There is no way to realistically win against a catalyst swarm if they use N+1 to the fullest extent of its power. By the very nature of the gank, they are already planning to die. They only need to survive in large enough numbers to kill their target before CONCORD arrives.
The only ways to “win”? Either have enough brick fit jamming ships to forcibly pull away aggro, or enough remote reps that they fail their DPS check against the CONCORD timer.
Most ganks against high value hulls are done not for the potential loot, which is just a side bonus, but instead for the ego points of having a 1b+ isk killmail.
Ah yes, I do remember that being an issue that was talked about. Though I feel like an exception could be carved for that in a better way that the current “all limited engagement timers” format.
No, this is just and excuse why to fly your hauler solo without any support and then cry about being ganked.
And btw. This change was not made in gankers’ favour. We also can’t heal our looter from antigankers’ attacks. This change was asked for by antigankers and carebears because suspect baiters and wardeccers heavily abused it by bringing neutral logistic ships that were not targettable by citadel. Because if you don’t know it, citadel in highsec can only target war targets, not suspects, not criminals. So they brought one Vindicator (at that time because Leshaks didn’t exist) and three Exequrors that gave it armor and cap. They were suspect yes, but carebears always play solo, they don’t have friends who would help them defend so they were unable to do anything. Possibly even more overpowered strategy was the one of Jita duel players who baited someone into duel (or suspec bait) and when it was looking like they could lose they undocked 5 hulltank Nestors who were healing him. This is why the out-of-fight support was promoted to criminal activity.
In fact there hasn’t been any change being done in our favor at all, ever. If there was something that benefited us, latest examples are Exequror Navy Issue buff and Cenotaph, then it was never meant to buff gankers and was simply a result of badly thought of general buff or unbalanced new ship in case of ceno. And it was always nerfed shorthly after gankers started (ab)using it for ganking.
On the contrary, antigankers and carebears aŕe those that CPP caters hardest. Itt is thanks to their constant crying on reddit and forums in thread like this. So yeah cry more carebear because it works! Eventually the ganking will be removed and the game dies following the EVE Echoes fate. I look forward to that.
Btw last year nerfs to ganking:
smartbomb rework (less damage, more PGU needed, more skills needed)
resistance changes buff (indirect nerf to ganking since all ships running hardernest are now tankier and it also allows high tier abyss to be completed with utterly ■■■■ fits barely worth 1b)
Cenotaph nerf (weapon platform nerf+skills)
station fighters decloak nerf
crimson harvest 90% loot removal in highsec
and I probably forgot some.
There has been no buff. And if we go further to history:
Hey Frosty, since you still don’t seem to get it, I’ll make this clear for you.
You are insinuating that Aiko should stop ganking, because it would besmirch the memory of the friend she lost.
Further, you go on and want to argue game mechanics of all things. Even when you were clearly told to shut the hell up, you just continue to babble on about the impact of ganking, and how she shouldn’t complain about what you are doing, arguing that it’s actually even her fault that you do, because she is a ganker, and that’s as bad as losing a friend forever. Maybe even worse.
I cannot even begin to describe, just how insidious and disgusting this is. You are dragging in the loss of a close friend, and you’re using that as a lever to berate and gaslight her because she enjoys a certain playstyle in EVE Online. It’s like you don’t even know just how outlandish you sound when you say stuff like this. You’re making your shitty university lecture on ganking more important, than the genuine human tragedy that has happened.
It should terrify you deeply, that it takes me to spell this out for you. I think you should take this as a wake-up call to do some soul searching, maybe try out some therapy. And perhaps also stop reaching for the bottle.
Ganking is easy to avoid. The fact that you are still asking for CCP to make ganking harder means that you’re not even trying. Message me in game and I’ll teach you how to play. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with ganking- just with your refusal to learn how to protect your ships. I’ve never lost a mining ship and I’ve mined right next to Aiko while she was blowing up Hulks.
Or just continue to buy mining permits. I’ll sell you one for 500 million ISK good for one year. I’ve been cleared by Aiko to sell valid permits.
Aiko, I once told you that my Skiff had once been attacked by gankers and you asked me why you didn’t see any kills on my end as proof of the ganking attempt- Well, I didn’t know anything about kill mails or how to look them up, let alone report them.
Well, having finally learned how to do that- it turns out I did get a kill that day (with some help from Concord)! I had tried to set my drones against one of them as they came in, but with as quickly as the attack was over (and it being my first time in PvP), I didn’t follow what all was going on.
You were not present in this attempt. I hadn’t yet been graced with your presence.
See, @Chad_Frostpacker? It’s not hard to stand up to Gankers. You just have to stop being prey.
To change one’s mind about what ganking does to others can very much push people out of the game resulting in lost of friends.
Of course it is not the same as a person knowing something out outside of the game to pass. Though there is a connection between having a friend inside a corporation up and quit logging in due to the level of unfairness of Eve Online and its nature of toxicity that had been accepted as normal gameplay.
How disgusting would you be to do this to someone you don’t consider a friend inside of your system that you despise just because they play this game differently and you then get a bunch of your friends to undock to attack such pilot then steal from them.
Soul searching is optional, it is very easy to not want change in Highsec and any
bystander can observe were the real toxicity comes from.
It’s not toxic to PvP in a PvP game. It is toxic to do what you’re doing which is to whine, cry, and demand to be left alone. That’s toxic.
Why won’t you learn how to defend yourself? Don’t you have friends who will teach you? Get proper fits, train proper skills, develop proper tactics, or just accept that we will all destroy you every chance we get (yes even me) because you’re playing this game and demanding that we all play YOUR WAY.
At the end of the day, it is who continues to find value even if they have nothing better to do other than whine about the unfairness of being a Miner in Highsec.
Why should I need to defend myself if I am in Highsec?
Punishment for ganking is already incorporated by CONCORD.
Unholy space fires, what has this thread degenerated into while I was irl ratting? Okay, full stop, it’s not okay to use the loss of a friend or family member as a weapon to attack someone with. Ever. Please get mental help. I might not be a fan of the current state of suicide ganking, but this kind of behavior is inexcusable.
Being fixated on the delivery is something I must learn from.
The message how much it burns bridges still stands and the fact that we still have a sandbox that is not friendly for the non- hardcore gamer is just another example of just how toxic it gets.
