Upcoming Changes to Drone Aggression

Both of which are a joke.

I am. Now what?

Hey! You’re out of line, young man!

The best feature of ATS is the one most players don’t know about: it has a passive online bonus (ie. doesn’t have to be activated) of increasing max target locks by +2 for T1 and +3 for T2. (For T1 - not bad considering it consumes only 1PG!) Handy for ships that kill faster than they can acquire targets. This is probably more relevant to active gameplay than it is to passive gameplay (eg. use of RHML Typhoon Fleet Issue or a Machariel in blitzing missions, etc).

Respecc the ATS.

(And no, I never activate mine ■■■■ no.)

Agreed…lol.

IF they don’t have the isk.
IF.
But that’s just a slippery slope fallacy.

I fail to see how “changes to drone aggro” suddenly means less players will come and check out the game after hearing about huge fleet battles. Can you explain specifically how removing Drone auto-aggro will cause less new players to come to EVE?

Before Alpha Clones, this where ALL Payed Accounts. How Many Payed Accounts are There today ?

I’m still paying, so are most of my friend’s. Also people buy plex so technically its the same thing. But yea CCP does not show what % of those are alpha and what are omega.

How did an under-the-table goon vegetable got into the list of honest people? You’re about the last one to be trusted.

And he’s right, you know. I mean, without the last mechanic which put multiboxer at least to the same scale as bot, what else do you propose me to do with my CCP-endorsed alts? Say “well, that was fun” on all those years of sub and permanently park them in Jita? If there are alternatives to botting, botting is bad, but if botting is the only way, what then? Go, chinese, show them how well that works.

Nice racism, kid.

Yeah, just paint a huge broad brush stroke over the players of an entire nation just because you can’t AFK your little krab boats anymore. That’s a smart move.

There is an alternate to botting and afk its called playing the game making isk with your own 2 hands and not being a panzy.

If you have the accounts already you only need 2 to make 1bil an hour while playing actively, which should be plenty imo.

When you can’t argue, claim it’s racist.

You know what’s the botting situation on Serenity, right?

A selection of “don’t want” posts.

[–]suitonia
It’s just the normal reddit kneejerk response to anything that the poster doesn’t like.

[–]profirix
Suitonia, it has more to do with the fact that this change punishes actual players for trying to be minimalist when doing an excessively tedious and boring activity, but doesn’t even remotely target the real problem, which is botting.
Until CCP makes ratting actually fun and engaging, krabs have a reason to complain.

[–]ttvhalfpasteight
Players will optimise the fun out of any activity.

[–]protostar71
Yes because manually farming anomaly’s can be so much fun.

[–]Psychedelic42069
I’m not sure if blaming player is the right path here. There are video games that are fun. There are even aspects of Eve that are fun.

[–]Cpt_Soban
It will force Krabs to focus entirely on the game- meaning those ishtars and Myrms will be able to escape quickly as the now active player sees an enemy ship land on grid.
My prediction is that hunters will have a harder time catching people, claiming everyone that got away “must be a bot”

[–]the_dark_side
This sucks for bigger drone boats that take 30 seconds to target a smaller target… but the drones can target in 4. You know, like a Dominix.
This sucks for Miners who now get to manually target inbound rats, once again, super fast drones (lights) but you have to target with your craptastic miner sensors.
This sucks for anyone who only has been playing even since the ‘work from home’ movement - and can’t literally spend all their time watching the screen.
Basically it just ruled out 90% of my potential playing.

[–]the_dark_side
It’s tough, cause it feels like they are really pushing for more active play, which can be fun, but then on the flip side everything active or passive in the game takes a minimum of an hour or more. I get the bot hate, but don’t make the game frustrating to play for people.

[–]meangean
Just means that you should use a sensor booster. Or put sentries on the domi and sit at range.

[–]the_dark_side
I already use the booster and sentry combo. But it’s real nice to have the drones auto fire so I’m not ctrl clicking all over the place. They lock and shoot way faster than the domi

There is an alternative for you: stop being a moron liar.

If my objective in eve was to be the richest krabber, I’d just join a bloc and farm in supers under umbrella. I got the skills to do it, SP to do it, saved enough ISK to do it, and got a killboard which will get me accepted to any bloc out there. Guess why I didn’t do it? Not my objective.

So you are saying that playing the game manually is a lie? Do you not believe that it is possible? It just shows how much of a drone you have become. This change will be good for you, you will become more human again.

No, I’m saying your narrative, and you, are dumb as wood, and stuck in a lie, among with misconception about other players, while having juputer-sized ego, and an outlook that only playstyles you personally approve matter.

Sould i start making my own eve game?

I’m sure you have actual proof and evidence to support this and that you will definitely not just tell me to go “do your own research” because you’ve got no proof what-so-ever, like you usually do. /s

So no, I don’t know what the botting situation is on Serenity. Because I don’t play on that server.
Do you have any actual proof or evidence for the argument that you are implying?

Ok those people shoputing tis is agains a win against BOT !
how it helping against bot?
they will just add a extra line of code to agress drones
i see this change as a more of a attack towars a guy who is in office and sneaking eve on its pc and running a site to make some isk when he is in office so that in the evening when he returns he can blow some ships and can afford that easy

Yes, I agree with you, just nerfing/deleting things doesn’t make a better or more active game. Things like the redesigned ESS and dynamic bounty system are much more likely to succeed and create new activity than a straight out nerf like the Blackout.

But this change is more of a (admittedly significant) balance change than a nerf. The activities themselves are exactly the same. They payout is as before. All that has changed is one weapon system of many has been nerfed, which will have minor consequences for most drone users (they are a little less useful/ less OP) and major consequences for those who engage in a massively multiboxed, low-attention game play to make economy dominating-levels of ISK.

So yeah, there are consequences for these multiboxers but they are completely intended. It’s kinda hard to paint them as unintended when CCP specifically wants fleets of AFK drone ships orbiting anomalies to go away.

If they did this, you would have a thread with almost the same volume of tears raining down on us. This torrent is almost all from people who have grown used/entitled to easy, parallel ISK from nullsec anoms, not those who are upset their drone boat is a little less powerful. Towers that made low/no attention drone ratting impossible would have had the same effect. And the downstream economic and activity effects would be the same.

In fact, the issues pointed out by drone users makes me more convinced that weapon system has been too good for too long, or at least there needs to be other options to deal with the situation people claim only can be addressed by using drones. Maybe they are wrong and people will rapidly find an alternative solution (likely - missiles already should provide a viable alternative), so I think these changes are probably good for game balance.

And as for the economic effect, that is still massively in flux. Highsec income will probably be hit next, but then, once a baseline income across the activities and sectors of space has been hammered into line, they will need to add back more lucrative (and hopefully more engaging) PvE everywhere. I hope they have stuff ready to go.

It’s uncomfortable and ugly living in the middle of an active construction site. It’s possible the final rebuilt structure will be a disaster or even collapse, but I will at least wait until the renovators are done before making a final judgment.
