This forum is brutal

Typical man, betting with money he doesn’t have

IIRC he has a wife; the way that generally goes is what’s his is hers and what’s hers is her own.

It was never his money.

@Jonah_Gravenstein
How awful. I feel bad now. He can then keep the isk he doesn’t have. I won’t hold it over his head anymore.
So it’s that how it works? His money is hers and her money is her own? What kind of marriage is that?
When I get married, his stuff will be his and mine will be mine and we’ll have a common pot ( of gold, lol ) that we both can use for whatever.

I always thought it’s “What’s mine is mine, what’s yours is ours:stuck_out_tongue:

An American one.

I’ve pretty much permanently sworn off the prospect of a relationship because of that.

It’s not a serious comment, it’s more of a humorous reflection on life.

I don’t blame you. Who would want to get shafted that way until death does them part?
With my parents it works the way I said. My mom has her own stuff, my dad has his own and then they both pitch in a common pot for the both of them. They’ve been together for almost 30yrs and I’ve never seen them fight. Of course, it’s not an American marriage, lol.

:orange_heart:

Or one can omit all the possible marriage dilemmas and just become “self-partnered”.

I don’t think self-partnering gets you all the tax benefits.

As if millennials and zoomers worry about taxes.

If only we had the money… Hahahaha…

Still much cheaper than alimony.

My best pal and the most recent person in my life to get hit by this now owes 40% of his income to the ex-wife who abandoned him, kidnapped the child to another country, lost the child in an extradition battle, decided she doesn’t give a crap about either of them and cut off contact, but ultimately came back to get the cash after the local courts raised her to the level of sainthood despite her numerous crimes.

Most guys I know who have marriage experience are either divorced, in the process of being divorced, or worst of all are being threatened with divorce unless they agree to her doing what she wants and sleeping with whomever she wants. The more younger ones closer to my age who are dating are all in “open” relationships (as in open for her, not for him).

With birth rates for the generations being down by as much as 80% in some areas, some are actually doing quite alright financially. Of course, we’ll never own our own places of living, vehicles, or take vacations, but we’re definitely able to treat ourselves to some PLEX every once in a while.

Uh… not sure what to say. I know a few people who are married in the old fashioned way.

Same. AND they’re happily married, too. Been that way for a while.

“Happily” married is a moving target. There are degrees of happiness.

Most of the ones I know who have stable marriages are older.

Who needs a house, when you can shove your money at digital assets and twitch subs. Those boomers will never understand…

Yeah, people under 35 or so don’t seem to conceive of marriage in the way 50+ year olds do.

Digital? Speak for yourself, pal. I’m living the life as I’m sitting like a posh French prince in my gaming chair in my 8’x11’ room, sipping the finest gamer girl bathwater and snorting the finest crushed antidepressants money can buy.

Mostly humans are hateful in general, especially with the anonymity of the internet people show their true colors, people wear the best face they think benefits them IRL, sadly this is humans for you, just don’t think about it too hard, otherwise you will be like me, a misanthrope.
