Upcoming Changes to Drone Aggression

It’s far too easy for players to bloat the economy with ez-mode isk generation using multiple accounts. That’s what’s wrong with it.

CCP found out that their old ore volumes in nullsec Ore Anomalies allowed players to park multiple (sometimes upwards of 20-30) Rorquals and just go AFK while the Excavator drones ate away at rocks for HOURS at a time. In response, CCP dramatically reduced the amount of Ore in anomalies so that rocks popped sooner and required Rorquals to reposition more frequently.

Players with 20+ Rorquals (or some other large number) found that it was too troublesome to constantly keep repositioning their Rorquals, so they stopped.

This is basically what CCP is doing, but instead of Ore Anomalies, it’s nullsec Combat Anomalies.

So yeah, that’s what’s wrong with it. It’s too easy to generate isk with little to no attention. Does that answer your question?

Problem with this argument.
Either:

  1. the player has 1-2 accounts, at which point, this change does not hinder their ability to make isk, OR
  1. the player has significantly more alts, at which point, this change DOES hinder their ability to make isk. which begs the question that, if they are spending so much money subscribing Omega accounts that they can “progress legitimately semi-afk WITHOUT p2w”, why don’t they just use the money spent on multiple Omega accounts to p2w?

But Scoots, if everyone stops Semi-AFK drone ratting, only people paying attention will be left, so your kills will go to 0 because you’ve told us before you don’t know how to scan down ratters in under a minute. This is destroying your own playstyle, and you support it? Big Oof.

you said it right in bold letters RMT that is what ccp wants you hit the nail on the head.

I’m no friend of all this crazy multiboxing meta either, i hate it and i am all for nerfing it, yes…but cant u make sure u dont hit the innocent?

As a newbro i have a very hard time making ISK allready. And this nerfs my chosen playstyles which i worked hard for to do them somewhat comfortably, active Gila Abyss and brainafk Orca mining.
No multiboxing, just one account. So i am not part of the problem and still get the nerf bat.

I dont know about nullsec ratting or the economy history of EvE but if that is such big of a problem why not nerf null sec anomalies instead of nerfing drones everywhere?

And isnt it by far worse to generate ISK with no attention at all by botting then little attention legit?
It just seems all the changes i witnessed since i started playing only target legitimate players but not cheaters, and if i’m certain about one thing since i started playing: there are a LOT of cheaters in this.

Calm Down, Miner! Now, I understand where the Hate on miners and ratters comes from. Many Ratters and Miners just want to play eve with ease and don’t want hardships and difficulty. A lot of explorers like myself are working hard facing difficult situation and going to dangerous places but many (not all) ratters and miners just want to sit idle and make a tons of isks. That is why many players want to give afk players a lot of hardships.

10-15mil/hour in a 1.2 bil ship in supposedly the highest security space with high chance of getting smoked while competing versus thousands of bots

“tons of easy isk”
no.

Also if this is really to target multiboxers…its a very strange approach…instead of nerfing everybodys drones why not simply limit omega multiboxing to like 5? or 10? accounts…

Ok.

No.

You don’t get to try and pull this argument without properly drawing the lines in the sand.
What qualifies as “innocent”? Define that for all of us, would you?

Or else there’s nothing more to discuss because you will just move goalposts and change the definition of what is “innocent” compared to anything else.

i don’t care.

Because CCP wants to specifically target low-attention gameplay. They said this in the very first post. Do you have trouble reading? They’re not looking to nerf nullsec anomalies overall. Their stated goal is to counter low-attention gameplay.

Again, i don’t care.

Good thing CCP doesn’t care what things “seem” to you, kid.

Like I’ve already said before.
Adapt or die.

And i dont agree. Do you have trouble reading?

I allready did: Players who do not

which is according to you, the problem CCP is trying to fix.

doubt this is only about me who disagrees with this, dude.

or learn to tollerate ppls opinions…or dont and uhm idk live long and happy or something kool.

CCP doesn’t care.

CCP doesn’t care.

Uh, yes, anyone would half a functional brain would understand this.

Again, CCP doesn’t care.

But see, the problem is that you’re acting like an entitled child whining about a change that will negatively impact you for the specific reason that CCP wants to prevent you from doing something, namely, low-attention gameplay.

So it’s not really a matter of opinion. It’s a matter of you feeling like you’re entitled to something that CCP is trying to get rid of. And you throwing a tantrum like an immature child.

If you want really a safe and idle way of making isk. The industry is waiting for you. You can do whatever you want or need to do outside the game while your product is being manufactured. Blueprint copying is one of the lucrative business in eve. Include Hypervegas.

i disagree with a change in a videogame, i dont rly whine about it or uhm u kno call others out on “half functionial brains” over it

and yet here you are…

Yes, because you are engaging in a behavior that CCP no longer wants to encourage. So you choices are: adapt or die.

It seems like you’ve picked “die”, but want to flavor it with a lot of whining and complaining. But that’s your perogative.

So are you? And it looks like much longer than me…

Nope. I can voice my displeasure in hope this is not going live in a forum which exists to discuss in the first place… or change my mind about my opinion when talking… which btw has much higher chance when done in a respectful manner.

Neither of these playstyles are nerfed?
Active play is fine, just press F.
And mining drones don’t have an aggressive mode to start with.

None of these two should be suffering from the changes.

Orca has so much EHP that your average High Sec rats can’t even dream of making a dent in your hull, and personally, I haven’t ever had problems with rats aggressing my mining drones.

As for the Gila, if you are active, you should already be locking targets and mantaining a priority queue for what you’ll be dealing with first and last in each room of the abyss, so there should be no problems here.

Concerns with ECM npcs have been raised for high tier abyss and normal gameplay, and hopefully a solution is provided for that, like drones aggressing npcs that use ECM modules on your ship and etc, but we’ll see about that.

The only newbros who might really suffer a bit will be players in ventures, as their drones won’t auto-attack any rats that show up, but losing a 300k ship is just a small inconvenience in the grand scheme of things, and should teach them that it’s a bad idea to leave the keyboard while undocked in a ship without decent tank.

That’s the average mining income for High Sec mining, but if we are talking about AFK mining, we can’t really look at a single hour.

AFK mining daily income:
1h - 10-15 mil/day
3h - 30-45 mil/day
6h - 60-90 mil/day
9h - 90-135 mil/day
12h - 120-180 mil/day

For income earned while mostly AFK, it certainly can generate a decent amount of money if you invest enough time on it.

Now, you can take these numbers and multiply according to the number of accounts a player uses to farm isk while AFK, and you’ll see where the “tons of easy isk” comes from.

If we are talking about ratting, then you simply need to multiply these base values by x2, x3, x4 and etc, depending on which ship is being used for ratting, and then add on the multiboxed accounts on top.

I won’t be surprised if the multiboxers move to High Sec for AFK mining after the change takes place, as it’s still a decent income to be made while mostly AFK, if they can’t really be bothered to adapt to the new null ratting.

Of course, as it’s not liquid isk being generated, the market will balance itself with time as people continue flooding ore to buy orders, until it’s not such a great way to make passive isk anymore, and players will move on to the next money making scheme, as they tend to do, until the cycle repeats itself.

Sadly they are.

redirecting you to this

and that

and yes, im not doing leshak bonus rooms yet but i was working towards getting my gila ready for t5’s.
Beside that, yes drones will loose DPS even in lower tiers when they dont autopick targets.

Mining drones do not deal with belt rats sadly. And my Orca has like a idk 15 second target lock.

Gila’s have plenty of lock slots (7). You should never run out of target queue, you ‘might’ lose damage if you drop them instantly on entering a room and invite everything to shoot your drones, which loses you more DPS via having to recall them instead.

Belt rats also don’t threaten an orca, so you should just tank through belt rats honestly, or just lock them while you finish mining the current rock.
Orca’s also have plenty of lock slots (7), and I’m pretty certain that you can unlock the rock and they keep going once you’ve set them mining it.

So in neither case do I see you being nerfed. Ok, maybe 0.01% or something.

well i can agree on decent…somewhat…i still think its to low. but yeah decent.

Thats my point. If multiboxing is the problem why not limit multiboxing and instead hit folks with a nerf who are not the problem.

Their damage adds up over time even on 300k ehp+.
Yes u can ignore them and deal with them when doing targetting new rocks but that involves loosing like a minute where u cant target all the rocks which then leads to you not beeing able to deal with them while targetting new rocks. Ultimately causing you to spend more time micro managing a very tedious and annoying task in a profession which allready is boring, under payed and mostly botted.
And its not only about Orcas.
