Suicide ganking is way too low risk, change my mind

I have made my observations and you have made yours .

We have both drawn conclusions based on what we know or have seen. However “We are not devs” is more of an admission than statement.

It’s and admission that at least I (possibly you as well) accept that we do not have all the relevant data and that our observations come from a limited scope.

The developers are the only people who have ALL the data on this subject and only they can can provide the definitive answer.

I can’t believe I went through 150 posts in this thread to get caught-up. 15min of my life I’m definitely not getting back…

“Why has nobody contacted the Devs and asked for a definitive answer on the subject ?"

I actually have.

Some years ago I submitted a support ticket and explained exactly what I intended to do in EvE Online. I vowed to destroy the dusty old CODE. alliance and purge its leadership from the game, making it all about myself, and then I was going to use all that power and influence to destroy as many miners as possible. James 315 believed in helping new players, and he would often warp around in a Bowhead vomiting out tanky Procurers for the little guys, but I told the devs that I planed to gank, and gank, and gank. I didn’t intend to merely punish bad miners, but to extirpate them all unto oblivion. Even worse, I planned to sell mining permits, and I would use these permits to track and hunt down the very people who bought them, killing them again and again in an endless cycle of hellish retribution. Finally, I would look scornfully down upon the entire playerbase, mocking them for their foolish carebear ways and proclaiming myself their own personal apocalypse. Ever since I was a young Sumerian nymphite demon witch, I have known this was my fate and destiny, but I wanted to make sure the game devs were in full accordance and agreement with my plans for total and unconditional galactic domination. After some thought, CCP wrote me back with an official reply from the very devs themselves, “We see no issue with that. Good luck capsuleer!”

If ganking isn’t intended to be a part of the game why do the devs allow members of Safety and others like them to get away with it? Why haven’t they been banned already? Many of them have been ganking for a long time and are still playing.

Are we seriously still debating whether ganking is a legitimate form of game play? Not my particular cup of tea, but it’s allowed in high-sec - so let’s move on!

Would I like to see it replaced by something better and more interactive? Sure. I’ve got some broad ideas but filling in the finer points is always where the challenge lies.

But now you are here with the rest of the remaining “sane” people (just with respect to this topic  ). You lived through the experience of it all. There should be an achievement waiting for us remaining few.

Although i must confess, my strength is running low. If someone persistently ignores text put into the game by the developers to specifically define the circumstance of highsec space, and requests a written confirmation of the same thing again, then i guess we have done all the best we could.

I don’t get it why the text in question isn’t just taken into a petition for clarification if there be questions. Why does the thread have to run that far? Although i know why - because the content of the expected answer is not wanted to be heard.

At this point i cant take any of it seriously any longer. I think most of the trolling members here just keep that nonsense alive just for the spite of knowing that it will get under some folks skin like the plague.

The triggered folk reply and keep feeding them. Its a long going back and forth objective on every forum in existence. As long as the meat is thrown out and about, the longer the vermin stick around.

Everyone because EvE = Everyone vs Everyone (including the devs)

 :psyccp: :ccpguard:

What about a deployable similar to the mobile observatory, just this one instead of addressing cloaking it provides non-consensual PvP opportunity.

When deployed, it has a spool up timer of 5 minutes or such, after which it has an increasing chance to turn everyone on grid suspect every 10 seconds or something (but can not be deployed on a grid with a gate, station or structure and possibly some other similar limitations) up to a certain maximum % chance.

Another EVE Echoes.. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Wasn’t that the abyssal proving grounds thing?

I guess you lost ships, but it didn’t seem to be a great idea in any case.

Not really. It could be part of ‘walking in stations’. A holodeck where you can take any fitted ship you have and duke it out with another player or players. There’d be no actual ship loss…not even anything recorded.

I think the real reason some dislike PvP is that EVE gives you absolutely no opportunity for practice. Most people don’t want to ‘learn’ by getting blown up multiple times…because that is really no guarantee of learning.

This would have been a far better idea than a sterile Exordium setup that teaches people nothing. Its not too late for FC to add something like this to it.

Maybe I should apply for the CSM, as I seem to be one of the few people who look at the ordinary everyday issues that players face rather than pandering to null blocs with 50,000 slaves members.

They should imitate Elon Musk..

Well I’m sure if they gave every noob 250 billion ISK there’d be no problem

What’s more interactive than blowing someone’s ship up?

I’ve been saying since they first announced Exordium that what newbies need is a proper introduction to PvP, not an entire region about preventing them from gaining any experience with it. They can’t even duel each other at the sun, and are strongly kept from leaving Exordium to do so in Yulai by the scary message hinting that the stargate will only work once (they will want to move their worthless tech 1 frigate hulls and civilian modules out with them).

The current ”PvP tutorial” consists of flying up to a rat and stasis webbing it for one instant ”to prevent it from fleeing”, then warping back to station. It’s insulting, the player doesn’t even get to observe that a web slows an enemy down and makes them easier to hit, it’s literally just turn the module on and instantly warp back home to turn the mission in. There’s no practicing capturing a plex. There’s no advice on how to avoid a LS gatecamp. There’s no mention of what a bubble is. No mention of ewar or nos/neuts. There’s no mention of combat probes, nor of dscan. There’s no mission sending them into the proving grounds or a practice arena or anything to see how fighting a player differs from fighting a rat, in fact this is explicitly impossible.

I totally agree. Exordium is doing the complete reverse of preparing noobs for the harsh world outside. With PvP not possible, how are noobs supposed to learn to defend themselves ? And with zero threat, how are noobs supposed to learn to deal with threat ? A far better Exordium would have been one with PvP but zero actual ship loss. You’d simply get a message to the effect of ‘outside of Exordium your ship would have been lost’. The attacker would not get any ‘kill’. Noobs would learn the ropes far quicker this way !

It’s 2026 who uses the word “Noob” these days ?

“if I can’t hit new players in the face with a sledgehammer how will they know that it hurts?”

that’s the short version of your waffle
