Have you done the content?? The pay is crap. Which is why I tip my hat to those on both sides for even participating.
No. Biased systems are not scripted. They are just biased.
Seriously, learn the difference.
tending to yield one outcome more frequently than others in a statistical experiment
Which means CCP would have to code it that way…scripted.
And its not biased, its up to player participation.
That’s kind of the point. If CCP is going to make a big deal about “make your choices, permanent impact on the world of EVE” then it should not be a rigged event where CCP expects one outcome and removes player agency.
Highsec players only seem to show up when they are getting paid isk.
Well apparently the current outcome of most systems going Edencom proves your statement wrong.
This remains to be seen. CCP may actually be trying to help the trig side, I think even they want to see a system flip to Trigs. Otherwise all their work in assets done for Trig content would be for naught.
At first there was only one or two new systems coming up for stellar reconnaissance. Now there’s like 4-6 at a time now. Almost as if CCP wants to try to split Edencom forces…
* Puts on tinfoil hat *
Apparently not this time. The pay really is crap.
OMG, listen to yourself.
Scripted = reading from a script. An already written story where your input has NO influence.
Biased = your actions do matter. If one side has a 60% chance of winning and the other a 40% chance, your actions can tip the balance, CCP doesn’t know the outcome, but… there is a likely current to the outcome if players split evenly.
See above for why you are wrong. Just because it’s not a perfect 50/50 chance does not mean it is rigged. Rigged again means your actions have zero influence.
There is nothing wrong with an unbalanced fight where one side is the underdogs. It still allows player agency.
Atm killing a Trig Dread gives .01 standing. Killing an Edencom Dread gives .24
So it seems the Trig players get more. What more means based on standing is yet to be seen.
Could be bugged as well, who knows atm. Lots of speculation either way.
Had it in reverse, my bad.
It doesn’t have to be 100% to be rigged. Any move either way is rigging the system. No shades of grey.
You are assuming this is meant to be an equal system, and not lead to a different outcome than the status quo.
You said it right there: an event that is meant to lead to a different outcome than the status quo. Even if there is a small chance that CCP doesn’t get their desired outcome (and doesn’t change the rules to make sure it happens) it’s still removing player agency when CCP starts out with the intent to have one particular outcome.
ust because it’s not a perfect 50/50 chance does not mean it is rigged.
Uh, yes it does. If you have a gambling game where the dice are non-random in the casino’s favor everyone is going to call it a rigged game even if the player does win sometimes. Biasing the odds in one side’s favor with the intent to produce a particular outcome is a textbook definition of “rigged”.
This isn’t an event. Its a permanent change to the map. Events disappear with no impact on the game.
With context to an MMO clearly. I mean, if you want to be that much of a snowflake.
You really have gone downhill with your posting, you’ve reached the level of utter trash posts now. Crying because an event isn’t perfectly 50/50 outcome.
Perhaps CCP has finally found the elusive highsec content they have spent the last ten years looking for.
{citation needed}
Since when did “in the context of an MMO” mean that MMO events are not considered rigged unless there is literally zero possible chance of anything but the intended outcome? Could you provide some sources for your use of this definition, or did you just make it up to suit your position?
Crying because an event isn’t perfectly 50/50 outcome.
Now pointing out the fact that CCP has biased an event is “crying”? JFC you’re desperate to insult people.
And, to be clear, I have no problem with CCP running events that have predetermined outcomes. I have an objection to them running rigged events while simultaneously running a marketing campaign about how important player agency is in the event and presenting an incredibly dishonest description of the situation.
(I do dislike the Triglavians as a faction and want them to lose this event and hopefully disappear forever, but I’m hardly the only person with a favored side in this.)
I felt dirty after reading that
I think that systems being able to be flipped could open up some interesting wrinkles in future releases; and there’s still another quadrant thingy to go for this year.
It’ll be interesting to see whether or not lowsec can be flipped at sometime in the future; an ambitious group could do things with that.
It all depends on how ambitious CCP are.
We can always clean our ships.
