The Future of Eve, and why hasn't there been anything new in 10 years?

haha so salty

Someone who has one killboard record in 16 years is in no position to comment on PvP or PvE…that was the point you yourself weaseled out of.

The problem is that popular gaming culture satisfies the whole “play the game any way, your way” mentality, which breeds a form of entitlement that is not well recognized.

Eve Online is one of the few games that allows players to have power dynamics between each other, and punish each other’s gameplay choices. This infringes on the “play the game any way, your way” mentality. You have to adjust your way based on others and their way. This leads to a fork in the road: some people recognize this as a new challenge, and thrive in it. Others do not recognize it as a challenge but as a fundamental flaw in the game. They are blind to their own entitlement baked into other games.

They “deserve to play” the game on their terms and “who are these other players to say that they can interfere”? Well, the 20+ years of mechanics in Eve Online, but that doesn’t matter: it must have been flawed the entire time.

To circle around back to your comment: many people simply don’t want to move out of gank-heavy, crowded systems and min/max-d yield zero-tank because they don’t want ganking gameplay to interfere with their “play the game any way, my way, and this is my way” mentality (breeding the “solutions” such as “eliminate ganking so I can get my way with zero effort” kind of posts).

The problem is that people get it all ass backwards. Eve is not a mining game that just happens to have some irritating PvP element that ‘interferes’. It is fundamentally a pew pew game in which mining is just the lowest level of activity in a massive pyramid of activity whose apex is pew pew between ships. Mining is not the apex of the game…which is why all those entitled miners are wrong.

I am afraid you two are spot on with this.
Sometimes I wish I could give posts more than one heart each.

The problem of course is that one can never play any game “your” way entirely.
One can only play within the games parameters.
In other words, one can only play the game’s way…

Once people get this, then what they are wanting can be better refined and requested.

Totally understand, I start this game from mining, sold ores mined by Catalyst, and got an Iteron(MK.Ⅱ or Ⅲ?).Then a cheep contract of Retriever from a CAS senior player. Chat while mining, gather isk and skillpoints as everyone. But one day,a craze guy gank mining ship by no differences.Use an orc as disguise, stole ores and wreckage, induce drones to fire, then change ship to a Myrmidon, made pages of miningship KM. So the first time I got into pvp,was driving a Brutix in pve suit, with a new friend as rookie as me,even the same ship same suit.We make 17jumps,and both fought to the ……end of fireworks. But the craze miner killer got confused.
“Why you guys come here fight with me”.
“Because we despise what you have done to our miner comrades.”
“So,you are miners,but I don’t remember I had your miningship KM.”
“Not yet.”
“So,where are you from.”
“Jufvitte of Kiartanne.”
It’s end with two KM of Brutix, for a promise:“you are the first dare to resist,I will not set foot on Kiartanne to kill any miner there.”
It’s not happened in ‘Tranquility’,it’s happened in our Chinese local server,a parallel universe story.
I’m gona ask,did you guys ever fight for justice, for the weak.Or just being the bully, using rules as excuses?
After that lost,I spend two years transforming into a warrior. In CAS,that time I was known as a “School Cat”(kind of mascot)as I pretended, and claimed——always curling up on asteroid belts, enjoying the sunlight.
Then, oneday,we made our own Competition of CAS,with alumni participate in.3 old players lead 12 rookies as a team, only T1 frigate and T1 equipments.I picked Griffin, and won by 1 for 15.( I cheated, the pre loading ammos in Medium Ancillary Shield Booster, are Navy Cap Booster 100,which concealed in the ship’s inspection.I intentionally lost that Griffin in the final charge, and confessed while noone found.)
After that I got invitation as combat instructor, from low-sec company. But I didn’t take it,and only play as whitename mercenary.Help rookies of CAS,the last farewell performance was help two rookies ,they got conflict with a rich rookie belong to the PIBC(use to be the true one Overlord in 0.0).They were scrambling for a abnormal signal(I don’t remember what it was). I drove a Cynabal join the fight,
two Rattlesnakes armed by billions of isk,one killed by us,one set free. The arrogant rookie of PIBC learned a lesson. And our CAS rookies, happy like birds.
I’m surprised how many times I’ve watched the movies——Clear Skies(1 to3),never joined any company of palyers, never retreat in any battle.Fight for balance, and never overuse violence. The reasons for not into combat anymore, and back to the belts?
I made too many friends, even more with those I had fought against. But loneliness deep in the heart, like a blackhole ,too heavy, and can never be filled.I run away from all the friends I made in this game(and in real life). It’s too much pain to see unfair things happen, and fight every battle with a lonely heart beating in the chest.
That is why some of us always need more to heal, more unbreakable to build, more friendlyships to cruise, more space to be alone.

There is only one form of ‘justice for the weak’ in Eve. And that is to no longer be weak. Everyone else has their ulterior motives…even for ‘helping’. The only person in Eve you can truly rely on is yourself. The solution to being weak is to skill up and be strong.

Yes I do

Here’s how your post went: don’t care about OP’s point, I won EvE, case closed.
Posts like OP’s and yours were present in these forums since forever, no need to bash him.
PS: eve is kinda dead, it died when Pearl Abyss dragged it at the bottom of the Marianna trench.
I tried it again a couple of years back, and boy oh boy my beloved home Providence was soo empty… a far cry from what it once was, empty like the void.
I saw many people that “lived” in this game going away, just because cccp couldn’t get their act together and started chasing microtransactions money.
RIP eve, I had fun when eve WAS fun.

Welcome back.

Nice to see you! Funny that you say “this whole thread is full of pointless stuff that’s always been around” and then turn around 360 degrees to say “Eve is dead” which… has also been said since 2003. I guess you couldn’t help also stepping into the mud pits? :stuck_out_tongue:

I clarified your post there. I hope you don’t mind.

I don’t want you to accidentally ignore, erase, or otherwise stomp out others’ feelings in the Eve community that are able to still find their passion in the game. I understand you were in a moment of rose-tinted nostalgia of the past which is probably why you didn’t mean to accidentally imply that everyone still getting enjoyment from Eve is somehow objectively wrong. This way it won’t look like you’re just coming back to the forums just to :poop: on people’s hobby. It means conceding Eve can be fun, just not for you. Which unfortunately violates the meaning of what you originally wrote. But is perhaps what you meant?

How’s that for an attempt at a positively-framed comment?

Love your positive comment, you are just the kind of player eve needs to reach new heights. Have “fun”.

Thanks! I hope one day you are able to return and find your enjoyment from it.

Mine too.

But I have this:

And a monster…er…peen. But the mods won’t let me post a picture of it.

I’ve had an on again off again relationship with Eve since I stopped no-lifing the game back in 2008/9. I’ve been back actively playing again for about a year this time.

Eve has never had this much stuff to do and theres loads of new stuff. I’m still discovering things I didn’t know about or hadn’t tried after 20 years.

Its absolute nonsense to say nothing new has been introduced in the last 10 years.

Theres also absolutely no need for anymore separation between PvP and PvE, or protection for PvErs from PvP. If you’re paying attention the risks are negligible and the rewards significant.

I don’t recognize the game I play in the OPs post at all. I do recognize the OP though, people have been making the same type of post for 20 years. After thrashing about on the forums a bit they will go back to the type of game they actually enjoy instead of wishing for Eve to be something it isn’t.

Well, you’re definitely blind as a bat and dumber than a mule to think that…

Especially since my personal security status and Faction standings say otherwise. And as a member of this community I’ve contributed way more helpful info than you and your buddy rat pack could ever hope to do.

So yeah, go ahead and post some more of your ludicrous BS and show us all just how much of a troll you really are…

Very well said and 100% correct…

Well…that’s a great distraction from the fact that you have one killboard record in 16 years of Eve yet you consistently lecture others on PvP and PvE. My point is entirely valid…who the blazes are you, with your one killboard record, to lecture anyone about what is spineless activity ?

Why is it that the vast majority of negative comments on this forum about PvP come from people who’s killboards indicate they have not undocked in years ? It seems to be a consistent trend here.

Easily something an alt could have done, years ago. But you’re, like usual, missing the point:

Stating “everyone I disagree with is an alt purposely made to create an echo chamber” is a meaningless and useless statement based on zero actual knowledge and facts, especially if one drops it to then wait for someone to react to the obvious issue with the statement to then go “see, told you so”. It reeks of self centredness and a lack of critical thinking.
