your Eve game time.
Oh, and to the Hulk guy: nah, they don’t need EHP buff. Just keep some catalysts in the Orca and swap em out when the gankers land. Much funnier.
I understand that the owners of the game are interested in destroying ships, but for sure a compromise can be found regarding suicide. Some players bring money to the game, while others kill them and buy a subscription for the game currency.
Here they write: “Ganking is a highsec activity, and something you should be considering, monitoring, and fitting against wherever possible. Highsec doesnt mean safe, it means safer.”
All right.
However, when leaving the abyss, it is impossible to resist the gank, the chances are almost zero.
It seems like it would be wise to give temporary immunity to attack when leaving the abyss (not like now, when only before the first movement). For other cases, leave everything as it is, as in other cases you can resist a suicide gang.
Abou CONCORD.
Come to think of it, this is the top pirate faction in the galaxy. They hold many sectors. They are killing competitors. And they accept bribes from rivals in the form of tags).
There are many, many highsec systems where the risk of being ganked is almost zero; and you’ll be
extremely unlucky to ever run into a problem.
The new order is everywhere.
The reward is high. The risk should be commensurate with that.
The risk comes from the mechanics of the abyss. Especially after a recent update. The slightest mistake leads to the loss of the ship and all implants.
I’ve lost enough ships in the abyss for various reasons and that’s okay.
But suicide gang is overkill.
Of recent failures - since there is no time to farm many ISK, I bought plexes on the site, sold them (for ISK) and bought a fit for the fourth abyss (skills allow).
The second flight ended with a suicid-gang. Removed the game even though omega status for another two years. Of course, the game has something to do besides the abyss, however, the impression is that the situation with suicide is not balanced.
And I also realized that there is no point in buying plexes for real money on the site, only omega status and pilot training programs.
Perhaps this game is not intended for solo players at all. But be that as it may, IMHO t, the situation with suicide is out of balance.
Speaking of solo play, I was referring to the gameplay without joining corporations and alliances. When interaction with other players is situational. And also indirectly - through participation in the economy (mining, transportation, production, including to order for others).
But my main thought was about the abyss. And this is 90% solo content.
P.S. For me - one window of the game more than enough (I installed Eve back, only I do not fly into the abyss > 2).
It’s a non-issue. Every day on Zkill there are what? Maybe 5 or so abyss runner ganks, out of the hundreds or thousands of abyssal instances that get ran every single day…

ZK does not provide such statistics. According to the result, it is impossible to unequivocally determine whether to kill a character at the exit from the abyss or not. Suicide gankers regularly hunt abyss runners (tier > 3)
