Suicide ganking is way too low risk, change my mind

Looks like I got yourself evidence

That’s an example of anecdotal evidence.

Also I don’t see any losses to CONCORD. Those guys who killed you may sometimes die to CONCORD but many of their deaths were not ganking related.

Was it even a gank? Or did you go suspect?

No, the hauler came through the gate and there was already a group of 10 cruisers there. Three of them immediately started attacking. The others stayed away. I’ve noticed what you’re saying lately too. I haven’t seen CONCORD appear in killmails lately.

It’s a good example of how things are going right now. Anything that can be ganked FAST, gets ganked. I can easily imagine that 90% of the people writing here disagree, because it relates to their activities. I don’t think high ganking is PVP and therefore detracts from the game.

Ah, looks like those guys were just bored then that nothing worthwhile was coming through, so a couple of them attacked you just because you were there and had not noticed their group yet.

High sec ganking is done by players against players, so it is by definition player versus player content. In that sense it’s not unlike how my group would also kill any non-allied hauler we came across while we were in space doing something else. If we get that chance.

The only difference is that these pirates do so in high security space in cheap ships because they’re guaranteed to lose those ships.

It’s still PvP.

Luckily the ship you lost is spare change and was empty so you laughed at their ISK-negative attack, bought a new one and continued your day, right?

Pretty good chance this survives with a cloak and a 50mn.

It’s as much of a content as piss in a soup…. and it’s also fun for the one who peed in it. But it can’t be defined as quality content or something that will attract more people to the restaurant, or even keep the existing customers.

The only evidence I see is a ship that was an easy gank because you were greedy with those cargo expanders ( which actually reduce your EHP ) and don’t know how to fit shield tank. Why fit three amplifiers when two multi-spectrum hardeners do better all round ? With a few tweaks, and reducing your cargo from 15k to 10.5k….I created a 35K EHP version, as opposed to your 16K EHP version.

Knowing how to fit your ship properly is 9/10 of avoiding a gank.

To stick with that incredibly strange and smelly analogy you just made, I started playing EVE especially because people piss in the soup here.

It attracted me, it was exactly the kind of gameplay I was looking for and I bet it attracted many more of the current EVE players who looked for a game with full loot PvP everywhere.

Of course there also are players who found EVE who did not look for a full loot PvP game, but to be honest unless they adapted and can manage these risks now, I think they found the wrong game if they dislike one of the core concepts of this game and are still complaining about it while consuming what is served.

We like ā€˜piss in soup’.

Let people who want their ā€˜soup’ flavourless find another game.

Exactly my sentiment too. There’s a sort who join EVE with a sort of Dirty Harry ā€˜ make my day…punk ā€˜ stance, and they are the ones EVE is actually for. Whilst some others have wandered in from Farmville and cannot understand why Dirty Harry is blowing up their shiny new space tractor.

Something we agree on…

That’s the problem. Most of the people who play this game either tolerate it or enjoy it. That’s why we have 30.000 players on a Saturday evening, and not 70.000 or 100.000. That’s why most of the highsec is a desolate wasteland and trade hubs are starved of items.

Ganking is ZERO risk.

Pretty much how I feel about hotdropping really. I personally have been dropped on by 15 Redeemers. The ship I was in? A Dominix. There really is no target too small for a bored dropper.

I, barely, got away with my MJD after killing the tackler, but they got away too since they simply warped off and cloaked up until their jump timer ran out.

Honestly feels like one sided soup pissing ā€œcontentā€.

When I get bored, I drop on Ventures.

There’s a lot of nonsense going on again, but the point remains that ganking is too easy and not punished enough. It’s absolutely a joke that the ganker only gets away with a CONCORD standing loss. Which can easily be paid off by paying some TAGs. ARC missions can only be done twice a year. You should see the faction standing loss you get for shooting someone in low sec, and I haven’t even mentioned POD killing yet. To repair a faction standing, you need to: A. Have a 5.0 Standing for the same corporation the ARC agent is affiliated with; B. Complete 16 missions before you get a storyline; C. Be Sister of Eve ARC. I think the whole CONCORD security system has been outdated for years; that it can only be dealt with by a FACTION standing hit. CONCORD could easily have been replaced by FACTION police. This has its advantages over gankers, but also for the gameplay as a whole.

That’s not the point at all. There really wouldn’t be any less ganking if I’d fitted that thing better.

I don’t believe that

it is definitely not without risk, but has too little consequence and can be repaired far too simply

What do you think an appropriate punishment is? If someone ganks a Venture, do you think 35 years in prison is sufficient, or should it be mandatory life? How do you think we can make it harder? Should CONCORD response time be decreased to 1 second, and Venture ehp be multiplied by one million - would that be sufficient?

Exaggerating is also a profession.

You’re the expert in ganking. You also know that the punishment for ganking is far too low. I have an alt who shot a few PODs in low sec, meaning my alt can’t get into Amarr high sec space without being shot by the faction police. It will take weeks to recover from that faction standing loss. Therefore, the punishments should be consistent and assessed based on the system where the crime occurred.
