@CCP_Stroopwafel
Is there a roadmap item to allow users to change order of launch groups created?
Currently the order in which they show in the drop down is based on unknown principle, which makes maintenance a hell of a task. Usage is just irritating at most.
Otherwise huge kudos. Been using the launcher for past 4 months. Can’t be happier. absolutely liking small quirks and features you managed to load it with.
Thanks
@CCP_Stroopwafel
This is hugely important. If the new launcher insists on downloading the client all over again, IT IS NOT READY TO BE FORCED ON US. Ditto if it does not preserve settings and accounts.
I am sorry, but has CCP learned nothing from the Photon debacle about forcing half-baked Betas as finished products?
You need to fix this, or else postpone launch date. No ifs, no buts, your company’s reputation, your product’s reputation, is hanging by a thread.
@CCP_Stroopwafel you guys should really think about cloud-based setting storage for the most important account settings. The effort to manually restore dozens of individual settings for window-positions, chat-sizes, overview settings, shortcuts, chat channels etc… is huuuuge and losing all those settings is extremely frustrating.
Personally, I don’t really see the benefit of the new launcher. It seems like changing things just to change things. However, I think it would be great if it provided something similar to EVEMon functionality for players to get a heads up view of what’s going on across their characters without completely logging into the client. Current ISK, skill queue, mail, industry jobs, etc. Better settings management would also be a major improvement. Cosmetic changes and the ability to log into a character directly and skip the whole 5s of character select is simply not a meaningful improvement.
To me I think CCP just wants to match the launcher with how the NPE looks. With the nice visuals of Aura uhh… clean some stuff up make it look friendly and welcoming. Stuff like that.
If a launcher doesn’t look “welcoming” why even play? The definition of “welcoming” I leave to CCP.
@CCP_Stroopwafel dunno if it has to do anything with the new install that the new launcher triggered, but the Drones in space now always display with icons rather than as list. The dones in bay do show as list.
Doesn’t matter which account I start.
@CCP_Stroopwafel once more this launcher is really no concern to me. But apparently it means the world to you and your company. I sure do wish you the best of luck. I recall I never needed any kind of launcher playing Guild Wars (original) and I still don’t. Point of fact, if I desired to launch it without logging in, I would by a making a simple shortcut format;
gw.exe -password hunter2 -email john@email,com -character ‘Silly Simon Pieman’
One click on the desktop icon and I am in playing the game. Today all the developers want to build overkill launchers, with links to websites, and information overload. As I said above, if your launcher doesn’t end up killing the game for me, I will continue to play for free and occasionally buy Plex as a thank you for this game. Otherwise, I can seek my amusements elsewhere.
Character ‘quick launch’ is not a quick launch if I have to click and hold…just stop
Double clicking on the character picture or name doesn’t do anything. It probably should.
Why in the hell can’t I reorder the order of the characters on an account?
The selection of ‘launch to character selection window’ doesn’t seem to do anything unless using the giant button on the right. I guess this is intentional?
What is the deal with the giant window to the right of the characters? The whole thing needs to be reworked. Ready/plex/Omega/Settings I understand I guess.
The alliance, corporation, and sec status pictures don’t actually do anything. Either make them more decorative (aka actual corp/alliance logos) or just make them die.
The Play now button…it shouldn’t exist. By that time I’ve already clicked the character…just give me the damn character I already clicked on. This button is the only way to get to character selection…how about we just name the button ‘character selection screen’.
Getting rid of that silly big useless play now button would let the character portraits be 5x larger … and that would be perfect.
Horizontal row of chracters on an account OR vertical. Pick one. Don’t you dare make everything MOVE when it is selected. I like horizontal better generally but vertical with names are kind of nice too. Just pick one orientation and stop things from sliding around.
Things that are great:
It worked on steam/linux first try. This is pretty huge.
The news thing is better than before. Compact but still colorful.
Loads faster than the old one. This is great.
Bug reports from launcher is huge and great - I really can’t express how big a pain it was with the old setup. This is far superior.
Thank you for letting me arrange the accounts properly to hide the silly default @steam account.
Have to agree.
Moving character selection to pre login from post log in does nothing.
It seems, in fact, to have added time to the login process
Certainly no change to functionality
Actually you can do both … have the character select screen and have the direct launch. As you found you can direct to go to select screen in the ‘Game Client’ section of settings. But, under ‘Launcher’, at the bottom you’ve your Quick launch options … 5these allow you to still directly launch via the potrait and bypass the select screen.
Open your home folder and check the physical size of the free space. Since my OS and home folder resides within a tiny 50 GB partition, I only have roughly 25 GB of free space. I have EVE and other games installed to an entirely separate partition myself. I never used Lutris - no idea how that Wine launcher allocates space - instead I install Wine from WineHQ and run the programs as shortcuts. Hopefully you are just looking at a partition with limited space available and not the total free space on your entire system.
From terminal you can type; df -h
This will display a listing of all the used and free space across all drives.
What do I need to do in order to get my saved settings for each of my characters to load each time I log them in… Currently : I make settings changes in game, Log out … and my next login all of the settings are reset to default. So its starting over each time I log in.
My installation is Fresh on a New Computer. I opted to use the new launcher with the fresh installation.
For now, if you only use df, unnecessary things will be included in the picture, so please allow me to grep.
/data2 and /data3 are just data storage and are not used at all by applications etc.
/home also has enough space.
very strange
97% full on that one seems to require attention, but doesn’t match the 14.5 GB of free space reported.
From the prior screen shot you can see it wants to install to Z:\home and Z: drive is a virtual drive made by Wine. You should be able to access the drive paths using; winecfg
Then using the drives tab, you can redirect the paths of the virtual drives. For example; my Z: drive path is /media/sysop/Galaxy and I recently posted my newest setup of a Linux SSD here. I got a 240 GB SSD for less than 20 USD and decided to add it to my current desktop as another OS and gaming. I am not telling you or anyone else to buy new hardward, just how it can be reconfigured to avoid setup issues. Hope this helps.
