Trying to run EVE on Arch Linux using Lutris, game freezes after warping in

Hello all. I recently switched my desktop to Endeavor OS, and have been learning the ins and outs of Arch Linux.

Most games I’ve played run flawlessly through Steam’s Proton layer, but EVE has proven a challenge. I thought I was all good once I got Lutris set up; I successfully log in, choose my character, and warp in. Then, the problem starts.

After a few moments - whether it’s flicking through menus, warping to a couple spots, spinning the camera around, etc. - the game freezes, permanently. The Lutris logs do not say anything. I got confirmation while in a Discord call that the freeze affected my system, because my audio cut out.

I’ve tried every viable compatibility layer through Lutris - wine-ge-8-26-x86_64 and every Proton verison. Nothing stops the inevitable freeze. I’ve just run a full system update. Nothing in system monitoring suggests any of my hardware is getting overloaded. This is befuddling because most forums suggest that running EVE through Lutris is a smooth experience for most people nowadays, and I feel like I’m close to smooth sailing minus this consistent, specific issue.

System specs:
Kernel - 6.11.9-arch1-1
CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
RAM - 64GB Corsair Vengeance Pro

Any suggestions or help would be massively appreciated!

Can’t help you with details as i am on debian and wine-staging, but first thoughts: make sure you use nvidia drivers and not nouveau.

If you use nvidia drivers, you could turn the shaders and all other settings to low to check if it gets stable.

Hi,

happened to me as well. Had to change to DX11 in launcher. After that, I had no more trouble.

I am using a gtx1660 ti on manjaro.
