I am well aware how Internet and software works, that’s my profession. You are forgetting the fact that you are running their executable client that can be developed to distinguish between deliberate user action and unintended issue, and log that information (encrypted, if needed, to prevent tampering). You are not running Eve from a third party application, like a web browser - they are in control of both the server and the client.
If you have worked in software and web services development long enough, you would know that nothing is impossible. It’s only a matter of whether you want to, whether the law stops you and whether it’s profitable to implement something.
I press X to doubt, if this were the case you would know that regardless of what they control they cannot be sure where the problem is, all the client will see is it loses connection to the server, this doesn’t say why it happened nor that it was CCP’s fault
Because you still ultimately forget that reimbursement is for something that WAS CCP’s fault, a connectivity issue between you and the server isn’t something CCP has control over and the client isn’t going to be able tp provide any kind of useful information, if i walk over and pull the plug out of my router the client is just going to see that it can’t contact the server anymore
As to your last point, it is NOT feasible to monitor every hop every player takes, i know this, and you claim to be a professional so you should also know this
Now, suck it up, accept that the internet decided today was a good day for your ship to die and that it wasn’t CCP’s fault so they aren’t going to reimburse you for something that wasn’t their fault or within their control to prevent and move on
They can only determine what happened on either end of the connection, but nothing about what happened in between. If Cloudflare goes down, it doesn’t know that. It only knows that both the client and server detected a packet disruption and closed the connection. It also cannot tell the difference between Cloudflare going down and you unplugging your modem, it only detects a packet disruption and closes the connection.
Hot take: Maybe the developers from CCP ehf. (a Pearl Abyss company since 2019), could introduce a new change to the abyssal deadspace that takes into account the possibility of the game freezing or losing connection, and allows for an appropriate response that does not overtly punish the player for circumstances outside of their control, but also does not incentivize the manipulation of these external factors to gain an advantage.
You seem to not have enough knowledge about operating systems and hardware architecture and also not of networks in general so it makes no sense to discuss this further.
For example extending the 20 minute timer upon losing connection is easily exploited by players to stay inside longer when their alt spots hostiles on the trace.
I think the general view of CCP, and myself more importantly, is the cost of investigating “i disconnected” tickets would be disproportionate, and it is normal for technical issues to affect all players. The analogy is that weather affects all ships at sea, and we must all accept space weather. If you want to do something like abyssals, you must recognize there is greater risk, for which you are fully compensated by generous loot drops. Some players will get unlucky, of course, but overall the gameplay is fair. In contrast, if CCP were to more aggressively subsidize these losses, the inevitable result would be that some players benefit by aggressively posting support tickets, while other players fail to benefit because they are not as litigious.
