Trojan!

Are we talking people doing the do porn, or statistical porn with graphs and stuff.

Either is good tbh.

You typify Eve for me at the moment. You must be proud of being a “Sheep”? Maybe you watch sheep porn?

Definitely time for a lock @ISD_Dorrim_Barstorlode - this is getting nasty now.

Careful now. In some countries that’s considered to be a healthy alternative.

Well this thread went south fast.

This is probably going to get flagged, but I want you to know that you’re actually the dick in this thread. Mortlake was playing around and Reileen was trying to help you.

IIRC the original condom as we know it today, was part of a sheep; and we’re back to that…

On that note, what do you call a Welshman with a sheep under each arm?

A pimp.

@Mortlake is gonna either laugh, or kill me for stereotyping.

For the past 11 1/2 yrs I’ve never had any issues with a Computer Virus threat from Eve until the same thing happen on my computer about 9 hrs ago. I started verifying the downloaded files in the Launcher’s Shared Cache when Windows Security detected a Trojan threat and blocked it:

Threat Blocked Severe

Status: Removed

Threat Detected: Trojan:Win32/Fuery.C!cl

When the verification of downloaded files in the Launcher was almost complete, Windows Security updated with another threat warning:

Threat Quarantined Severe
4/17/2020 1:36 AM

Status: Quarantined
Quarantined files are in a restricted area where they can’t harm your device. They will be removed automatically.

Anyway, I immediately posted that info in the ‘Known Issues’ thread and about 2 hrs later CCP responded:

Then later another player posted saying he had the same problem, with the same file, on windows 10.

Huh, here I was expecting some sort of funky “Stay covered, Stay Safe!” ad.

Instead it’s a guy who doesn’t realize that if he already has viruses on his PC or has a malware site opened recently in his browser, it can infect new downloads. Or that anti-virus software is capable of false positives.

Oh well, live and learn I guess!

This is the most likely scenario, google reveals a fair few links that suggest it’s windows security that’s at fault; it has problems with exe files that aren’t in the database and powershell scripts for a start.

Malwarebytes doesn’t seem to pick it up, neither do most of the other reputable antivirus platforms.

Every day my computer is monitored for Malware and all Virus Definitions are updated. My browser has the same Eve related sites open that I use everyday which is also monitored.

Whenever the Launcher downloads a new patch, I always verify them in the Shared Cache which is where this threat was detected.
