…I wonder what is the use for bulbs like this… lighthouses? Airport strips? Sports illumination? There must be some good reason to use a incandescent bulb rather than something more efficient…
Anyway, I’m off to bed, as usual. Nighties lovelies!
Also: a interactive map of submarine cables of the Internet…
Thank you.
and
I apologize for what the volcano eruptions edit-signify-edit, but every time I see a volcano eruption in any part of the world, Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Right Now song starts playing in my head.
Today the last day of the coffee festival that is going to take place in my city. The tickets should be 60 TL.
Today aFar TV has three feeds from the volcano… on the main camera (Camera 1) there’s a vulcanologist(?) or some kind of scientist, talking to other people close enough to the camera to be overheard… earlier was talking about how the volcano was a good chance, where the main lab was located, some places to sleep at and how they’re hoping that the vapors above the mouths stay afloat since they’re rich in SO2 and would be toxic if they fell to ground level. Also commented about subsonic imagery provided by a Italian team which allows to analyze the internal structure of the cone. And now he’s talking abut thermal imagery and how the ejections reach up to 300 meters above the mouth… and he’s not even aware that everyone tuned to the live feed will hear him on the background, chatting to visitors and team mates.
As disgraceful as the eruption is, not having casualties and with (so far) appropiate reaction from public officials and the Government, it is a chance in a lifetime to scientists devoted to vulcanology.
Here in my neck of the woods, there are dead volcanos near to the Pyrenees, the last one erupted 9,000 years ago and the more famous is a dead volcano from 11,500 years ago, with a perfect cone, a former quarry and a hermitage inside the caldera…
Did you know that Leonard Nimoy who played Spock had 3 ears? Yes, 3 ears. Left ear, right ear and the final frontier. Ok, I’ll show myself the way out.
The entirety of Twitch data, including the chat logs all the way back to the early days have been leaked.

Also: 35 years (and a few months) ago…
“The money pit”, a classic. But I wouldn’t bet on younger people even knowing it exists… there’s so much novelty films and series and videos in ever shape and matter that they might not have time or itnerest or a reason to look for older films.
How exciting! My dad loves his(AC’s) books.
Also…you can participate in the book thread if you wish. The more of us fellow bookworms, the merrier it is!
Time to go to sleep! And tomorrow it’s friday! And… well, that’s it. But i’m glad i’m going to sleep. Kind of. Nighties lovelies!
Also: one step forward!
Malaria is a difficult disease, since it’s caused by parasites and it’s very hard to develop vaccines against parasites. Even this first vaccine isn’t exactly a optimal solution, but it’s better than nothing and might lead to more research on a disease which is endemic to many countries and kills 500,000 people each year, half of them children below 5. Also its debilitating effects cause all sort of economical hardships to the less developed communities, where there’s always some amount of ill adults who can’t work nor take proper care of themselves and their children.
