2 weeks ago laggy and DC within 30 minutes. Sent in logs and other information requested by GM’s. Have not been able to log in at all last 4 days. Is there any time frame envisioned of when this may be corrected?
I went back and once again deleted the cookie and journal files in the %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\ and lo and behold, running perfectly. I logged in today and chat was not working, I closed eve, went back and deleted the two files again and now its all working again.
I’ve had issues since the 12th and the first response I got from CCP THEN was that it was a DDoS attack.
I didn’t believe it then and I don’t completely believe it now.
Internal processing shouldn’t be impacted by a DDoS.
I say click a button that says “Use this comb to straight out Jack’s hair” shouldn’t take longer to process or be more susceptable to DDoS filtering than “Use this polish on Sue’s fingernails”.
It’s a packet with a tag on it and some data.
I’m seeing strong consistencies in which commands are delayed and which execute almost immediately.
The filtering is either seriously horked up or there’s something going on inside CCP’s systems that they’ve not admitted to.
I’m also not finding the attack on any of the services I monitor.
An attack this long should be “front page” on any DDoS heat map by now.
Tibeirus - Things haven’t been too bad for me (UK). Local telling me lies is the biggest issue. Two alts working a mission a couple of hours ago, one disconnected and the heroic remaining alt fought bravely on. Reconnected and landed right back in the current room, rejoined fleet and finished the mission. Gloria Gaynor is my new virtual friend - I will survive! Huge relief, I thought I was going to lose at least one ship. Likewise though, if I’d remained in losec I would be scared crapless to undock. Hisec is ok for a while, building LP for faction ammo but when I can’t risk losec because of dodgy local, New Eden becomes a bit boring.
try to play again. Log in successful. When jumped between system, lag, a big one. Lost connection again. Seems the same, impossible to play under this conditions.
holy ■■■■ guys, just got this game to play with my son. 4 days now, neither of us can even login. i dont think he has anything training. only been here 2 weeks, and i intentionally spent the same as a triple A game. ($60). i got omega status for us for a few months and like 1 level 5 skill. is is like this often?
Congratulations on deciding to play “Spreadsheets in Space” with your son. Assuming CCP ever gets their collective heads out of their asses the game will get better.
In the short term, I’d advice getting a free VPN service (I’ve been using Windscribe) and connect to the game from some location as close to London as you can manage.
The best I could manage is “France” (where exactly I don’t know but it’s closer than Southern Indiana).
You won’t have a perfect experience, but you will likely be able to get in after a couple of tries and do some Newbro stuff.
Don’t stress about level V skills this early! Try to do some quick trains to level iii and maybe cherry pick and choose level iv on damage/fitting type skills best for your empire/class of ships. The benefit of IV to V is not much compared to the time it takes when trying to flesh out enough to have a viable fit earlyon. The only V’s I’d do now are any required to make other skills you need eligible to be trained.
(sorry for off topic, but he mentioned it here and i can’t log in to mail him…)
The type of attack does not lend itself to an easy remedy. The internet, as envisioned when it was created did not account for bad faith ‘actors’ that would pull an attack similar to what is occurring. The fix is out there, somewhere, but it remains to be seen if folks would want to pay what it would cost to implement.
If I am being perfectly honest at this point I don’t believe the servers are actually being DDoS’d by the original attackers. CCP has more than likely hired an incompetent group of companies to run DDoS protection for them. I am in NA on the West Coast and I can say with 100% certainty that when I go to connect to TQ I am being routed to California, then hitting a company CCP hired for DDoS protection. After that the tracert goes cold; which is to be expected. I personally have had limited issues connecting to TQ this entire time. However chat servers are another story entirely.
Amazon AWS has intermittent issues with the ELB (N. Virginia) node from when the attack first started. The latest report was listed as follows “[RESOLVED] Certificate Issuance Delays.”
Without seeing the actual TQ server logs to confirm against my guesses I would be willing to bet that TQ actually has no issues at this time and the “Issues” are being artificially created by Neustar to extort CCP for money. Just my 2 isk on the issue at this point.
Northeast US player here who previously reported Neustar issues. Tonight I was able to log in immediately, no issues, very minimal lag, was able to do some missions, combat, warp between systems, etc. Logged into 3 separate accounts each successful on the first attempt. Huge improvement over the past week.
Edit: Just to report after some more playing, I did get a random disconnect once which I was able to bounce back from very quickly. And Chat is working sporadically.
Still Progress! from my perspective, as I can actually play unlike the past week.
The problem wit local & chat is ur tryin to use level 1 SPY IP’s, in 1 case xerox corp.
ccp is already promoting cyber-bullying & harassment, don’t make things worse by using SPYware IP’s
I’m not sure how my corp will recover from the damage of missing all of our moons, PI, fuel and indy jobs. Even if you did give free Omega time at this point, being almost 10 days out of game is detrimental to the very fabric of a continuous sandbox game where you have to work with a group to complete complex tasks. The loss is probably in the billions and billions of isk. I unsubbed today, and don’t plan to resub or login till some sort of statement is made.
