Not arguing with immature players, good day.
If you feel like your posted replies are constantly being flagged and hidden even though they conform to the forum rules, then file a complaint with Customer Service.
It’s interesting as the one spamming flags on appropriate posts can deal with the fallout, I personally don’t mind.
Why complain? it’s made this place more sterile than an operating theatre. But required for the toxicity I suppose.
Hey OP interesting thread. Very common with older games to see threads like these.
Just want to hit on a couple points.

The safety button. Ya, that is a bit much, making mistakes and paying for them/ learning from them is in my opinion an important Eve feature.
-
Besides the safety button, the dumbing down of the game could also be looked at as quality of life improvements depending on who you ask.
-
Oh and skill extractors. Given that it’s a player driven market I really dont see the harm. Sure you can move skills around at will, but it will be at a loss of skill points with considerable cost.
A ‘classic eve’ would definitely be an interesting game to play. All the old ways to find and make content. The freedom. The player driven stories. Social gaming being the norm.
However, eve has come a long way. Ship balancing, UI improvements, getting rid of (true) unnecessarily complex/difficult mechanics, feature improvements.
I’d still prefer to play eve of 2010/2011, but it may be a bitter-sweet.
Nope, old WoW was popular because it have place and activities and sefe spaces for everyone not for just few gankers, like Eve does. That was reason why Eve alway stay small and insignificant.
WoW is a totally different animal. It suffers from issues that Eve thankfully will never have. Classic WoW is doomed in my opinion before it starts. If changes are not made soon we may see more new comers to Eve due to the failure of current and classic WoW.
Not sure that’s a good thing as most WoW players think Eve needs to change. Usally shortly after they get scammed and realize its allowed.
But facts is:
WoW and Eve started practicly at same time
there is much more WoW players than Eve players
Blizzard earn loads more money than CCP
majority of gamers at least tried WoW
majority of gamers for Eve said: Nice but no thanks …
and ??? Who is right, who is wrong ???
Who got the results ???
You can’t really compare Eve and WoW. Its not like comparing apples and oranges it would be like comparing apples to apple pie. While both may be good one takes more work and know how.
WoW’s success came from the fact that there wasn’t a steep learning curve and almost everything was laid out for you. Raiding was for the more hardcore players and wasn’t a requirement. WoW’s down fall came from the fact that raiding required more so some people felt left out. Blizzard made raiding easier and everyone cried because WoW had become to easy. This lead to WoW classic.
Eve was always the raiding type of player. The number of Eve players is probably a good representation of the number of hardcore raiders in WoW.
Its okay to not have a game that is for everybody. The issue becomes money is CCP happy with how much they make if so Eve stays some what hardcore if not things become easier and people complain. This thread is probably a good indication of where Eve is heading.
Tell this to CCPs CFO and board of directors ![]()
Read the next sentence. Don’t just reply so you can complain because you are unhappy.
With ya on this. Been here since mid-2007. took a 3 year break too.
Come back and there’s a community full of babes moaning about “how hard it is to do _____”
I know the Social Justice Warrior movement is a thing… but I pay about $30.00 a month for this game to take such crybabies to school. I can handle the moaning, but I DO NOT CARE FOR THE RAMPANT “petition the devs to change this game because its TOO HARD” crap.
If EVE is too hard… you should go find other games. Not seek to alter the one thing that distinguishes EVE: The thrill of accomplishing objectives in a challenging environment.
You are more than welcome in this Eve, you and all like you…
All five of you…
But you are not enough, if you want that “YOUR” Eve survive you must quickly find much more allys who will pay monthly subscription because CCP is running out of reserves and desperately need new subscribers …
Solution is easy bring 30 000 new subscribers and Eve will live and everybody in CCP will be happy, maybe again eploy some new people … ![]()
Balos, is that you?
Sounds to me like the OP isn’t going to resub. If he doesn’t resub will he tell his friends to sub?
Just last month I was talking with 2 other guys in my class about games. EVE came up. You know what I recommended they do?
Stay away from EVE.
That’s a problem for your subscription argument.
The bevy of strange ideas and stubborn streak are indeed similar, but relvara(LSG) is out to be a vandaltrollspammer intent on disruption. At least balos wasn’t that way so much.
I’ve been playing on and off since 08, so not quite as long as you have. but pretty damn close, and, IMO you are looking at the state of the game before with some VERY rose tinted glasses, or at minimum not remembering a lot of stuff and why much of it got changed. so i’ll go through these point by point.
Medical clones: this change was WIDELY considered a good thing by the community as a whole, both pvpers and carebears a like. because while yes, it put some extra value to loosing your pod. it also statistically, and factually made people risk averse. The removal of medical clones, and more recently the ability to clone-swap with no cooldown at citadels has been objectively good for the game, because it makes it that much easier to just go out and have some casual pvp. “we’re gonna roam till we die” was never a thing with medical clones, because loosing your pod was just one more expense.
wardecs: This one I can generally get behind, even when i first started playing, if you where in a small corp and got wardecced, the advice was just to dock up, log out, and come back in a week or two (assuming they came back at all) now, if you want to fight in HS you need a structure, and if you want a structure, you are playing with the big boys and open yourself up to wardecs. seems fine. yeah, this means people can dodge wardecs by just not having a structure, but hell they used to do that by sitting in npc corps, now they at least there is a chance they can start doing stuff with their friends.
safety button: ehhhh, not a big deal really. don’t want safety turn it off, just means that newbies who don’t know what is allowed or not in HS aren’t gonna get themselves concordokened by accident. sure it could be argued that suddenly concord is an important learning experience, but that happens what… once… twice at most, its hardly some pervasive constant content. least with the safety setting players learn what they can and can’t do under green settings and can CHOOSE to set it red and open fire.
don’t like it, set it red once and never worry about it again. takes a whole 2 clicks.
instant corvettes: hasn’t this always been a thing? I certainly remember getting free corvettes back when i started. so maybe that was a change they made prior to 08?
extractors: there are pros and cons here. frankly I never would have come back to the game had it not been for extractors cuz they let me “restart” without completely loosing 5+ years of progress, and actually getting a character name/etc that i actually liked instead of being stuck with some dumb ■■■■ I thought was funny as a 20yr old kid.
Missions: forgetting your cargo, painful yeah, fun… maybe once or twice. but it gets old fast, the notices are hardly obtrusive anyways, if your noticing them enough that they are bugging you, then you are already paying WAY more attention than your average mission runner does.
Skill injectors got to change Granite I have a crack addiction myself with them I just basically skilled into a jump freighter the other day cost me about 500 bucks I had saved up whatever
I agree with there is no good reason for a 3-day old character to be able to skill into a Titan I agree with that it was only a AMA video on Eve. Under
This is my own self just being annoyed Capital Nerfs I would love to become a capital mining pilot but I’m really starting to wonder if there’s any use because they’re nerfing the ■■■■ out of it
Maybe a bit of a romantic but the way that I see the rorqual is to be a very powerful ship and basically out there on your own with maybe three or four barges doing your thing far away from nowhere but it became a klusterfuk because CCP doesn’t know how to balance their economy so they it’s start nerfing the ■■■■ out of things they they should have not have Nerf did any more after the last Nerf
I also think Plex has became too easy to use the Plex 9 accounts they should limit that down two maybe three if they want to keep it that way but I look at Plex as this it’s a way for me to make isk just so I can play the game and lose ■■■■ and not worry about it because if you look at you look at the kill the killboard hover over the loss it will show you how much it is in real life money and I’m like $4 is nothing so I don’t look at Plex as a way to pay for my game I look at it as a way to make money to play the game the way I want to play it I think though to make Revenue for the economy for themselves to keep the game against of stainable they need to charge for people’s accounts I pay for all for my accounts and real life cash not Plex
Think I’ve just reached Peak Cynicism reading these forums.
What are you talking about?
People want fun from games not self-punishment.
Many had tried Eve but when they saw what a masochistic game they were just laughing at, and moved further to better games.
Eve has a few players not because they have become easier to play than because Eve have conceptual problems and lost developers who do not understand the human psyche.
They must first come to Europe or America and live for a year among normal people and only then begin to develop and improve Eve.
