The Orcas in Uedema belong to Code - alts - AFK grazing while their mains wait for victims at the Citadel near the gate.
Their Hypocrisy knows no bounds
Edit: They do gank traveling Orcas - waiting for their victims to come to them - usually takes 20 to 30 toons in destroyers, of course this only works if you have the ability to dock and reship in just over a minute. If the dock restriction for a weapons timer was doubled code gate ganking would probably die out.
When we roll into fields of hapless carebears with our Orca fleets and start munching their delicious ore, trust me⦠there are plenty of tears as they scream ātaxesā and āour oreā before we eat it all.
Iāve flown all the mining ships (except Rorq) in hisec, low & null. For the most part I think the balance is pretty good. The few changes I would make would be nerf the Orcaās ice yield and add a drone bay to the Prospect, otherwise Iām a happy bunny.
Itās about enjoying the game for me, I love the Orca because it is a multi purpose platform. It can mine, boost, store and haul and even rat a lot of the o-sec beltrats. But for the sake of variety I would love to be able to put one laser on the Orca. When training most of itās skills to lvl 5, I also feel itās mining amount is too little, so thatās why I now stopped flying it. A TII fitted Orca easily goes over 1.2B ISK, and for this amount of investment in ISK and in time training it up to lvl 5 I also want a higher amount of mining yield and more variety in playstyle: SOLUTION: Allow for one (unbonused) laser on the Orca! Even if I have to buy an extra highslot for it making it pay to win⦠I would love an expanded Orca with some more options adding even more variety to it.
For me the eternal argument: āit is meant to be a mining assisting boosting platform only ā¦blablablaā is meaningless, because it is meant to be a fun platform only, I play Eve for fun.
I loved flying the Orca for a long time, just at one point I found itās mining amount too low. I know I can train for the Rorq, but I feel the Orca could get a (small) mining buff, imo the difference between Rorq and Orca in mining amount is too big.
Unless Iāve done the maths wrong it mines less than an unboosted retriever or proc. Feel free to demonstrate your maths and fits if you disagree of course.
How much should it be mining relative to what ship in your eyes.
To be honest, it is wrong to compare the roqual to the orca.
The roqual is a capital ship, and the orca is not. That knowing the roqual has too much yield comparatively to any other ships true.
However I do agree, that we are missing some items which would be useful for the players.
Mining drone yield skill implants is one, mining drone stat implant set is the other, and mining drone yield enhancer low slot module.
Since the orca relies on multipliers to reach itās yield each of these modules would boost you up. It would cost hundreds of millions of isk, but at least you would have options to grow, plus you could also benefit when you use mining barges.
No one would use mining implants, at least not in high sec. Not only would you lose your 100+ million ISK barge or 900 million ISK Orca, you would also lose your 500 million ISK implants when you get popped, and eventually it will happenā¦
Noone should use command ships like Nighthawk as combat ships, they are support ships yet they do. Maelstrom should not be used as mining ship, yet they do. No one should use anything for anything by your logicā¦Because reasons right?
Why would I not use expensive implants? If I get popped then what? By your logic I should be scooped up in a station covering in fear that my character might be destroyed and because there is the chance I might be popped, and therefore the game shouldnāt be improved by expanding player options. What???
But noone should ask for them to be good at combat, if their role is not for that.
Again, noone should ask to boost mining yield of Maelstroms.
Same with Orcas. They are not ships that should mine, they are ships that should command. If a player uses them for mining, he should get worse results compared to actual mining ships.
