Unofficial Molea Monument News Discussion Thread

The problem with this is how do CCP verify anything, they can’t really just go transferring random characters to memorial corps just because someone said so, remember if someone dies you don’t have access to their account and CCP isn’t going to want to deal with vetting the death certificates of dozens of countries in order to transfer characters around

While its a cute idea its not really “viable”

Many people - more than in other games probably, given the length of time the average capsuleer stays active - care very deeply about EvE Online. In fact they care so deeply about EvE that it has become part of their daily lives. If they wish to honor and remember real people who were lost in real life in a place they love and frequent, their virtual world of New Eden, it is not role play, it is honest emotion and deep feeling.

The Molea monument doesn’t lessen New Eden, it makes it More. It honors the Fallen. It also honors the deepest feelings that players have, and it honors the strength of the feelings players have for the game itself, when pilots honor EvE by sharing the most significant real life loss anyone can ever experience. And that is why, in my personal opinion, ccp devoted resources to honor that single link between real and virtual world.

Eve has been around long enough that children become parents, parents become grandparents, and now we are approaching a possible 3rd generation. The legacy that is this game will (hopefully) outlast us all and our childrens’ children will have the ability to play this game.

Remembering those characters who people feel have contributed to the shared experience we all have as players is a noble act and I applaud CCP for providing a memorial to that end. While there are some who will not participate, or who feel this isn’t something they support and will try and interfere or sabotage it, just further supports the notion that the sandbox is still alive and fueling content. Either way the game continues…

This “we are all valid individuals” narrative is curious in a game which downplays the importance of individuality.

Alternatively, the game encourages co-operation between individuals.

Between players and NPCs too.

Thats not an alternative.

Its the same thing.

ha ya’ll think it’s a step to deleting pos’s, they still cant find all the code and untangle the knot without breaking the game

It’s part of the news post text that upcoming removal of POS code was a contributing factor in the decision to place a permanent monument with POS-like abilities. Doesn’t mean they are close to removal, but it’s a related effort.
