EVE needs to be shrunk, not expanded.
Why exactly are you not just starting to play EVE Frontier today? All your points are addressed by this?
A silly ideaâŚas theyâd be unequal again within a week.
The best way to fix eve is to ban multi boxing. Limit each player to 1 account. If they log more then ban them and every account linked to them.
I was going to say ââŚto 1 characterâ but I do tend to get carried away with radical solutions.
Much later, I would be asking R&D why they keep pumping out new versions of Eve? Other game companies work with multiple titles, genre, and not all space related. Why isnât there a solo offline game that is sold for $40 flat? If 1,000,000 copies sell the profits would add 40 million in revenues which is 35 million more than what they currently lose.
Let me introduce you to a little company called riot games, that still after all that money and all those years, still only has a single viable product, they have tried other things, they just didnât work out
Sometimes people are only good at one sort of game, the correct focus is to abandon all the side projects and instead focus on the core product to get that in to a better state first, once that becomes more profitable then you can look at side projects, although you will likely still retain the EVE IP in those projects so that youâre just expanding on the universe rather than just creating some random game that probably wonât work
New IPâs are a super massive risk and for every Clair Obscure there is an Anthem and a Dawngate and many other games in new IPâs that failed, creating a world from scratch takes a lot of effort, so unless you are planning out on attempting to sell random slop, i donât really think more games is the solution
OK, so letâs do nothing. BORING!
What are you blabbering?
Valorant is more popular than Overwatch it copied. Team Fight Tactic is just as popular if not more than Auto Chess it copied (I sure prefer TFT). Only the card game Legends of Runneterra didnât end up with great success, but it still has loyal player base.
Unlike CCP games they did not cancel anything.
You mean other than the entire publishing arm they cancelled? the MMO that is essentially DOA, their card game which is by their own admission basically dead, TFT is doing well enough but still not a new IP, i keep forgetting valorant even exists because nobody ever seems to talk about it, same goes for overwatch 2, the only time i remember that game even exists is from the occasional crossover trailers i see, i mean iâm sure valorant has its playerbase but outside of that playerbase its pretty much not talked about, hell iâm on the 3rd party API discord for all riot games products and the valorant channels seem pretty dead, to the point you can actually see discords notices about date changes without even scrolling, so while iâm sure they seem to be happy with it, iâm not sure its garnered as much widespread appeal and interest as some people think
Riot is also currently burning money trying to get in to the physical TCG space, best of luck to them with that but i donât think they are going to manage against the big 3
Outside of that riot already knows that its not super sustainable when it comes to monetisation, yes they have the big whale gacha skins, but considering they recently partnered with a crypto exchange and changed rules regarding gambling sponsorships, i think they are starting to see the bottom of that barrel when it comes to league itself
And considering CCP also decided to poke its head in to crypto, well
Cryptocurrency is not an answer. And I loaded it up the other day.. A dark and empty place is not appealing. Seriously that is how CCP is introducing this game?
I donât hear about valorant either except sometimes it pops up on my phone as a suggested news from some esport website. But apparently it has very good numbers and the esport is alive too.
On the other hand, I did hear about Overwatch 2. It is being review bombarded on steam and players are massively leaving due to predatory monetization. On top of that I heard that Blizzard canceled Overwatch league. Whether it was no. 2 or no. 1 that I do not know. Either way Overwatch is in troubles, Valorant is not.
The MMORPG they are cooking was canceled already ? I did not hear anything about it. Or are you prophesy its fall because your personal feelings?
I wouldnât write it off that soon. LoL has huge fan base and MMO is not a niche anymore like card game or 1st person fantasy shooter. Could be a huge success. Even if not, all Riot games are still supported and running. No project they are working at has been canceled either.
So I just donât see the comparsion with CCP at all.

The official statement was along the lines of âWe have decided to go back to the drawing board because we didnât feel we could provide something uniqueâ which is textbook corpo speak
So they basically threw out whatever it was they had up until that point, given the numerous waves of layoffs since it would generally be considered unwise to bet on it actually ever seeing the light of day, while it has not officially been cancelled, it has essentially been shelved indefinitely
I donât really see riot getting back to the highs they once had
You know, itâs interesting that you asked this. Over the past eight months, Iâve actually spent more time in the old X-series space games than in EVE Online. I hadnât touched those games in years â pure nostalgia. The ones I played were:
- X2: The Threat
- X3: Reunion
- X3: Terran Conflict
EVE and the X-series are completely different games, but they do share a lot of similarities. Since the first X-game, the main storyline has been about finding a way back to Earth. That finally happened in Reunion, but in Terran Conflict it turned out to be a pretty boring and unpolished terran space â though the ships were good, by the way.
Long story short: in EVE Online, I think it would make sense to introduce a new empire faction behind the gate â one thatâs as hostile or unfriendly as the existing ones. That would be consistent with the kind of narrative and tension we see in games like EVE.
Of the X-games I mentioned, my favorite is X3: Terran Conflict. I decided to skip X3: Albion Prelude and go straight to X4: Foundations, since it offers completely new gameplay, mechanics, and concepts.
