The like and get likes thread

I’m with @Random_McNally what law did they break? If Google is so bad then use Bing :dancer:

To pick up your BBQ restaurant as an example:

How many people are going online to search for a suitable restaurant and read critiques about it?
Now imagine you have a competitor that also happens to be the one providing the major platform for posting such critiques and he wants to invade the market in which your restaurant operates.

How would you defend yourself if he’s going to use his platform to promote his own restaurants and negatively present yours? Are you going to blame the users for not going the extra mile and figuring out it’s all a negative market campaign of fake news?

So that means 1% aren’t lazy sheep.

Now, that is a different story also.

This is a potentially legal issue. With defamation or slander possibilities.

Is Google legitimately slandering or defaming businesses that aren’t in their golden circle?

I’m kinda confused still on this convo. Companies do pay for their products to show up first on the main page. It’s annoying but it’s smart on the companies end because it gets their product out there over all the other sellers/companies. Google does put that it’s a sponsored ad there and I think it simply comes down to the consumers to do their own research and check other stores/shops and not click the first thing they see. If they don’t then it’s on them.

Isn’t that about right?

They are effectively removing competitors off the playing field by penalizing them so hard in their search engine results that it’s effectively the same. Just no words ever spoken.

Corrected so you don’t get angry cooks sueing you about your recipe:

That’s because they’re so abysmal that no amount of advertising is ever going to help them. Not anymore. Word about their suckness is already spread far and wide…

Yeah it’s not a good place but somehow still one of the largest chains in the world!

No, it’s not the same.

They are not defaming. They are not Slandering. They post clearly that it’s sponsored advertisements. If people are to lazy to dig down a bit to find their product at a non-Google sponsored facility, then it’s the people’s fault, not Google.

I used to work for Domino’s about a bajillion years ago. To this day, it’s hard to look at it, much less eat it.

umm… does anyone really use any sites advertisement ads as a “menu” where to get what ever they’re looking for ?
There are much more valid/reliable sites and forums with customer reviews, what to get and where from, not forgetting ones own common sense, ofc.
Those places might be found thru Google searches but hey, that’s where it’s good at :stuck_out_tongue:

All it takes is a tiny level of abstract thinking.
Read the EU press release. They started clearly why Google is anti-competitive and being fined.

Regretfully, yes there are.

Otherwise this whole Google monopoly thing wouldn’t be an issue.
