I would agree that Triglavians killing new player frigates from under your nose would be “not great for recruiting” since those new players will learn that you cannot protect them against simple NPCs.
As for “Player retention”, I say we leave that issue alone for CCP to deal with, since that’s their job and not your’s. 
Your orca can fit shield transfers and has more than enough dps to take out trigs…
Perhaps new players are just learning that you’re not the right person to help them.
I tried to kill 5 Trigs at a structure with my skiff and failed. Please send me the fit you used to do that… I have level 5 mastery on a Skiff and all combat drones. I also never AFK mine.
