Toxicity in Eve

What an amazing picture! :rofl::laughing::smiley:

You sure you are playing the same game the rest of us are?

Maybe its the people your hanging around. Maybe you should go it alone, or get with a better group of people.

I’m an old hat at this myself, and I know to keep to myself TO myself until I can get some points and skills under this new guy I made.

Just like in real life if you have nothing to offer, and are of no value, you are of no use.

Yes, its just a game, but its an ADULT game. This isn’t WOW, or Candy Crush. You have to EARN your place in the EVE universe.

This game isn’t for everyone, and that’s why its so appealing.

It’s almost like you’re trying to compete with me in who can troll the most bad threads.

Shall we start keeping score!? :japanese_ogre:

Let me tell you something - just be warned that it might be hard for you to process.

In societies of cannibals that previously existed in America and the Pacific region, eating humans was considered absolutely normal or even part of everyday life. The fact that the European colonists found such practices repugnant was not a problem of those native tribes whatsoever. Well, in the end, it did become a problem for them, because these practices, along with other features, placed them at odds with the European civilization, and native societies were eventually wiped out. However, if cannibalistic societies had managed to survive and prevail back then, you and I would have likely been having human steak for dinner tonight.

Another, less extreme example: an MMA fighter beats the ■■■■ out of his opponent in the ring not because he’s an asshole, but because that’s the name of the game. In a game about carebears and those who wreck them, both are equally normal.

I would ask you why you’re role playing a [insert demeaning word here] but I am on my last forum warning…

Some people find the appeal in getting to play the villain. In most games being a bad guy isn’t encouraged or supported. That doesn’t mean that you’re some psychopathic scumbag. In a lot of cases it’s just a very interesting experience getting to play as a bad guy.

Please don’t turn this into another thread where I have to face the reality of me learning that I have yet ANOTHER mental health issue.

You do realise this is a RPG? Remind me what RPG stands for again?

Not so sure CODE is toxic… In fact if you watch some of the well made videos they have done its kind of inspiring… from a culture of EVE kind of way…

No difference between the CODE and a GATE CAMP… if you really want to look at it in EVE terms.

I mean, I’m not going to be extorted by these guys… They can pod me all the live long day… Ill never pay… Just like I never pay at a gate camp. But that’s me… I’m an old fart I don’t care.

However, least the videos they [The Code] throw out are entertaining, and well produced which is more than you can say for most of the EVE community.

The downfall of this group is they are asking for money, in an extortion’istic fashion…

To be honest, if they were not asking for money Id probably be all in on this CODE thing, but to extort carebear newbs in defenseless mining rigs just isn’t my thing. But,… if that his how they want to play, who am I to say its wrong. Iv all probably done stuff 10 times worse to some newb in low, or null that we didn’t even know was a newb.

Me personally, I’m cutting them some slack…and its mostly due to the videos, and them trying to push in a aspect to the game that is unique and seemingly well thought out… if you can understand that at all [its late and I’m half asleep]. I don’t agree with it, but like I said… who am I to say its wrong.

Gate Camp… CODE… what’s the difference… because I’m not seeing too much of one. We going to remove gate camps cause someone’s feelings might get hurt? It is 2017, and the world has gone crazy.

That can explain the levels of anger, mistrust and frustration.

Oh, I think differently.

There is difference even between RPG session in real life and mmo game. This game is where the concept of a social contract is abandoned, that is all, the opponents dont see themselves, dont hear themselves, cant do harm in other way than what remains. What rises then? Toxicity. Bad words, calling other people stupid or suggesting that.

Despite attempts by some to paint toxicity or being the bad guy as an EVE exclusive, I have played many many games (solo player and MMO) where you absolutely can be the bad guy.

It’s rarely encouraged because there seems to be an unspoken rule that being mean to people in games is a) just not cricket and b) means you are some kind of psychopath in real life.

However it is supported by countless games and has been for decades, pre-dating EVE.

What also pre-dates EVE is that when you be mean to people in games they cry about it, a lot.

At this point I want to thank the responsible people for leaving this thread open that long.

From my understanding of the Code’s history, permits were put in place so that the harassment card wouldn’t be pulled on us every time…

Anyway, it’s only 10m… but people prefer to lose more apparently :stuck_out_tongue:

@Nana_Skalski take a breather pal, it’s just a game about spaceships getting pvp’ed in space by people who want to space pvp others :joy:

Of course it is not! EVE is real! It is a game about real internet spaceships being flown by real internet people and they are killing each other! Call police! We have a murder here! Oh no, he already resurrected and is throwing curses at his murderer! Call child protection, its still a child who murdered! :scream:

I would stop playing it years ago if I would think these actions have any meaning than just attempts at being good at something in virtual life. I have my own desires and they dont include being a toxic waste. :relaxed:

Just because you think someone is toxic, doesn’t mean they are lol

Doesn’t the real fun start when you get to humiliate them on minerbumping.com ?

It happens before

Minerbumping.com is not under the effect of the EULA since it’s a player-driven website.

People can say that they hate us all they want, we all know you love that kind of content (until it happens to you )

That you like it doesnt mean we have to. I prefer other content.

I ■■■■■■■ love the one’s who say “I think differently”.

It’s like a high scoring rare square on the forum pvp bingo card, but mark my words every time it comes up it turns out they think exactly the same as everyone else on their side of whatever discussion.

**places big red splotch on the “think differently” square **
