Most of western Yurop can thank the Romans for their existence, tbh.

John Cleese was a teacher before the Monty Python era; English, Geography, History and Latin.

I can honestly say I’ve never seen a Monty Python skit or film or anything. Same goes for Mr. Bean. \o/

As for you @tutucox_Khamsi, can I interest you in the words of Sir Terry Pratchett?; as funny as Python but on an entirely different level.

Correct. although I did see the clip linked below your post. I lolled.

oh boy, you really need to watch the film; it was so controversial that it was banned in many places as blasphemy, when Norway banned it it was marketed in Sweden with the tagline “The film too funny for Norway.”

It’s still banned from public performance in a few places here in the UK, I live in one of those places.

@tutucox_Khamsi the Discworld books are even better than the films, and there’s far more of them.

Thank you. I rather feel welcome.
The loudest mouths aren’t necessarily right or interesting.

They can thank the Greeks and Romans for some form of government and system of laws but their existence? I don’t think so. Not by a long shot.

yeah
apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Oh no doubt the Romans passed on some real nice innovations - did you know they had a water-based organ? - but to say “existence” is pushing it.
Let’s not forget that the Germanic peoples took over the empire and kicked Roman butt.

They taught us how to laugh, the Romans that is

I tried to watch a couple films of Monty Python but I didn’t find anything funny in those. I don’t get English humor except for Mr.Bean, he’s hilarious and a genius.
