You came around a lot, hu?
Army brat, who joined the RAF at 18, no choice in the matter of where I lived when I wasn’t at boarding school.
This is to both you and Solecist_Project…and the rather more philosphical Prospektor Schipplock:
Honestly, THIS is what i was hoping to get from an Eve online forum.
Now, I know there’s heaps more to discuss…the new nerfs, buffs etc, and how we’re all going to play the game going forward…but, honestly, this is, hands down, the best conversation I’ve had online, outside corps and fleet stuff in discord, by a long, long, way.
I don’t know how to post this as a general thing but, if you do, pls share it.
hmmmm…you could be right. I live in Brisbane and left the UK in '94, from South East England, my family from the East End of London. The first time I heard the word “Wazzock” was actually in Melbourne, Australia.
Now, you may be right…it could be an “English” word…but, as I’m sure you know, we English language-speakers cannot even agree about the niceties of our own language!
And, to be honest, “Wazzock” sounds a lot more Aussie than it does English.
The forums can be rather polarised, it tends to happen when you have diametrically opposed people discussing stuff; and the ISD team DO cut us a lot of slack that you wouldn’t see elsewhere.
The forums are very much part of the game to those of us that use them, who the bad guy is depends on who’s doing the looking.
Sol is seen as the bad guy by some because he’s a hisec PvP player, there again I’m also seen as the bad guy by many of the same people, because I’m very much pro sandbox despite being more of a PvE player.
In reality I’m just derailing the thread and either everyone’s in on it or no one notices.
OH LOOK! *gazes at a butterfly*
Eww, lived in East Ham for a while in the late 70’s early 80’s; horrible place.
Fixed that for you …
… and that one as well.
I’m well aware that I’m the only one willing to actually point this out
and that people who aren’t above average will find reason to feel offended …
… proving it.
Oh ok…so I’m really just being totally naive, expecting a conversation here that isn’t in some way trying to gain an in-game advantage? Really? So no “real world” at all?
I’m pretty sure that’s not what he meant.
lol not at all
I’m quite happy to shoot the breeze on the forums about inconsequential stuff, I’m also happy to enter into reasonable debate about stuff of consequence.
Why do you think I live in Australia?
On fire half the time, trying to kill you all of the time; still better than London.
ok…all good. So I’ll hang around - not that that’s a big deal at all - but, if enough posters ignore the trolls and end up discussing stuff, then something will have been achieved.
…I mean, it’s unlikely, given the toilet that characterises every other public forum so often but, hey, let’s give it a go at least. i still want to try and hang on to the idea that mankind is more than just an accidental scourge on this planet…and, regardless, we happen to be playing a damn fine game right now!
Also…to be fair, my whole “ancestral” family grew up there, in West Ham so, it might be awful now but, in it’s day, I think it must have had something going for it. I think it’s lost that heritage now.
The same could be said of anywhere, I live on the outskirts of a west country resort; just down the road is what used to be a prosperous spa town, art deco buildings, a royal arcade the lot. Now it’s the shitty part of town where the addicts live.
Observe! Without me the discussion dies!
The fight IG is going on here !!!
"Your playstyle sucks, mine is way better "
The participation on any boards, tweet, etc … is often motivated by the pure joy of trolling.
It is like a hormonal kindergarden …
Just one of those guys suffice to cause havok in any discussion
You asked for it.
The problem is that a majority of the “discussion” that happens on the forums usually boils down to:
“I’m a bad player and the game needs to be changed to make it easier for me. If you disagree, you’re a troll.”
There are very few people on the forums who actually who will take responsibility and look to actively improve their skills and knowledge. Instead, it’s a bunch of manchildren crying because they got ganked while afk mining and not paying attention.
