The new EVE Online launcher Beta

Can you please add character location to the launcher?
Tring to find a trade alt in a specific place or whatever still relies on having to go to the character select screen and the information is 100% available to the launcher anyway

CONGRATULATIONS! What an absolute disaster of a ■■■■■■■ launcher. Where did you find the interns that did this for you? I have to make sure I never hire them.

This new launcher is pretty craptastic.

slower to launch the launcher, slower to launch the game…it locks a specific character on the account so I have to log into the game, log out (to char screen), and then log in AGAIN to the correct character.

Also, daily rewards on that initial specific character log-in don’t work, so you have to log in, press escape, log out, and then you can collect the daily rewards.

This feels like an alpha prototype draft where buttons and info is drawn out as a concept, and none of the implementation, optimization, or iterative bug/fixing occurred.

Yo CCP,

I can understand wanting to change the launcher to make it Prettier and easier???, really does it need to be easier?
So easy that all you have to do is click on the desktop icon and it logs you in automatically?
Sorry but I prefer to have ability to enter my credentials to log in, not for it to remember them for me, this is a security issue and yet the write up about the “New Launcher” indicates “improved Security” what a joke.
Here’s a suggestion, give us the option of using the previous launcher (which there wasn’t a dam thing wrong with) or make the “New Launcher” have us enter our log in credentials when we fire it up.
Other then that, keep up the good work, wait… there are still things IN the game that need fixed or updated.

Thanks for your time.

Good evening.
I use Eve Online installed on the windows 11 operating system, and I use the new Eve Launcher 1.2.6.
I will have to format the PC and reinstall Windows 11 (for reasons other than problems with Eve Online).
I would like to know if having the Launcher and Eve Online installed on a partition other than the one I need to format, will I lose screen positioning settings, etc.? If so, what will I need to do to save these settings?

New launcher installs in the user’s profile.
Shared cache location (i.e. the actual game files) is configurable.
If you place your shared cache on a separate partition and migrate your profile between reinstalls, you won’t have to reinstall anything EVE.

Some accounts don’t have a PLAY button, I wonder how i am supposed to launch them

and, lol, my guess is it is for privacy issues that the huge amount of white space between icons and buttons does not show my account name. It would make it to easy for me to see which account i want to start

I had the same problem, no play buttons at all but beyond the big EVE HAVOC ad. So finally I’ve chosen the chars I wanted to log in with and pressed the HAVOC button, and I was logged into these chars directly.
So it looks like we have to redeem the daily rewards manually by the “present”-icon in the NEOCOM bottom left.

the play buttons appear when you made the launcher very small and cant see the havoc ad.

Some feedback:

  1. I wanted to log in to the character select screen. I enjoy the music and effort you put into that screen and don’t want to accidentally immediately log into space.

This button is hidden behind Click account > Account settings > Launch Settings > scroll down to ‘No’ (from default yes. Why is yes even the default?)
… repeat for every account separately. :disappointed:

  1. I want to spend the least amount of time in the launcher. This means a single click to log in to the account I want, like I could do before.

But no, I now need to select the account, then press a ‘launch’ button somewhere else on the launcher.

Conclusion:
I do not need all the extras, but this launcher is a step back from the easy-to-use launcher I used before. What I want is a minimalistic launcher that allows me to see my account’s omega status and allows me to log in to the account that I click.

Can I have the old launcher back?

(Yes, I gave the same feedback when this launcher was first announced, but it looks like you did nothing with it.)

@Gerard_Amatin No need to do that individually, in launcher settings there is a checkbox:

not for me unfortunately

In addition I cannot tell which character is selected. but i dont need that character launching anyway so i don’t care

Another great launcher ‘feature’. When you minimized witdh of the launcher and go to settings, the window expands off your screen. Took me some time to even realize that it happened, just wondered why most things are hidden. The lack of scrollbars is most confusing.

Make it wider, a lot wider.

My feedback so far.

When you click on an account (rather than a character), it expands out that account, showing characters (and the Vanguard thing). Clicking the account again should contract it back to the account name again.

And let us remove Vanguard if we’re not interested in playing it. I’m not. I don’t need screen real estate consumed by something that’s simply of no interest to me.

Also, why does right clicking on the Vanguard icon have a different behaviour (trying to get you to launch it) to right clicking any character icon in the same area of the UI?

EvE broke the game for me with this New Launcher. it just says some error occurred, no info on what is wrong or what to do to fix it. Going through the usual BS with verification (no progress bar with that so no idea if it is actually doing anything.

This is a bad design just like the last launcher, it is of no help at all with knowing what is going on, “verifying game files, this may take a while.” No progress bar moving, no spinning icon, no time out notice, nada. I’m 100% guessing that it is stalled out for some unknown reason.

If it isn’t doing anything, why does it not realize it and say so? If the program hangs it should know it and say so. It would be nice to get a useful launcher that actually helped us address and troubleshoot any issues.

A post on what we should do if X, Y, or Z is happening would have been a great link to have around at the deployment of the new launcher. Perhaps under “new launcher issues” would have been ideal. Looking for this obvious topic gets zero results however. Issues do not go away if you close your eyes or pretend they do not exist! This should be instantly available as a search result!

I’m sick of dealing with download issues with EvE, or with connection issues. How hard is it to have a launcher that can tell if it just isn’t outright working?

Maybe a button to auto generate a “launcher failure report” and get it sent in might be an idea?

Sadly the days of actual tech support where a CSR would fix something wrong with their launcher/program on the consumers end are long gone. Instead players are expected to guess and spend hours doing through long lists of generic things that “might” apply to their issue instead in order to stumble across a fix and get back into the game.

You have to wonder how many people just move on from a game when it does this to them?

I know the most likely comments are simply going to be troll replies of unhelpful sarcasm by players finding all this amusing. My post is being made to highlight the shortcomings of the latest launcher (no better than the last to my eyes) and maybe someone at CCP might notice the frustrated feedback and make the blasted thing more helpful.

This so much. It’s one of the things I gave feedback on when the new downgraded launcher first came out. That expanded account also persists upon reopening the launcher next time.

In the amount of space that my old launcher took up, I could see 9 accounts plus which characters were on each account because of the note feature. Now with the launcher set the same size I can see 3.5 accounts. But wait, get this if I make the new launcher a little bit bigger I can see 2 accounts. That’s right, the new launcher actually displays less useful information when it’s made bigger.

Wow! Great job guys, We really appreciate you shoveling this steaming pile of launcher on top of our heads.

Oh wait, even cooler feature!

I can’t add my Steam/Eve account to the launcher.

Keep up the good work.

Oh nevermind that feature is broken if you relog a few times.

This is quite possibly the worst aspect.

Not the actual launcher behaviour, but the developer behaviour. There are things that are just so broken with it that have been reported for months (I haven’t gone back to my initial feedback on the beta version because I was hoping against all sensibility that the fundamental problems we all reported early were fixed), but CCP refuse to engage on them. They neither fix them nor tell us "No, that’s actually by design (or even better, explain the design to us).

For example, I’m damned sure that the Vanguard button for each character (and the inability to disable it, and the fact that it behaves differently to every other button in that area of the launcher UI) is designed to drive people into Vanguard…

But then do the players the dignity of saying so. Or admitting “nope, we just ■■■■■■ up, sorry, we’ll get to fixing that” so we at least know what’s going on.

Instead, we’re left to wonder what the hell’s happening. I’m seriously expecting Angels/Guristas Faction Warfare to go the way of the Triglavian canon - great and interesting start, then the team gets fired and the end’s never actually achieved (and I have to hope that was the case here because why the ■■■■ would anyone with any clue leave an area of space in the situation that Trig space’s in now…).
