Gila is better to the point of being the only viable cruiser for l6 outside test server fits…
It’s just that if you nerf Gila out, there will be nothing left. Thats why I am super worried about this change.
Strong points of Gila does not include strong capacitor. Thats why being able to drone kite is it’s staple ability, it cannot really dive 4 neuting leshaks.
Also drone boats aren’t screwed nearly as much by the tracking/guidance disruptors, which can be completely infuriating. Those are the main reason drone boats are preffered in the first place. They are the only reason why the other viable t1 cruiser, the Phantasm, isn’t nearly as competitive. Though, I wonder if Phantie works at all after resist nerfs. And, with current hull price, it does not worth it anyways.
Main reason why HACs are not viable is not dampeners. It is their pathetic HP. It is so bad that, in my opinion, you have to fit buffer rigs for them to work for L6, and then you have to raise their HP/s by HG implants and other pricey horseshit. You will be alpha’ed through on some spawns otherwise, no matter how much you rep.
So I wonder if nerfing electronics overall would be worth it. It is whole another topic.
My solution just allows to implement the change on this thread without screwing stuff up.
I certainly hope they find a way to improve the tutorial/UI (Not that there is a tutorial about drones in the first place…) to explain the difference in behavior to new players. This means that they are coding an exception to the rules that won’t be clearly labeled in UI… and as soon as you get into that, not only will you frustrate players, but you will make a less coherent UI and generate bug reports.

Good change. I do want to know if this basically makes the “guard” command completely irrelevant though. Not that I use it that often.
I find it annoying when running a mission like Recon (2 of 3). Shoot the mining structure to get the ships to spawn, untarget the structure, clear the room, aaaand with no target selected at all, the drones are off on their own attacking the structure.
Given, I could just set them to “Passive”, but I will also admit that in some missions it was nice to just let the drones do their job while flying to an objective, etc.
Drones will still “Guard” the Fleet Member they’ve been assigned to if that pilot is attacked by other Capsuleers. The change is only directed at engagement from NPCs.

Why is this so hard for you to understand? You can AFK cloak, you can sit AFK in station, you can go AFK at the login screen, you just can’t do anything that generates wealth (or attack other players, but good luck doing that successfully while AFK). If you want to do anything but sit idle you need to be actively playing the game.
AFK cloaking is not “gameplay”. It’s literally just sitting idle in space.
And no, you are not getting 100% safety while farming. Get over it.
Not if you are AFK. You can only do those things while actively at your PC playing the game.
Or just idle for hour and make ennemy doubt : are you active or not.
And now we come to the real “issue” here: you’re upset that garbage-tier renters don’t have a 100% accurate notification every time an active threat is nearby so that they can dock up without any chance of loss and without having to spend any more time than necessary away from their farming.
If its not a gameplay : We could remove it, no one care .
If it’s a gameplay : you could be AFK cloack totally safe, and when you become active be dangerous.manke intel whatever. But it don’t change during time you was afk you make doubt on ennemy on you’re presence. So it’s a game play.
The fact that you define sitting idle in space doing nothing as “gameplay” is the same old whining from garbage-tier renters that we’ve had for almost as long as EVE has existed.
Market you can’t be AFK it give you no value. psychology of be dock in jita 4-4 don’t give you any bonus.
@Merin_Ryskin Maybe, just maybe people who could catch other people only with perma cloack are garbage tier PVP player. I know a lot of people , include myself who can catch farmer with intel with what you want … without cloacking. Yes it’s more difficult than watch netflix and after see if you have a free target, it s an active gameplay and it take skill.

Only the absolute dumbest farmers. For anyone with even a basic level of competence local, in the absence of AFK cloaking, provides 100% security. It is literally impossible to enter a system and catch an aligned and aware target before it can warp back to a station and dock. And this is not an acceptable level of risk.

With old ESS you could set a shitons of trap (diamaond rat + old ESS a perfect trap) … with disconect/reconnection … with WH … so many opportunity to catch people and if you are not braindead you could use they own intel against they. When you are in a roam of 20 people, they stop count, and so you could easealy disconect 1 or 2 tacler in anom ans reconect they whe, the rest of you’re roam is “far”.
So you could remove perma cloack. perma ESS help you a lot now. Be a better pvp player.
