Suicide ganking is way too low risk, change my mind

You know what they are talking about. PvE combat is so different from PvP that it’s like playing an entirely seperate game.

Modules that are absolutely mandatory for PvP (Ex. Scram+web or neuts/nos), are utterly useless in PvE. Sacrificing two mid slots for tackle would result in a massive loss of application vs rats. Be it tracking cruisers at 15~20km, or reaching out to battleships at 45~50km.

I don’t really like the word “punishment,” but I would think it’s fair if gankers had to perform some kind of “social labor” to repair their standing. Think of an ARC mission twice a year.

If it were up to me, ganking in high sec wouldn’t be allowed. This would automatically cause gankers to move to places where ganking is possible. The whole point is that high sec ganking isn’t fair.

What could be more fair than highsec ganking? You lose your ship, they lose theirs. It’s perfectly balanced.

I’d say read the post again. You have no idea what it’s about.

nonsense

As example

Nothing fair about destroying freighters in high sec.

Your guy anti-tanked his freighter and then put 16b worth of stuff in it. The gankers showed up, he died, they died. Fair. The gankers got some loot, he got a valuable lesson. Fair.

Seriously, you couldn’t have chosen a worse example. To begin with, don’t fly around with that much value in something with that little EHP. Second, if you hear the little cargo scan chime, it means you’ve been cargo-scanned and gankers may be waiting up ahead. You may wish to dock up for the day. Third, freighters should be accompanied by two web alts at all times.

Even this atrocity of a fit+cargo would have been perfectly safe if the player had simply played well and done some research on how to haul stuff before actually doing so.

Don’t take any of this reply as me being harsh to that player. He may not be a great freighter pilot, but unlike you he at least isn’t in the forum whining about it.

yeah that sums up your position perfectly. No arguments, just mimimi.

If you can’t stand being attacked in a game that explicitly allows and encourages open combat just go play something else.

Dude, can’t say anything smarter? Also your examples are so dumb. Let me explain, if it would not help, then this is a clinic case and go back doing PI in WH.

Lets imagine if ship has for example 400K EHP. CONCORD response depends on system and pullings… but lets take it as 15 seconds. Ganker has 750DPS which is not more than 11250. Which means 400k/11250 is a 36 Catalyst. But in reality it will be more as they do not have instant lock and will be delay with F1. When you fit your ship to have half of EHP (maybe EVE mechanics should blow up you on undock because this is not a ship but cargo wrapped into paper with POD sitting on top of it) it gives you 200k EHP, which leads to 18 Catalysts. But if your brain will do the math, you would try to double your tank to 800k EHP, to force 72 Catalysts to be wasted. Do you see the difference between 18 and 72?

Those could be more DPS ships, but they would cost muuuuch more… and think where you are flying… is it too complex?

And to think for so many years, i flew around in this game with poor fits that would have easily been popped by just a couple gankers. Ingame events such as Hulkagedon for example, were the points in my eve career that i really started meticulously fitting ships for ganks instead of greed.

Besides losing ships for other dumb reasons, ive yet to actually be ganked by a player or group of players. Im either being seen as a ship not worth the effort or just really lucky over the years.

The art of fitting any ship and making it gank proof isnt tough to do at all.

I’ve said it many times- faction freighters were built to fail. They were designed to be destroyed. Faction freighters are bad. Use the Avalanche, Orca, or Bowhead. If you’re using any other freighter in High Sec, you’re doing it wrong. The Avalance and Bowhead can be tanked to 800,000 EHP. The Orca can reach 1,000,000.

Everything in EVE was designed to be destroyed. Only this topic is about how and where.

I think this is a worthless addition that has nothing to do with this topic.

If I would care what baby asked or not ;). It was explained and you swallowed it. You liked the taste, other wise you would not asked for topping.

There is nothing wrong with players loading their freighters with 16 billion of loot. It is absurd that in 2026 you cannot fly your ship through high sec on autopilot. To do 30 jumps with such a boxy ship, you have to sit in front of your computer for an hour and use a scout to see if the road is clear. CCP would be better off removing the entire autopilot system. Which is actually an idiotic system anyway, because it is heavily in favor of gankers (12km before the gate).

You will continue to lose ships and valuable assets if you keep following this procedure. You will continue to post here and holler at us about how everything about it is unfair or idiotic.

Nobody forced you to push the A button. You know what it is, you know what can happen, you know youre better off being at the helm while traveling. Its really that simple.

And 16 billion? Id be a nervous wreak if i had that many assets in a freighter. You almost purposely planned your own demise for doing that. Heck, if youre going to continue to throw items away like that, send them my way. I know how to properly transport items anywhere.

I agree! This behavior should be encouraged. Everyone is WAY too cautious these days.

100b isk per freighter is the optimal.

Some might feel that is a little bit risky, but can you really put a price on the feeling you get when you don’t let anyone tell you what to do?

So you chose to just ignore the fact that faction freighters are trash compared to the much better options?
