So as I’ve read in a recent forum post (by another player not CCP) the new launcher will be mandatory soon.
Q1: What is the best way to deal with this, uninstall the old launcher and install the new one or will it work properly if I just let the launcher update itself (or should install the new one over the old one manually)?
Q1/b.: As my current launcher is installed in a custom location does this change anything regarding the above?
Q2: Will the new launcher recognize and keep the settings from the old one (including in-game ones like window locations, hotkey setups and so on) or those will have to be restored (either manually setting everything up again or can it be done by copying some files and if the latter is possible can it mess up the game or safe to do)?
Q3: Can the new launcher be installed in a custom location (including different drive than the system drive) or is it still true that it has a default location (within the system drive in a system folder or something) that can not be changed?
Even on Fastest, it’s still slower than a double-click. Noticeably slower. A double-click doesn’t even allow for 3 pixels of the loading circle to appear on Fastest.
More than half a year and it is still HUGE, non-intuitive. You CCP guys don’t give a damn about feedback, do you?
Changing in options to launch to login screen for every single account separately… that’s harsh.
In legacy version, starting any number of accounts with a few clicks, now it has doubled, not to mention scrolling for users with multiple accounts.
It’s good you want to improve player experience, but by adding to much functionality you paradoxically taking it away.
Also, are these changes for current playerbase or to attract new? You win some, you lose some.
Is it correct that the launcher now keeps the passwords, as opposed to the old launcher where with “remember me” unchecked, it required you to type username+pw with every session ? And there is no way to make it behave like the old launcher i.e., type in username and pw for every session ?
Great way to start forgetting passwords again, if that is the case.
Also noticed that, opposed to the old launcher, if you now dare to “remove account” from that beta launcher and try to log in again you are greeted with the “verification code” thing every single time… Why ?!
Not to mention not getting to the character select screen from the launcher window. I guess we’re supposed to use the buttons in the neocom to get to the login rewards instead of using the character select screen. Why ?!
The best thing to say about it is that it doesn’t waste screen space, unlike the escape window. Other than that, it’s gone through one iteration too many. It got Murphy’d “a little”.
Why launch account button so far from account menu? If i want to launch to login screen for example im need select account then move mouse a half of launcher
Why there are no account labels? It’s was very usefull.
It’s a really pain to people with 5-10+accounts with no compact view
Ctrl+F opens up the spotlight menu, which has all kinds of quick-access stuff.
The menu options merely fill in the prefix of the search bar, so if you really don’t want to use the mouse to start a client you can do something like: Ctrl+F => play: <charactername> => <enter>
Are you sure you are on v1.0.X ? resizing was added to the launcher around 0.4.0
It’s seems good to people with 1-5 accs.
But still looks very unfriendly for me with 30+ accounts and no compact view.
Scrolling scrolling trying to find definitely account…
Very disappointed, please leave the option to use old launcher
Update: solved by completely deleting new launcher folder in appdata, but have to sort accounts one more time (it’s a pain for 50+ accs), it’s was not copied from old launcher
