The Future of Eve, and why hasn't there been anything new in 10 years?

Removing PvP from high-sec would turn activities like mining and hauling soul-destroyingly boring, rather than merely mind-numingly boring as they are now.

People who play and (inter)act as if they were NPC, or bots, would love that. Most ā€œMMOā€ work that way.

Not players but characters online. Big difference. And a healthy change as a lot of these were just afk multibox-miners and -mission runners which were not contributing to the player experience at all. They are not missed. Players/charactes online also is not an economical indicator nowadays, where a lot of income is generated through real life money to plex conversions, not subscriptions. Eve seems very healthy to me. And yes, there has been a lot new content over the years - probbaly just not the one you would like to see.

Eve ever was a PvP based game, this will not change. ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  people over is the very core of Eve. The moment you generally make PvP consent-only, a major part of PvP focused players will unsub and leave. No PvP → no losses → no demand → goodbye economy, hello Eve Online - the ā€˜careless miner without a purpose’ simulation game.

What should change, is that there should be more focus on PvP from CCP side in form of tutorials.
How do aggression mechanics work? What do the different timers do? What are the differences between high, low, null and wormhole/Pochven space mechanics wise? How do bubbles work? What roles are there in group PvP? … All this could have several career agents to explain things to new (and old) guys and hopefully make them more comfortable to take risks.
The agents could send players to a newbie lowsec system and explain how things work there. From there, the next agent would send them through a newbie W-space to an agent in a newbie null system (take one from Joven space for example). All these systems would have same restrictions as the starter systems: so PvP-consent only in these systems, no griefing, no scamming. This way everyone could explore these types of spaces harm free, learn the mechanics and train for PvP with strangers or friends when wanted.
Might take the fear of such activities from a lot of people. Of course you always have those that strictly do not want PvP in a PvP game and reject any deliberate contact with it, they then actively chose to be the victims.

I know, what you said is the most boring viewpoint in this game.Seem you had never touch the edge of ā€œbeing strongā€ļ¼Œlet alone get into it. Skill up?and better ships with better equipments?no you don’t need that to be looked like strong. What really matters,is what inside of you.ā€œI’m strong, get the xuck off meļ¼ā€ ,or ā€œHello ,anything I can helpļ¼Ÿā€andā€œjoin our fleet letā€˜s fly togetherā€.Ulterior motives ?I help for nothing, win trust then request?OK,all nice things I done in this game ,maybe just for one image ——The Strongest School Cat of CAS,or Don’t wake up the sleeping cat on the asteroid belt,or essentially, the bigbrother you can always trust.I DON’T judge about ā€œweakā€,I HELP because everyone get weak time.Miners got, pirates got, everyone in front of the screen, got.Maybe you had never met this kind of guys, but may you get them fly by your side.

Ah…yet another 14 day old noob alt with vastly more opinion than experience, or killboard. Dismissed.

That’s nonsense, as we all know there are some who create a new alt every 5 minutes to drone on about the exact same point using the exact same terminology. Whilst the honest people just post on their main or at least on some account that shows they have ever actually undocked. And the issue is not simply whether a person ā€˜has’ a killboard…but whether they are rattling on with ā€˜advice’ on PvP or PvE yet no indication can be found that they have ever undocked let alone actually engaged in any of those activities they claim expertise on !

I totally agree with Aiko on this one. If a person is riling against ganking…I want to see some indication that they have ever actually been ganked. If a person is giving their view of PvP…I want to see some indication that they have ever actually done any PvP. And so on. That really isn’t too much to ask.

Didn’t you start your posting ā€œcareerā€ pretending to be new?

Nope…unlike 90% here I genuinely was new

Right.

Their allegedly first char was Cilla Cybin, which seemed legitimately new. Started out posting about how lame it was for leveled vets to be against newbies. Switched to ā€œganking and PvP is awesome and the only thing that matters in the gameā€ after joining a high sec ā€œPvPā€ merc corp.

Curiously, felt it was okay to post opinions about things despite being new and having little experience of anything.

A refreshing burst of genuine noob experience on a forum full of fake noobs and people with one killboard record in 16 years lecturing to us all.

The two of you collectively have one killboard record in 18 years…yet are among the most opinionated people on the forum when it comes to PvP.

I rather liked your suggestion on how to replace CONCORD. A lot of people say they don’t like CONCORD but never suggest a better mechanic, well done.

This thread should be closed as CCP are literally adding in brand new t2 capitals, so OPs point is null and void. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah, I doubt that. If DMC is an alt then they’ve been a very-active-in-the-game-at-least-in-the-past alt.

He’s been a mission runner and explorer mostly, iirc. His faction standings guide has been useful for many folks.

Certainly DMC and I have not always seen eye-to-eye since I started subjecting myself to this forumadness during the wizardhatfanfest time, but he’s at least not disingenuous.

ā€œpeenā€ must mean ā€œegoā€ in some language, then. Which language?

Because CCP is interested in Short Term Return On investment With as little Expense as possible… Combine that with an over 20 year old code base. and their fascination with Investing In FPS games that then NEVER see a launch get scrapped the staff get let go then they try again a few years later only to do the same thing again… with all the money they have put into making an EVE shooter they could have really modernized the EVE code base or Actually hired on more staff and made Decent content/ big expansions again

wat ?

why did u only quote one word of my post ?

@Smuff_Gallente

To F wid ya

Because its the part of your quote Im questioning.

When did they do so in the past?
