Tranquility Connectivity Issues Megathread

Thank you for the constant updates, transparent communication is always appreciated especially in trying times.

Keep communicating and we’ll all get through this all the better for it.

Connecting from Turkish IPs and problems seem to go when I use a VPN. Utilising some free VPN trial periods or limited data but soon I’ll have to pay for a VPN to play efficiently. I’ll continue to see other free memberships I can use, but overall my playtime is being limited as I don’t want to spend all free bandwidth in a period where there are daily log-in activity rewards. Good luck with resolving the issues.

Of course not. If the chat servers are in the same data centre they have protected access to TQ and can piggy back on the data connection that serves the simulation data. If you can’t connect properly to TQ being able to connect to the chat makes absolutely no sense.
With the chat in the cloud any kind of DDoS will screw up the connection between TQ and the chat servers.

Continued thanks for the continued work and updates. Despite the few moaning, the vast majority of us see the improvements and appreciate the effort it takes.

Keep going - it’s much closer to the end than it was and it will be cool again.

I would suggest you contract your stuff to me, but you’ll be back. They always come back.

Oh I am not leaving the game for good lol just no point paying if I can’t play at all. I have no problem with a few days a month not being able to play but going on half a month of not being able to have stable connection or even a connection at all is a bit excessive for having 6 accounts paid.

:stuck_out_tongue:

“The main thrust of this update that will arrive next Tuesday is added connectivity. The chance of connections appearing between wormholes is…”

woot lets add to the game instead of making it more stable! oh and btw here have some more skins on sale we want your money but some of you still can’t play. Its ok give us more money

Local STILL broken and that is after I took CCP’s advice and went through a VPN in frigging LONDON. Yeah I can now finally log in but the game is still unstable and still local is broken.

Ya know, at first I thought those nasty ol DDOS attackers. Now I don’t know.

I looked at the outage maps on the east coast of America and notices it sure looks like most of the attacks are concentrated there for some reason and thought if I go through a server in an area not under attack then it might be worth the service.

Now I can log in and wait for the eventual disconnect, yet still local is broken.

How does CCP explain that? I have to throw the bulldung flag on it now.

All these people are out there supporting CCP and I get it, but I don’t know what to think now.

Its not like every conceivable server in the whole wide world is “under attack”.

You want me to continue to pay your so that you can keep a spaces ship game going then you better fix it.

Its more than pixels, its real life money.

I updated my ticket with my internet facing IP. CCP forwarded the information to their provider for the DDoS protection software. In a day or so my issues were fixed.

The fix timing might be a coincidence, but I think the IP allowed them to add me to an exception list or remove me from a list of suspect IPs. In any case, it cannot hurt to give CCP support some additional info to help them resolve issues.

I hope this helps someone.

Thanks CCP for the hard work. I know there are a lot of people working long hours on this issue.

I actually gave them my info and was good for about 36 hours and then back to having issues.

Its been several days since I visited this megathread. After awhile, a person can get tired of seeing the same old “can’t connect” (and of course the usual trolls that always accompany any subject in eve).

For the sake of newbies, I wish players would stop making blanket statements like “east coast works fine now” or “southern Canada having problems”. The players posting these in fact have no idea what experiences others are having…they have no clue what problems their next door neighbor is having let alone others in their town, state or region. Stop speaking for others. 8-P

Same with those saying do this or that to their computers and all will be fine. These types of problems can have various effects on other peoples computer systems. Just because a certain fix worked for one player does not mean it will work for another. For example, my launcher wasn’t working for a couple days…I would just get a blank window and a spinning timer. So after awhile I got the ambition to look in my notes for a registry fix that a GM had given me in the past. Boom, launcher worked. But this won’t be the answer for every player…it just happens to be the answer for me at this time.

Neither CCP nor their contracted protection company need our geographical locations. For example, it does no good to tell them of my connection problems and that I am in, say, Pine Tops, North Carolina because internet filters don’t work by land region. They work by IP addresses. If CCP gives a crap about my connection and wants to know if its being blocked, they only need to see my logged-in forum identity which will link to my account which will show them my IP address.

I’ve already unsubbed my four accounts. Not from rage…its just that it makes no sense to pay for something that I am unable to use. I didn’t omega them all at the same time, so their status’ are staggered. Two are still omega and two are “pendingchargeback” according to Account Activity (this info might be useful for those players who have also unsubbed).

It will interesting to see how CCP responds to the gameplay problem that this has caused. It easy to grant time…like give everyone a free month of Omega. Easy to reimburse simple ship loss too. And perhaps reimburse an approximation of reaction losses. But stations? Refueling? Region territory losses? That’s gonna be a nightmare. I don’t see any way that its not going to piss off someone somewhere. A possible scenario is that CCP puts the entire eve universe back to where it was last week, making any recent progress a waste of time. Heh…think about it…

Oops, made that above post using the wrong character. Should not have been Shadome, should have been Jaton.

Two Cents:
Intuition coupled with logic tells me this is a problem that involves disgruntled (ex)-employee(s); perhaps a result of the recent takeover?

Reap what you sow. I urge you to consider it in the future. Treating people fairly always has good results.

I actually had the same thoughts as to this being so bad, that they might just reset the game back to an earlier date. No idea how they would otherwise try to comprehensively deal with it.

Second straight day of operations within a flawless environment, although the same cannot be said of the operator who continues to stumble about doing less than optimal. Some guy in a previous post said something about incompetent people do not actually realize they are incompetent and I’m beginning to suspect there might be something to that.
A couple things that could be construed as digressing: Have the Trigs been boosted? I was heavily neuted in an engagement, didn’t know Trig rats could do that. Forced to abandon drones to effect repairs, on my return the Trig rats and my drones were gone. Either the Trigs absconded with my drones or their disappearance was linked to our DDoS issues.
And one other item probably totally irrelevant but you never know: A pilot in his capsule been showing up in dscan for nearly a month with never a break. What’s up with that, I wonder?

And we all just crashed again.
Really this is now getting beyond a joke.

Around 110 people from my fleet.
Various regions, UK, US, RU

CCP is a bunch of amateurs. DC without notice with patch. You’re a bunch of ignorant

So I just DCed and can’t login. Is it starting again?
