My resolution is 1920 x 1280 since my old screen suffered an accident and stopped working properly last year. Then I unknowingly traded a 24" screen for a 25"’ with a few extra pixels in height…
Can’t really notice the difference other than the first times of using it where I looked at all that extra real estate…
And now i’m off to bed. Nightie lovelies!
Also: turns that 2020 was a good year…
…for fatalities in airliner accidents. In total, 8 accidents with 314 fatalities (including one on the ground) is a record low, specially considering that fatalities included an airplane shot down by missiles plus an accident caused by pilots without a license (!) and dubious knowledge of flying airliners (!!) who were flying with Pakistan’s national airline (!!!) and messed up everything messable after getting in trouble.
0.03 extra seconds per person to do something with for 82.445 years =
7.8 billion persons times 0.03 extra seconds per person =
234 million seconds divided by 60 seconds per minutes = 3.9 million minutes
3.9 million minutes divided by 60 minutes per hours = 65,000 hours
65,000 hours divided by 24 hours a day = 2,708.33 days
2,708.33 days divided by 365 days per years = 7.415,0125,5 years of extra time.

0.03 extra seconds per person to do something with,
if using 0.3 seconds per persons out of the 0.33 seconds per person,
previously calculated.

The Wooden Planes That Terrorised The Luftwaffe | Battlefield Mysteries | Timeline
…Florida man spends 3 months waiting to buy high end computer processor, is delivered singing fish instead…
Now seriosuly i’m disconnected form current computer technology, but I guess the processor is worth the effort you’ve put to get it. 12 cores sound crazy!
Totally worth it! I won’t have to upgrade my cpu for another 8 years now!
Actually its very much overkill as I really dont use my PC for anything other than games and occasionally light work related stuff for when I dont bring my laptop home.
I could have very easily gotten away with the 6core Ryzen 5600x but it was sold out before I could put it in the cart so the next best and more expensive thing was the Ryzen 5900x.
My only regret is not picking up a graphics card as well while they were in stock. My GTX1080Ti still works pretty damn good for now so I can’t really complain. That new CPU will however be a major upgrade along with the new motherboard and it’s PCIe 4 lanes. Should see a nice boost to my SSDs too!
However I’m not looking forward to draining the water out of my custom loop and tearing half the computer apart to swap motherboards out. I will probably have to replumb the CPU waterblock as it will not be in the exact same position as my current one.
After watching that video, a thing has occured to me, and I’ve understood someting I’ve read a few tiems each time I re-read Kim stanley Robinsons Mars trilogy.
The Moon (or Mars)… it is an OLD place. Really, really old. Everything in those landscapes took billions of years to shape. All the craters and cracks and ridges and mountains… they’re OLD. And what happens when we step on it? We leave footprints. We dig out stuff from here and pile stuff over there and build this and that… and it changes forever. Our actions undo the work of billions of years. And once undone… it’s lost. Nobody else (Human or not) will ever see it as it was. That’s not Earth. Earth changes year to year, even if we don’t account for the frantic pace of life compared to geology. But the Moon… Mars… they’re old. And some people is bound to love them that way. And protect them. At least, parts of them. They’ll request to build viaducts as to not destroy the floor of craters specially beautiful or meaningful. They’ll oppose destroying with each step, each wheel track, the works of eons. And they will suffer many defeats, and enjoy some victories. We’re going to destroy some mighty old places just by being there. We’re young and efimerous… but mighty. And a little crazy and plenty of stupid.
The Moon and Mars will become places and will stop being what they’ve been for all the billions of years of their existance.
Yes, that video made me think. Now I’m off to bed… Nighties lovelies!
Also: The Office meets The Matrix… or something
Since “reality” according to The Matrix makes no effin’ sense, I’d take the blue pill too. Humans as a power source? Pffft!

If it can save their life to help them with constructive criticism,
when they would otherwise be lost into bad habit and die from it,
from repeating the wrong thing by not being informed,
and not being told, and trying to justify it’s better not be told,
and it’s not against self-defense, national defense, and defense of allies, then it’s ok.
Not everyone is expected to get it so good for the exact same reasons.
