Now that is funny, when the f1 monkey gods leave their little bubble and get a good spanking.
They should also include a reward system that incentivizes the player to input as little effort as possible as well.
There already is one, flying AFK gets you a spot on AIKO’s killboard
But it is. It’s called undocking. The act of pressing that Undock button is a universal consent to PvP. The day Eve ceases to be ‘Don’t undock what you can’t afford to lose’ will be the day they might as well rename it Farmville.
No, they can’t do that, that name’s trademarked.
But nothing is stopping CCP from putting out lots of new marketing materials inviting players to try the game’s new “cooperative features” and have some pictures of smiling, cartoony pirates with parrots on their shoulders swinging their hook arms with piles of gold in the background in their ads.
I’ve been here a while, so it wouldn’t actually be my first rodeo. For example, here’s how the game’s launcher looked like when CCP implemented EVE’s universally-loved “safety” button:
Notice anything interesting there?
You are about to undock, this is consent for PvP
Are you Sure (YES/NO)
Are you very sure (YES/NO)
Are you very very sure (YES/NO)
…BOOM
WAH WAH WAH
OK, then just for you they should rename it Poe-Ville.
( A Poe is where one essentially cannot tell the difference between extreme sarcasm and genuine sentiment )
Ah, but try undocking a totally unfitted cruiser. You will get a warning telling you it is not safe to do so. So right there, in the Eve code, is a clear statement that non-consensual PvP is intended play. There is no other reason you’d be warned.
I love the autoplay option!
I love the F1 Key of pure unadulterated unapologetic monkey pwnage.
Ya, but it only works if you are one of 300 identical monkeys all pressing F1 at the same time when told by a Fanta guzzling, cheeto dust finger licking, lip smacking fleet commander.
I think ganking prevents a lot of pve focused players to enjoy the game the way they want it. Specifically a lot of people love to grind a lot of PVE content just to bling their ships more and more and see their fits get bigger and bigger numbers aka they create almost infinite content for themself and create demand for those shiny drops that often found in low/null sec. With ganking they grind up till they get lets say a mix of t2/green mods and to scared to buy/use better modules. If they find no interest in other aspects of the game they either quit because there no point in grinding anymore or fit those modules get ganked and quit.
I think in a game that is so much PVP focused already it’s ridiculous that so many people defend ganking/griefing to no end. I think a good start to balance “ganking” would be to encourage profit ganking those who fly with 500 skill injectors in a 0 defense ship and discourage ganking miners, mission runners and so on. I dont know how that should be done but maybe by restricting very cheap dps hulls like destroyers or similar. So if people want to gank they have to put some 50m+ big ships on the line or bring far more people.
Why? People defend what they enjoy doing.
Excellent. In order to do that everyones fit and cargo would have to be accessible at the click of a button and not dependent on a module. I think all ship fits and cargo should be transparent and freely accessible so gankers know who to target and who not to!
And mission runners have plenty of antiganking tools available to them. They are just too lazy to use them. Sucks to be them. Especially when they loose their blingy marauder because 1) they didn’t pay attention to local, 2) didn’t keep an active eye on d-scanner, and 3) was too lazy to MJD 100 km off of the landing.
So, you’re saying that pvp shouldn’t be allowed for frigates and destroyers? Excellent idea. The FW people will love that!
Obviously FW, LOW and NUL should not be restricted.
Finally, someone with some common sense around here!
Never mind that, for example, over half of all Ventures lost in highsec are actually lost to NPC rats. Effectively ganked by NPCs as part of PvE. So howcome NPC ganking is OK but player ganking isn’t ?
In fact, the only Venture I ever lost in any of my accounts was lost to NPCs.
The simple fact of the matter is that NPCs are just as toxic as high sec gankers.
The only fix is that NPC’s in high sec should not be able to destroy your ship. NPC’s should be subject to CONCORDs wrath as well.
There should be absolutely no danger or risk for the player in high sec. It should be absolutely safe. It’s the only way to protect the precious noobs.
They would be better off getting out of mom’s basement and grinding money IRL.
Because learning curve is far softer. If you die in pve mission you will maybe fit more tank or learn that moving around reduces most damage sources or fit a snipe fit. While if you fit more tank gankers just add couple more destroyers. I think a lot of PVE players play couple hours during the day after a days work, so for them spamming d-scan / looking up sites with activity map and so on can be quite exhausting. Btw why do pro-gankers often start insulting people? I thought this was a civil discussion but people write stuff like “They would be better off getting out of mom’s basement and grinding money IRL.”
Really?
Pressing a hot key every 3 seconds is exhausting! I should know. It’s a key tactic to surviving in low sec and WH space. And as casual low sec pirate I can tell you that my poor finger has a callous because of it.
You’re right. It’s too much work to pay attention to a game, especially in high sec!
I think pro gankers just troll lazy in game behavior.
