apparently, some of the distance calculations are wrong when referring to speed.
One reason is that the space in which the distance are calculated in, are warped and curved, and so, the direction of the calculation is off by the same level of the relative gravitational fields, which may or may not be much, depending.
Also notice that the relative speed is at over a certain required amount that it’s reaction is enough to go through mass, if it had a higher relative mass that is, since light is extremely light in mass.
Remember this small mass particle going through the earth’s mantle and breaking up the levels of the earth mass right down to the center of the earth, destroying all atmospheric systems almost instantly.
Not only can it happen to us, but we can also unfortunately do it to other celestial bodies.
WoWs’ Halloween event is interesting… they’ve implemented submarines for the battle against Rasputin and having devleoped the emchanics, I wonder whther they might be thinking of adding submarines to WoWs… it’s a tricky stuff because IRL submarines were terrible ships, slower and weker than their surface countepart. Specially when submerged, their RL velocities were ludicrously low compared to the WoWs meta. Juggernaut era BBs are a PITA wih their velocities in the 20-21 knots, which is faster than all but the fastest submarines in WW2.
For the Halloween event, they’re using fantasy submarines which reach cruiser speeds both on surface and submerged, but that would be out of place in main battles. Anyway they’re an interesting twist.
People have been asking for subs for a long time, they only see to the cool factor. And totally forget about the balancing issues and how campy they would be, we already have issues with heavily armourd battleships camping at the back. Making the lightly armourd ships do the fighting up at the front, when it should be reversed.
Yes, the main issues with WoWs are related to human nature. The “sniper” Kurfurst and other A-rowers and edge huggers are born from loss aversion and probably this is what people think of submarines… just dive and you’re invulnerable, right? But even as PvE event, NPCs have depth charges (“Steel rat” destroyers, plus the ballistas on shore) and your submarine has 50% of its detection radius, even below periscope depth (haven’t really gone to the max diving since oxygen supply runs out too fast, that’s a mechanic they should trim if ever implemented in main game).
The real issue is velocity, though. Either submarines are spawned ahead of the main fleet (but then, they shouldn’t be allowed to capture unless surfaced) or they’re given fake stats and cruiser mobility, just with limited submerged speed so “experienced” submariners stop ramming BBs at 24 knots. But also, with realistic velocities, any submarine spotted would be dead meat to destroyers and cruisers as they would have absolutely no chance to disengage. There’s a lot fo balancing and probably WG will go for ti sicne they got all the code and emchancis in place, and probably ar live-testing stuff with the event… but I bet that submarines will be a massive disappointment. Not as terrible as CVs, but they’re bound to be the toughest class of all instead of camper easy mode. They better be heavily punished for not engaging, else suckers will just bot them into dive-emergency blow-dive again.
(A part of me wonders about German submarines and acoustic torpedos… and silent rigging… and adjustable run depth)
“OOh subs will be so cool” i can’t remember how many times i have heard that, and yes like you said Wargaming will be forced to do a heck of alot to make subs playable. The maps are really to small for any decent sub play, also they would have to implement depth charges.
And yes they will be a dissppointment, cause people have the subs from the movies in their heads and from other sub games. But the other sub games have way larger maps, usually a whole ocean.
The issue with submarines is that they’re ambush weapons. A convoy is spotted and you rush to a interception point for days, estimating their speed and yours, then they come to you and you torp the hell out of them then you GTFO. That’s Silent Hunter gameplay.
But WoWs is about tactical gameplay. The fleets have encountered and they battle each other in chaos because nobody wnats to have their Tier X paintjob scratched and yadda yadda. Moving and positioning during battle is a key element, but how you position your sub at 19 knots if you’re spawned near A and all enemies go to C? It’s damn frustrating with low tier BBs, submarines would be even worse as once in the battle, anyone spitting in your direction will one-shot your unarmored hull. HE hits wreck you and AP hits flood you since 90% of your hull is underwater. It’s like destroyers but with sub-BB speed and no real guns… a tough sell.
It sure is fake or funny fake , however, fruit of lack of employment does not produce very useful service for society either…
Maybe he wants to start into organizing his own business or for others instead of fighting a war he is trying to make himself lose.
