Don’t ask me, I don’t understand the difference between OS systems…
Pretty much all I know is that windows is a hell of a lot more user friendly. We used Mac desktops in 1995ish in grade school, but even they went to windows.
If you don’t make your opinions known from the out-set, where do you draw the line?
I understand why CCP crossed-the-line (scarcity outrage) but in doing so they made an exception that lends credence to - in my opinion - player’s misplaced outrage. It was an admission of defeat. I don’t like that look on a Viking.
Insert some jibe about “space-poor” that I’ve no real interest in making.
Hey I paid good money to forum warrior here.
Amended so that I can claim total agreement with your point.
Unfortunately, at the moment I am space poor. I resubbed 10 accounts with Plex.
I’m refitting my bus/home with all the time I have now I only run 2 accounts instead of 15. Turns out 30 hrs a week can turn an old bus into something really comfortable to live in.
There used to be a moral / philosophical difference.
This is no longer true.
This is not the place to discuss it unless I can connive a connection between The Grand Heist and the grandest theft of liberty known to mankind.
Yep, ban all the Alphas who post on the forums. That would really be a good move, don’t you think?
Lets up the anti, ban everyone who posts on an alt, then ban everyone who is a casual player because “casual” they obviously aren’t “invested” i the game.
I take it you’re talking about the budding politician Brisc.
Personally I have no problem with “his” opinion, except when he states it is representative of everyone.
Funny you say that… Had CCP listened to the CSM and the masses 6 or 7 years ago 1, we wouldn’t be seeing the type of changes we are now 2, many of those you see as not invested in the game would still be actively playing 3, Just because someone isn’t actively playing doesn’t mean they aren’t invested in the game.
Skooli or full size bus? I’ve been working on the same thing.
Pdanet costs $7 and allows you to tether your computer. I have a Walmart phone plan, $55 unlimited everything, and for 10 accounts (no lag) I use around 45gb a month. Somewhere in there is also Spotify, since I listen to music while I play.
I have 3 350 watt panels, which covers my electric needs.
I’ve been living in my skooli while I work on it. Very comfortable and affordable.
The forums aren’t where most new players go to for anything constructive, and certainly not for regular direct contact with csm or devs.
That being said, I see your point. Ban alpha accounts that used to be omega, and are regularly taking a dump on anyone outside of their opinion or clique. I’m absolutely certain they know which accounts I reference.
I suppose you’d call it a skooli. It’s a 26ft Leyland Tiger repowered with a 6BD1 Isuzu.
I’m an Aussie, pay $40 a month for 70gb and unlimited calls. I just tether to my phone and can run 2 or 3 accounts easily, screen space is the biggest problem, lol.
I have 2KW of solar and 4 200A/H batteries in 24v series, runs everything although my aircon (is winter here and where I live we get 35c (95f) days) sucks a bit of power so use it sparingly.
I too am living in mine, with my 2 dogs while renovating.
Eve-o would help with your screen space issue!
You would be banning roughly 70% of forum users. I do see your point about forum trolls but I think CCP also realise blanket banning Alpha’s that used to be Omega would be a disaster.
In my 17 years I’ve seen some very adept trolls on these and the old forums. The worst of them do get bans, the others just get ignored or warnings.
There is also a big difference between disagreeing with someones point of view and actually trolling. I’ve been known to become quite “vocal” when I disagree with someone or something CCP has done or planned.
I only ever been accused of being a troll by those who can’t see past their own point of view. I also try to not appear to be trolling.
Also this account has not been subbed for roughly 5 years but I can assure you, I am invested in the game.
By that logic new players that inherently have no idea what they are talking about and most of the times regurgitate the most hilarious things should be banned as well, as they are by no means “invested” in the game and on top of that don’t have the slightest idea what they are talking about (as evidenced by the myriad of UI changes that were based on newbie feedback but made and make no sense at all (the gong, automatic camera turning to the next gate when AP is on, the idea that telling them to use the AP in the tutorial to move around is a good idea, the , etc.). You are only allowed to post if you are older than 3 months and have been Omega for 2 months.
Just because people were bitching about stuff back then doesnt make you right. Newsflash, people always b_tch about stuff. There have been plenty of Dev mistakes before.
Yet the numbers do not lie. CCP have F-up, big time, and its cost them thousands of players and LOTS of dollars. I sincerely hope they reverse their toxic changes before its too late.
How about the eve birthday event, every Omega player gets a praxis, gnosis, sunesis, and an apothesis. Sold to buy orders it was around 200 mil isk as well. There is no difference (from a player not economic) perspective between giving free money and giving free ships that sell for money. And the economic effects of giving all that is are not very significant, especially when compared to the total is in game. Lastly this kind of isk, as I said before is extremely helpful to new players.
Only those prepared to pay $20 for it. No Omega = No Isk.
Giving free ships is even worse than free ISK. While free ISK only removes the players from the open world farming for a bit. Free ships remove not only the people who have received these ships from farming the materials and ISK to afford ships, they also remove sales and activity potential from other players, who then don’t have to spend time in space to farm the materials to build ships. This wouldn’t be a big issue if these ships were not so ridiculously powerful. Just one example: Instead of Prospects, botters rather use Praxises and Gnosises for gas mining because they are ridiculously tanky if someone with a braincell uses them, can even deal DPS and can boost mining cycles. This takes away from Prospect producers and reduces the cost for miner botters.
All in all: Anything that removes players from the open world, regardless how short-lived that is, in a game that centers around engagements between players in the open world space is bad. Period.
That is a myth and strawman. It does not help them at all. It gives them a crutch for a time. But that crutch eventually crumbles and then they don’t know how to stand on their own feet and do things necessary to farm the ISK. It tricks them and prevents them from realizing that getting ISK, getting ships, getting modules and then wasting them in PVP or PVE requires time and effort. If you teach them that you can have all these things without effort, it only breeds more dumb muppets that are just ever more willing to buy these things eventually for RL cash. That is what CCP is inching towards with their ever more blatant steps in their salami tactics. And comments like yours or Brisk’s help them achieve that goal faster.
New omega players then. And again this is a ploy to get more people subscribed to omega, but then again, as are most things in this game.
I was a new player 8 months ago, this kind of injection of isk would have saved me month or two of grinding at least.
And then what? You’d not have learned how to grind the ISK that you need on a regular basis for your ships, modules and other activities. You’d have just postponed your grind by a few days or weeks. Plus, you’d not have started to learn right away that achieving something in EVE, regardless whether it’s affording a BC, BS, carrier, production materials, exploring, running missions, joining corps, developing your space, all takes time and effort. Or in other cases you’d not have looked for groups to join so that they can help you progress more efficiently and you help them better and better to achieve their goals. Instead, you’d have been spoiled rotten and just expect more handouts.
